She made a mental note to make him some home cooked steak and such. The blonde knew how to make that pretty damned well at home. It'd be a bit different from the steak here, but it would be steak none the less.
"Action, fast cars, explosions, blood, fights, death... horror movies even... Take me to a chick flick and I will remove your fun parts."
She had pointed her knife at him at that point. One finger pressed to the blade, and the way she held it just suggesting she might know how to use it on him too. There was a smirk on those full lips.
"Do you have any pets?"

The way Kate held that knife made Adrian think she knew how to use it, which brought his eyebrows up in a mixture of surprise, and not a little bit of fear.
"But c'mon," Adrian teased her a bit on the subject, daring the girl and causing his manly parts to cry out in agony at his foolish bravery. "You know Gosling was just so dreamy in the Notebook," he said with a laugh.
Kate would speak again, asking him about any pets. Adrian closed his eyes and smiled. He had pets, alright. None here, but back home in Long Beach....
"Yeah," he said, still with his eyes closed, giving kind of a faraway look about him. "Two golden retrievers and a great dane back home, but none here in San Francisco, at least not yet. Sandy and Farah are the retrievers' names. I got to name the Dane myself... and I named him Bazooka," he said, laughing, his eyes opening midway through the words to look at Kate, smiling. "They are the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet. You'd love 'em, Kate, I know it."
Adrian was starting to be at a loss for questions. He thought about it a bit, and the scene from just a scant moment ago inspired him as to what exactly to ask.
"You fight pretty well, Kate. Where'd you pick that up at?"

Who the hell had named those first two dogs? His parents? Probably. She smirked just a bit, her past was a bit sad... so she had toughened up because of it. The blonde was about halfway done with her plate already. Funny how good it all tasted. Made you want to somehow eat it all.
" I was a pretty wild kid, because I had lots of energy. Dad sent me to kick boxing to cool it off. I started there... when dad dissappeared, and my step mom was put in a coma... all I found was a note, telling me to hide. I was left cash every month to live off of, but the only place that would accept me without records and things was a school in New York for the criminal kids and bad children. I got the shit beat out of me. You learn to be tougher in those sorts of situations."
Honest to dear god truth there. She smirked a little sarcastically.
"I got some boyfriends to teach me things, or defend me... but when it came down to it I was a pretty girl stuck in a world where people take what they want. You learn a lot of things that way."
She smiled at him, and asked another question.
"Whats the best place in the world to spend a week, to you?"

Adrian listened with interest. Everyone seemed to have such a vastly different story when it came to fighting, and yet, everyone still seemed to know how to do it. Adrian, meanwhile, had been classically trained, born and bred a boxer, and even though he hadn't been with his trainer in many months now, he still practiced on his own at least once a day, if not more so.
Kate fired back another question, and Adrian, without even thinking about it, responded almost immediately.
"In your arms."
He paused, and did a double take, gulping and deciding at that moment to take a VERY long drink of his newly-refilled tea, draining the entire thing in one go.
"Uhh, I mean. Yeah, uh... who's your favorite clothing designer?"
He quickly fired off another question, almost desperate to get his answer shoved off the table. Why? Because, when he said it, he hadn't meant it as some sort of corny line. After the short time they had spent together, in the classroom and then at her apartment, that was how he felt. And the thought, frankly, scared the shit out of him.

Scared the shit out of her too. She almost choked on the piece of steak she was eating, and quickly looked away. Favorite designer? Sure, that was a kosher topic. Very kosher topic.
"Prada. I love their shoes to death. The spring collection was very much to my liking with the designs with the wings. I bought almost everything off the line."
She smiled sweetly, though trying to calm her thoughts. Adrian, in her arms for an entire week. With her, somewhere warm and tropical and wonderful. It sounded almost too good to be true. She stowed that thought and went on to the next question before she said something stupid as well.
"When's your birthday?"
Another very good thing to know if you were scoping a person out. Birthdays were important for presents and what not. Good things not to forget.

"My birthday? July 5th. Poor parents, just one day shy of an Independence Day baby." He smirked, and finished off the last of his steak. He still had a few bites of potatoes and veggies left, and he played around with them a bit, hesitating a bit on asking the question.
He knew what he wanted to ask, certainly, it was just sure to be a sensitive subject for the two of them. There was a time when this was almost a stupid question to ask, but these days, with people as different as they were, the answers were much more varied and unpredictable.
He shoveled some carrots into his potatoes and took the whole thing into his mouth, still delaying the inevitable. Adrian didn't even really know what he wanted the answer to this question to be. I mean, he did, sure, but he couldn't honestly trick himself into believing an answer contrary to the one he wanted would change his opinion of the girl at this point.
Eh, fuck it. Put the chips on the table and your balls to the wall.
"... do you believe in God?"

Did she believe in God?? Really? Kate finished off her potatoes, thinking on that one. What kind of question was that? Did it really matter? Was he one of those "good boys" who only dated those Christian girls so their mommies stayed happy? Fuck that shit man. Kate cocked one eyebrow and looked at him.
"Pass, as I'd rather not discuss religion, or anything it's centered on."
She was the first one to use a pass. Kate only had two left, where Adrian had all three still. She grinned, full lips twisting and taking the conversation to an entire new level. She wanted to know a couple of things about his past after all.
"Who was your first girlfriend and why?"
She was grinning almost ear to ear, waiting for a reply to this one.

Adrian attempted a smirk, but it wasn't as fully into it as he'd liked. Did he want to hear that she believed in God just like he did? Adrian didn't know for sure, but he knew that, at least, he wanted an answer. He silently cursed the idea of the 'pass', but could understand. Especially in these days, religion was a harsh topic, and a part of him could even understand, considering the girl's past, that she couldn't believe in God. Adrian just let her ask a question of him.
He smiled and shook his head.
"My first girlfriend? Umm, her name was Maya. Don't get the wrong idea, she was a blue-blooded white girl, it was just that her parents thought she needed an exotic first name, since their last name was Williams. Make her stand out. We were 14, a few years back, young, stuck in Private schools. She was the first girl to not look at me funny because of my family name. To this day I never knew why. It was pretty short-lived, I mean... I got kicked from that school after a few months for fighting. We never saw each other after that."
Adrian shrugged, reciting what could have been a sad story, but he didn't seem too particularly phased by it. He'd never had a girlfriend he'd actually cared about past general companionship, of course. He was still quite young, after all.
Another probing question came to mind, and Adrian's eyes met with Kate's as he finished off the last of his plate. "So far, Kate, what do you think of me?"

Maya Williams? Did sound too familiar to Kate, and what would she care if she wasn't some blue blooded white girl? Kate didn't judge on skin tones or other things like that. She put her fork to rest beside her plate and leaned back with a smirk. What did she think of him? And she had to tell the truth?? Oh wouldn't this be interesting.
"I think that you're witty and nice. You're a flirt, a tease, and have a smile that would melt most female's hearts, and a body that makes a woman want to jump you."
That's what she thought of him. What she thought he could be? That was an entirely different question because Kate honestly thought that maybe... just maybe... if she could trust him, Kate McHallin might start dating again. And not going on dates, but actual boyfriend and girlfriend stuff. She sipped at her refreshed lemonade and smiled.
"Am I anything you thought a McHallin would be like?"

A good answer, and a good question. Kate was certainly good at this game, probably better than Adrian, even. He smirked at the thought. Here he was, playing a simple game to get to know each other better, and yet he still was thinking on it as winning and losing. Pride was a funny thing sometimes.
"You? I don't know, Kate," Adrian said, thinking back to what he was supposed to know about the McHallin's. "You've got the edge I expected, any competent businessman and his ilk would have to have it. You've got the look, the wits, and the poise, as well. What you have that I didn't expect, though, is the history."
Adrian would leave it at that. In his mind, wildly wealthy people didn't normally have rough and tumble early lives. Despite the fact that it seemed like everyone he knew was wildly wealthy with rough and tumble early lives, lately, it just didn't fit within his usual worldview.
"Are you allergic to anything?"

Ah yes, the history. People were often times surprised by everything that she went through. Kate smiled, and leaned back into the booth. Her hands lifted and settled behind her head as she stretched. The pale woman smiled as he asked his question.
"Nothing. I'm not allergic to a single thing that I know of."
What to ask him? What to say? She wanted to kiss him again, touch his face and his hair. Wanted to be on the other side of the table and sit in his lap. She smirked with one eyebrow.
"What goes through your mind when we kiss?"
Evil? Just maybe. He was male after all, and men always had dirty thoughts running through their minds. Hell, she had dirty thoughts when their lips met. She was just forcing his out to the open.

He smirked, attempting to look cocky and self-assured when her question came forth. However, there was a sort of distant nagging at him, a certain inner satisfaction and fulfilment at the thought of kissing her, as well. The two weren't necessarily conflicting emotions, but to the young Hanlon, they were still very foreign emotions when compared to his usual "love 'em and leave 'em" theories about women.
The waiter came with the check, and Adrian reached into his pocket for his wallet, digging out his Amex Black Card with the astronomical spending limit and using it to pay for the meal. He didn't even bother to look at the ticket, the price was inconsequential. As the waiter left to run the card, Adrian returned his gaze to the girl.
"Passion and desire come to mind, chiefly," Adrian began, punctuating with a little shrug, as if to say I am a guy, you know. but would then go on further, "and yet, not to be ignored, I should add, is the underlying sense of... I don't know... completeness. It's like something just feels... right, or just. I don't know. Maybe I'm crazy."
Once again, Adrian found himself starting to babble, and once again it was after something that came dangerously close to an admission of something other than simple attraction for the girl.
What IS she doing to me?
"If you could go back in time and punch out anyone from history, who would it be and why?" Adrian said with a smirk. Sure, he was ripping off of Fight Club, but he preferred to consider it 'inspiration.' Not to mention, he was a bit hesitant to go back to more pressing questions, especially after the last one he asked had been given the pass.

Well, he answered that rather smoothly until the last part. Kate grinned just slightly, and listened to his question. There would be no hesitation in her voice what so ever. No balking, and no jokes.
"Hitler. I'd punch him so hard his mother would feel it in her womb."
Kate wasn't a "good person". She didn't save cats out of trees, or anything like that. But she was decent about certain things. She'd rescue a kid from a fire if she could, or something akin to that. She loved to beat in people's faces, but... she wasn't dastardly evil or anything.
"If you could have a party with any three people ever existed, who would you choose and why?"
Yeah, it was going to turn into one of those, wasn't it? She really wanted to know, out of everyone, who would he want to party with the most? Could be a rather interesting answer.

Adrian heard her question, and didn't hesitate in the least bit to answer, at least for the first third of the question.
"Well, you, of course, for starters..." Adrian fired off the first part with little humor or sarcasm. Kate seemed like a damn fun chick, and any party Adrian would be privy to just seemed like it wouldn't be half the party without her around.
"Otherwise, umm... Hugh Hefner, for sure, even if he didn't bring his ladies, and Alexander the Great."
Maybe a strange choice for a third person to party with, but Adrian stood by his choice. "He was such a badass, even if he didn't know how to party, I'd want to at least talk to him." Adrian shrugged unapologetically.
Adrian stopped to think of a question, but once again felt stunted after her passing on his prior question. He wished he could figure out what she would pass on, so he could avoid that. A lightbulb flashed in his mind, and Adrian smirked.
"What kind of questions could I ask you that would most likely result in you using your last two passes?"

What kind of questions to loose her last passes? Kate's brows furrowed and she REALLY had to think about it. Those emerald eyes gazed at "nothing" as her thoughts wandered. Trying to figure out what questions he would have to ask...
"About my parents... questions about my parents and questions about my scar."
She didn't want him finding out about the scar. She and Mathew were cool, but she didn't go around telling people "MATHEW DID THIS TO ME!!!" In fact, other than when it was the two of them (Mathew and herself), Kate didn't really talk about it except for the fact it happened. Never on who had done it.
"What makes Adrian Hanlon uncomfortable?"
The waiter brought back his card (which Kate had one too), and they sat there. No one was trying to move them, or anything like that. Who would move two social power players like themselves? Ha.
