The back of the class was usually the best place to sit. Sometimes the sleepers and the loners claimed the area, but for the most part, the chatty popular kids were prone to sitting in the last couple of rows. Elmira managed to slip a seat in the rear corner, flipping out her cell phone and turning it on silent to prepare for a whole period of texting, her usual way of passing the time. She rarely ever took notes or read, part of the reason why she was nineteen years old and still in high school, and did not particularly have the motivation or attention span to actually listen to a lecture. Sometimes she placed a nice voice recorder on the edge of her desk and planned to play back the lesson later on, as her university guru older brother had suggested, but even with the finest recorder money could buy, sound would not pick up from the teacher's voice so far away.
When she finally looked up from her phone, a large amount of notes were already printed on the whiteboard, and the teacher was slowly making more. Elmira squinted at it. Even though she knew she'd be too lazy to copy it all down, she felt the urge to at least skim them over. With a short sigh, she fumbled through her purse for her glasses. The sound of a student sharpening her pencil growled behind Elmira. The glasses were in a hard, rectangular container, which she popped open a bit too soon, as they flew out and onto the floor. She breathed another distressed sigh. Her long body leaned over to pick them up. CRACK! Next thing she knew, she was staring at a foot.
"Oh, crap! I'm so sorry!" the guilty girl cried, horror and shame stricken across her face, freshly sharpened pencil in hand.
Fuck. Those are expensive glasses! Elmira thought angrily. "Ah, it was just an accident. Don't worry about it. I was going to get a new pair, anyway." She forced a smile as she lied. At least the girl wasn't particularly pretty; she had bigger breasts than Elmira, which was a big envy trigger, but she also was a bit chubby with noticeable acne. Not much reason to be jealous, so Elmira wouldn't start any fights.
"Really? Are you sure? I mean, I'll pay for new ones. I feel really, really bad. It's my fault." Obviously this chick had not been reassured.
"No, it's fine. Not a problem. I'll just move up move up to the front so I can see better." She scooped up the two halves of her snapped glasses as well as her purse and phone, thinking, Stupid bitch. She should get some mechanical pencils or learn to watch where she's walking.
"Well, you could just tape it back together. I actually happen to have some duck tape in my back pack."
"Jajajaja! Usted está loco!" Elmira shook her head. Like I would wear taped glasses. What a dorky look. "No thanks. Gee tee eff oh, girl!" But then again, backpacks are dorky, too. I can't believe she actually offered to tape them.

Who actually paid attention in class? Honestly? Gwyn sat curled up at her desk toward the middle of the classroom, her knees resting against the edge of the desk closest to her, her black platform stilettos dangling from suspended feet. Her notebook was open on her desk, but there were no new notes, and in her lap were her folded hands, and in her hands was her cell phone, and she was texting away.. That is, until something much more interesting happened. Gwyn's ears caught onto it, she was practically extra-sensory to this kind of stuff. Blue eyes looked up, and she turned her body to look back at the exchange. One girl had steps on another's glasses (haha), and she was begging forgiveness and offering to replace them (lame). The broken glasses girl would have nothing of it and went to move to the front of the room, tagged along by the sorry girl (lamer). Who has duct tape in their backpack anyway? Shaking her head, Gwyn turned back to her texting just as the first girl walked past. "Jajajaja! Usted está loco! No thanks. Gee tee eff oh, girl!" Spanish? Mixed with...voiced lettering? Weird. But at least she had told the puppy-dog girl off, because otherwise Gwyn would have had to claw her guilty eyes out. Nothing annoyed her more than people who were sickeningly nice and didn't get the hint. Gwyn laughed lightly, tugging on a hot pink extension as she turned her gaze to girl #1. "You can sit here." She said sweetly, nodding to the desk next to her.

The intense pulse of the beat hammered in Nick's head. Front row of the class and he was able to wear his black hood up, and be listening to music from his DJ style headphones. Loudly. Enough to where the teacher could hear it, but Nick couldn't hear the teacher. Just the way he liked it.
The classroom was pretty empty, save for about 20 students. He had an empty seat to his right, and an empty seat to his left. Whatever. And oddly enough, Nick still found himself taking notes. Detailed ones with little doodles around every fact and opinion.
God, why am I even bothering to take notes? Oh, thats right, cause I have no one to borrow them from...
Nick stopped what he was doing and looked up at the clock. 10 minutes had passed in the hour class and he was ready to get out of there. But then he wondered what he had to do otherwise for fun and continued doodling.
Jajajaja! Usted está loco!
Nick turned around with a raised brow.
Was that Spanish? That a rare language for me to hear. Might be nice to meet some multi-cultural classmates.
And was that her coming to the front of the class!?
You can sit here.
Phew, another girl in the class offered her a seat. Interesting...
Nick decided to turn back around and listen to this one while waiting for a moment to intervene and meet some new people his way...

"You can sit here."
"Hm?" Elmira shifted her gaze, caught off guard for a second, focusing her vision on the girl who had made the offer. Uh-oh. This chick was not fat and acne-covered. That is, she was actually pretty, and pretty girls were trouble for crazy jealous types like Elmira. She swallowed, as if suppressing her usual urges. At least this person was not the type she typically picked fights with, the high-maintenance preppy beauty queen. Quite different, actually. She was attractive, but not in a way that Elmira was accustomed to being hostile toward. "Oh, thanks. Nobody else wants to sit up in the front, huh?"
She plopped down her over sized hand bag and slid her phone across the desk as she settled herself in the front row, pulling out the aforementioned voice recorder and setting it on. It made her able to be lazy yet actually made her seem professional. Well, that's how her college-level brother explained it, anyhow. Maybe his professors viewed things differently than high school teachers.
Now that she could actually see, she realized what was on the board actually held little interest to her. What a waste of time. To make matters even more pathetic, the teacher left the room, claiming he was going to run previous exams through the Scantron machine. The teacher leaving seemed to be the class's signal to explore their social lives, as it quickly got chatty.
"So, what's everyone doing Friday night?" Elmira asked aloud, somewhat above the other tittering voices.

Am I that invisible!? I know I'm wearing a black hoodie, but I'm certain I have form and hue!
Nick peered over to where the girl decided to sit. Yes he was invisible, to his dismay, but right away he knew he needed to get out of this rut and find himself some "classmates".
He had heard about this school's reputation and planned to make friends to help with the enemies he was bound to come across sooner or later. Its always good to have some strong back-up, no matter how... tantalizing his teammates were.
And just at that, while thinking for a minute, the teacher had left the room without Nick noticing, which rarely happens.
So, what's everyone doing Friday night?
Nick raised his hand quickly and lowered it, never turning away from the front of the class room but projecting so she could hear.
Nothing!

"I heard 'nothing.' For anyone else who's doing nothing, or is doing something not interesting or lame, I'm having a party on Friday night, starting at eight, with a bonfire near lifeguard station 7 on the beach right across the street from my house. I'll give anyone the address who is interested."
Elmira's dull grey eyes flickered across the room, trying to keep everyone's attention. Sure, she already had some people working for her to get some guests, the student body president pillar included, but it would be nice to have some interaction with a fair amount of people before they show up, and it makes her look like a better hostess if she gives the invite personally herself. Not that anyone will remember when they're wasted off their asses. "Drinks will be free, but if there's something specific that you want, you should let me know in advance."

Well at least she heard me. Hasn't noticed me yet, so time to kick it up a notch.
Drinks will be free, but if there's something specific that you want, you should let me know in advance.
Nick thought for a second. If she was having a party with "drinks", then she was perhaps a party-goer, or at least a girl who knows her fine beverage. The way to weasel his way into a conversation with this one was obvious now.
Nick took of his hood and shifted his headphones to his neck. He tapped her on the shoulder and spoke in his thick British accent.
So what would I have a choice of if you're offering specifics?

"So what would I have a choice of if you're offering specifics?"
Elmira giggled. "Are you from England or something?" A toothy grin parted her glossy lips. "I'm just messing with ya. I've got a guy who's going to make a booze run during the day. I'm going to get a decent combination of light stuff, like beer and alcopops and what-not, and some hard liquor. I have some really, um, interesting requests so far." She pulled out one of the bright yellow fliers with the party information that she had wrote on the back of, and began reading off it. "Like Kubanskaya, Vikingfjord, Rachmaninoff, and Danzka- obviously by people who like vodka with funny names- along with Polar Ice and Grey Goose. I don't know where I'm going to get it all, and I really think some people are just fucking with me. I'll get some Cap. Mo. and Jack and Smirnoff, and like a crapload of beer because it's cheap and easy to get in large supplies." She sighed. "But really, I'm open to your requests, Mr. British-accent."

She liked to talk. A lot. But Nick knew the way to ignite a fire is to create sparks, so he kept hitting the flint.
Well I can certainly say that I've never been called that before... and I am from England. Nicolas is the name, but you can call me Nick or whatever else you'd like!
It was that starting hill that Nick always had a hard time getting over whenever he met someone new. He was an observer, and once he had seen the behavior of his target, he nailed the introduction most all of the time. This time seemed to be no different, but he wasn't in completely clear water yet...

"Whatever else I like, huh?" Both of Elmira's eyebrows raised up and down in unison, as if she were thinking of something suspicious, yet she was generally being playful. "For now, we'll go with 'Sir Nicholas.' Oh, I guess I got caught up. I'm Elmira. People have called me Elle, Ella, Ellie... even Elmo. But I really don't suggest calling me Elmo. Like, my hair wasn't even red at the time or anything. It was just funny. Briefly. Very briefly." She reached into her still unzipped purse for a pen, which she eventually got after feeling around for one.
"Anyway, you never gave me your order. Unless your favorites already happen to be on my list..."

For now, we'll go with 'Sir Nicholas'.
He had to open his mouth. Nick's face drooped at the mention of the "Nickname", but he quickly regained his friendly manner.
I'm Elmira. People have called me Elle, Ella, Ellie...
Hm. Elmira was a strange name to him indeed. Very multi-cultural and very hard to come up with a nickname as socially degrading as 'Sir Nicolas'. Well he thought he should at least tell the girl what he wanted.
I'm not the hard liquor type of person and I don't happen to know what kind beer is popular in America, but back home my favorite was called Carling.

"Alright, Nicky. I'll try to find it." Elmira wrote it down on the paper. Kar Ling... "So," she began, looking up from the sheet, "you like it here in America? Or is England much cooler?"

[ooc: >.< Thread ran away from me.]
Gwyn quirked an eyebrow as the girl refused her offer. It wasn't very often that happened, her suggestions being refused. But she brushed it off, aqua hues watching girl go to the front of the room so she could see better. It didn't make much difference though, because the teacher decided to leave the room, leaving the class unattended (yeah, that's a smart idea). She couldn't complain though, it gave them all free reign until he comes back..
"So, what's everyone doing Friday night?"
"Nothing!"
"I heard 'nothing.' For anyone else who's doing nothing, or is doing something not interesting or lame, I'm having a party on Friday night, starting at eight, with a bonfire near lifeguard station 7 on the beach right across the street from my house. I'll give anyone the address who is interested."
A party huh? Now she was talking Gwyn's language. Shutting her phone, Gwyn brought her knees down from her desk, standing up and brushing off her ruffled tutu-esque skirt before making her way to the front of the room where the girl was talking with some boy. She placed her hand on the back of the girls seat, leaning into the conversation.
"I'm interested in this party business. What're the details?"

"I'm interested in this party business. What're the details?"
Elmira smirked. It felt good to have people interested- her philosophy on parties was the bigger the better. Everything seemed to be going according to plan. "Like I was telling my buddy Nicky here, the party will start at eight, and end whenever you feel like leaving or pass out- I guess people can crash at my place later on- and it'll be this Friday night on the beach in front of my house, at lifeguard station seven."
She pulled out a crisp, bright yellow flier from her notebook. "I've been posting these around the school, but I kinda got interrupted by the student body president guy, so you can keep it. It's got the address and my cell and everything."
She handed it to Gwendolyn, her eyes mostly on the girl's hair. Elmira had an odd facination with hair, as she wanted to have a job in a hair salon one day, and this chick seemed to have a work of art as part of her tresses. Of course, it would be more appropriate for her to gush in awe at the night of the party, when she was no longer sober, instead of in the middle of class.
"I'm Elmira, by the way. What's your name?"

Gwyn took the flyer from the girl, eyes falling to scan over the information. It seemed pretty legit, and she was always up for a good party. If worse came to worse, and the party was a dud, they could always leave for something else like a club or something.
"I've been posting these around the school, but I kinda got interrupted by the student body president guy, so you can keep it. It's got the address and my cell and everything."
"Cool."
She flipped open her cell phone, typing in the girl's name and number as it was listed on the flyer. In a little memo section she typed in 'party,' to remind herself who this girl was. She had a bunch of contacts just like this one, connections to goings-on in case she found herself with a weekend with nothing to do.
"I'm Elmira, by the way. What's your name?"
"Gwendolyn, but you can call me Gwyn. Is it alright if my brother comes too? We're twins, you see."
You see, as if that explained everything.
