Hiyami grew concerned when he started to recall what had happened, particularly because he seemed to enjoy tormenting his body with each movement he made. Then he murmured under his breathe - he also seemed to believe that Dr. Clavering was innocent.
When he cursed under his breathe - seemingly regretting the fact that there were other casualties - she jumped slightly.
She'd helped to draw him to his feet - a slow, painful process.
"I know... But I have to find out for myself just what is really going. Something is definitely going down, and Dr. Clavering will need all the support she can get. I have a bad feeling.. the students are starting to lose trust in her, and trusting that Sin woman more." Ryuu told her, quelling her protests. Hiyami bit her lip, wanting nothing more than to help him. Anything, really. He was obviously quite dedicated to those that he trusted in.... Else he wouldn't be trying to hard now. On top of that, he hadn't tried to hit her yet. That was always a plus in her book.
And then, Hiyami realized she had a decision to make. She could do as little as she needed to - ensure he would be well and then run for it - or she could listen to that voice in the back of her head. It had started to grow in volume, demanding that she do as it bid.
She could run, or she could continue on. She could be safe, or she could risk herself. She could flee with her tail between her legs, or she could stand tall. And then, Hiyami had another thought: I'm not a victim anymore.
And that thought emboldened her greatly. Where she might have before simply done as he might have bid, now she felt she could and ought to do more. Although she was shorter than him by an inch and a great deal more slender and weak, she managed to prop him upright. She pulled one of his arms around her shoulders, and the other went around his waist.
She breathed in deeply, and then, she spoke: "Well, then, I guess she needs all the help she can get. It looks like someone's got her away from that Sin woman. It looks like he's trying to shield her... But it looks like it could get really ugly really fast."
And suddenly, Hiyami felt an odd sensation running through her. As if a wind had woken and run through her body. Although she didn't realize it, her Qi had surfaced. Because she was in contact with Ryuu - his shirt was long gone and all - her Qi had immediately gone into effect. As long as Ryuu didn't resist her, he would feel a bit lighter - because the Qi had recognized the poison and removed as much of it as it could, drawing it back into Hiyami - and the pain would steadily flow out of him, though the wound was still there.
"... I need to go to where Dr. Clavering is. That's where we should head to..." he said, and Hiyami nodded.
"A distraction should help, because I don't think just walking over there is a good idea." she said, and it would be at this point that, if Ryuu did not resist her Qi, she would flinch violently with sudden pain she'd feel gnawing at her chest.

Ryuu appreciated Hiyami's concern, really he did. But he couldn't just stand by and let the students swarm Dr. Clavering, especially when Ryuu knew that the organization she had been part of before, was out to get her, because she refused to do more research for their cause. He cursed underneath his breathe, which made Hiyami jump slightly, a rather humorous reaction. She then helped him to his feet, which he was grateful for, but it didn't stop him from quelling her protests, as he saw her bite her lip. Ryuu wanted to help Dr. Clavering, she had trusted him with information, now he wanted to return the favor. No matter how many students he would have to stop, he would protect her. Despite the fact Hiyami was an inch shorter than he was, and much more slender than he was, she still managed to prop him upright, which made him believe there was more to her than meets the eye. He felt her pull one of his arms around her shoulders, as her other arm went around his waist, fortifying her support of him even more.
"Arigato... (Thank you...)" He said softly, as he heard her breathe in deeply. "Hai... Did you see who managed to help her? We have to move as quickly as possibly, before things turn even more worse than what it already is." As Ryuu said this, he began to feel lighter, no longer feeling slightly weakened, even though the pain in his shoulder was now a dull throb. Ryuu had absolutely no idea it was because of Hiyami's Qi, and as such, wouldn't resist. Though if he did know, you bet he'd resist alright. He then told her he needed to go to where Dr. Clavering was, as he saw her nod. "...Yeah. No one is going to just let us waltz up and take Dr. Clavering away. But we should try to get as close as possibly without getting spotted first, then worry about creating a distraction." Ryuu then began to head towards where Dr. Clavering was, but the minute he saw Hiyami flinch violently, he stopped in his tracks immediately, it seemed more like he was the one supporting her, instead of what it was like before.
"Hiyami-chan! Are you alright!?" Ryuu exclaimed, as he darted forward and turned to face her, as he moved his right arm off her shoulder and caught her in his muscular arms. He looked at her with concern, just what the hell was going on? The minute he no longer felt weakened, Hiyami weakened slightly. It was like... it had transferred to Hiyami or something. He managed to prop her upright, and crouching down slightly in front of her, he would hoist her up, and holding onto her legs, would carry her piggy-back style. "Hold on tight..." He muttered, as he started running, he would try to get as close as he possibly could, without being spotted. Hold on Dr. Clavering... Help is on the way...

"Arigato..." he said to her, and Hiyami's eyes went wide. She hadn't heard her own language in.... a long time.
"Ii yo," she said hastily, Japanese for It's fine. She hadn't been expecting him to speak to her in Japanese, but another part of her shrugged. His name was proof of his heritage, and if his wealth was real - she'd seen more than enough proof of that - then it made sense that he'd know his own language.
"Hai... Did you see who managed to help her? We have to move as quickly as possibly, before things turn even more worse than what it already is." he asked her, reverting back to English.
Hiyami shook her head slowly, before nodding towards Adrian and the good doctor. There was a space in between the crowds to see, and she figured that they'd either have to merge into the crowds - to blend in - or do it a bit more slowly, but securely and go the more obvious route.
"Over there," she said, indicating with another nod in which direction their target was in. "But I don't know him."
As she spoke, she felt herself getting weaker - heavier, even. She was very confused. What had just happened? But the feeling didn't stop.
"...Yeah. No one is going to just let us waltz up and take Dr. Clavering away. But we should try to get as close as possibly without getting spotted first, then worry about creating a distraction." she heard Ryuu speaking in response to what she'd said. She felt a bit faint, and suddenly a wave of pain hit her, centering at her chest. She'd flinched - an obvious move - and had almost gone limp.
She realized through the pain that Ryuu was supporting her. Some helper, she thought to herself.
"Hiyami-chan! Are you alright!?" he demanded of her, shifting her so he could see her face better. She almost fell when he moved - why had she gotten so weak? - but he'd caught her.
She nodded, both confused and weak, but he'd moved quickly, placing her on his back. "Hold on tight..." he said, and Hiyami felt useless.
He started running, and she immediately grabbed at his shoulders. Useless and weak and spontaneously pointless she may be... But stupid she was not. Her mind whirred, trying to figure out what had happened.
Ryuu was moving around freely now - didn't his chest hurt? And a thought struck her. His chest. Her chest.
And he was moving freely. He wasn't in pain. All she could think of was that she must have absorbed it somehow. They'd had bodily contact the whole time, and he had a chest wound - which she must've been feeling.
And he was moving with that? she found herself thinking, a bit irritated with herself.
Still, at least she'd done something to help. It was probably more than she'd be able to do healthy, anyways. Since she was a noncombatant and didn't know what to do in a fight - aside from running like hell and dodging - this was easier. He wasn't as hindered as he might've been.
It was strange though. She felt the pain, but pain alone wouldn't make a person go as weak as it had made her. Certainly not her, for whom pain had once been a daily companion. Her conclusion? Either Ryuu was weird, her tolerance had fallen - which she doubted-, this absorbing thing was whack, or there was something in the bullet.

Ryuu looked at Hiyami in mild curiosity as her eyes widened at him speaking Japanese, which meant she understood it, and spoke it too. His gaze followed as she nodded in the direction of where Dr. Clavering was, as he saw through the space that was in between the crowds, who it was that had helped Dr. Clavering. It was Adrian Hanlon. Ryuu knew Dr. Clavering was in good hands with Adrian, he trusted him, but Adrian could only do so much. Ryuu could read the general aura of the crowd, and knew it was not looking well for the both of them. ["Yeah, I see them. I know the guy, his name is Adrian. Dr. Clavering is in good hands with him, but if we don't get there in time, Adrian will have more to worry about than just Sin."] The moment he noticed Hiyami flinch, he stopped in his tracks and supported her, as he moved to face her, catching her in his arms. He saw nod, looking confused, but there was no time to lose, he placed her on his back, before taking off at a run, as he felt her grab at his shoulders.
Although he was concentrating on reaching Adrian and Dr. Clavering without being spotted by anyone, especially Sin, his mind was focusing on trying to figure out what was going on. One minute, he felt weakened by the bullet that Dr. Clavering had designed to disable and temporarily weaken the target without killing it, since it was made of solidified insulin, and was soluble in the blood, which would destroy the glucose in the bloodstream, the next minute, he no longer felt weakened, and Hiyami nearly collapsed. It was like the substance in his body had transferred to Hiyami somehow... or she absorbed it. There was only one way Ryuu could think of that would make that plausible. She had a Qi too. It would make sense too, seeing as they had bodily contact with one another this whole time. Though his shoulder was still throbbing from the bullet wound, but at least now, he was able to move. ["... You absorbed the substance that the bullet was composed of, didn't you?"] He asked quietly, as he darted behind the crowd, moving silently.
["It was your Qi that did that..."] Ryuu by this time, was directly behind Adrian and Dr. Clavering, though the crowd blocked him from view. He had to dispel the crowd somehow, someway, so he could help Adrian and Dr. Clavering. And then he spotted a patch of dry grass. Recently, the days had been hot, and the grass had been neglected to be watered. Clapping his hands together, Ryuu then made a flame the size of lighter flame appear on the tip of his finger, before bending down, and lit the grass on fire, as he darted back, putting the flame on his finger out before he turned his head slightly, looking back at Hiyami, as he brought a finger to his lips, asking her to stay silent. The reaction was instantaneous, like a wildfire, the flame sprinted across the dry grass, as smoke filled the air. "Hey, do you smell... FIRE!!" Ryuu heard someone begin to say, before shouting. The crowd began to panic, now more worried about the fire than the good Doctor and Adrian, as Ryuu took this chance, and darted forward, pushing through the crowd, before emerging directly behind Dr. Clavering. "Layla." Ryuu said quietly, right by her ear, using her first name once, and just only once. It was the only thing he could think of that would catch her attention, and hopefully not startle her too badly. ["I won't let Sin get you. I told you before, I'll always have your back, and I meant it."]

She accepted what he said at once when they began to move, seeing as he knew more about the school and its people than she did. When he asked about the bullet - whether she'd absorbed it or not, she'd simply shaken her head, unsure.
"Wakaranai yo." she said. It was Japanese for I don't know. And she really didn't. It sure felt like it, especially if he was moving. "How could I?"
That was something she really, really wanted to know. Where the hell had this random absorbing thing come from? She'd actually thought it might be part of Ryuu's power or weirdness or something.
When he told her it was her Qi that had done it, she promptly frowned, her mind whirring. She'd heard of it - she heard of it all the time, in fact. Qis were constantly awakening, though recently not as much. A number of the students did, however, have some form of Qi. But she'd never applied that to herself.
"That's... not possible." she murmured. "I'm a noncombatant!" She wanted to protest it, but the more reasonable part of her mind knew that it had to be true. There was no other way she could've suddenly become weak as Ryuu became strong. And it was possible that not all Qi had to be relevant to battle.
Which led her onwards to yet another conclusion. There had been something in that bullet. Something abnormal. Since she'd seen no sign of it - if it was in Ryuu, he wouldn't be moving, and it hadn't been anywhere on the ground near them - she guessed it was safe to assume it had been soluble. Which meant that whatever had been injected into him had entered her.
And the only thing she wanted to know?
"What the hell is going on?" she'd asked rhetorically. Her chest hurt, and she was starting to lose feeling in her body. She wondered if that was normal. Perhaps it was an effect of that stupid bullet? She wasn't sure.
And then Ryuu had showed her his own ability - fire. He'd set the grass on fire, before motioning for her silence. The fire spread, and within seconds, because dried grass was easily devoured, smoke began to rise.
And with the smoke came the scent of heat and fire, and a bit of a burn in her nostrils from being so close to the origin of the scent. Burning grass smelled gross. Almost as bad as wet dog, and that was special.
The crowd began to panic, and Hiyami half-thought Ryuu would leave her somewhere so he could work unhindered. She'd been tempted to let go when he'd had only one hand holding her so she'd be less of a nuisance, but her survival instincts had kicked in. Never get left alone by a fire. Bad things would happen.
And then he'd darted forward, moving through the panicking crowd. Hiyami was impressed they hadn't been knocked over and trampled. But nonetheless, he managed to get them - both of them, another surprise - over by Layla. Or rather, behind her. And all the while, Hiyami was cursing her weightlessness, and blessing it at the same time.
Why on earth was she such a stupid stick? Someone could pick her up and win a fight, because she was too weak to do anything else. She mentally scowled, even as Ryuu spoke to reassure Dr. Clavering.
She noted that he spoke using her first name - Layla - instead of her title. He'd also switched over to Japanese, which meant that Dr. Clavering understood some, if not all of it. In fact, with her renowned cosplay habits, Hiyami wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Clavering was also Japanese.
And the word choice he'd used was also more intimate than that of the professional teacher-student relationship. They seemed to be friends. Hiyami made a note of that, too. Something else also caught her attention. They may be friends and all... But the words he'd used?
They indicated that Ryuu and Dr. Layla Clavering had some amount of history.
And Hiyami wanted to know what was going on. After all... Since when did a doctor and a student end up in trouble together? Hiyami's eyes narrowed as her mind whirred. Ryuu was with Emily, so it obviously wasn't sexual or even romantic. So, as she'd concluded, it was definitely friendship.... But if Ryuu was involved, there was a pretty good chance that Emily was involved, if only because Emily also got along well with the doctor.
And on top of that, the doctor was being targeted in some strange ploy. There couldn't be some simple reason for this, especially with Emily in the hospital, and others on their way there.
"What's going on?" she muttered, not particularly expecting an answer.

So she did do such a terrible, terrible thing... Layla wasn't so sure about what to think of herself at the moment. Was that drug she was forced to take when she was kidnapped that potent as to basically override her own morals and beliefs to do such a thing? Well, Layla was assured though that she hasn't gotten to the point of being able to kill anyone. Although, there as still some slight worry, even as the conversation between Sin and the students continued. "But I believe I'm going to have to decline your offer. If you want Dr. Clavering, you're going to have to shoot me." Layla's eyes opened wide and shook her head. "No." She said, " I am the teacher, and I should protect my students." Layla's voice was weak, but determined. But then, another boy began to speak. "Stop. I don't know who you are, but you don't get to just walk out of here with the good nurse. In fact, you seem quite interested in carrying her off to safety, considering what she just did. Are you affiliated with the assassin?""I... I... I didn't-""And you. You must know who she really is. Don't lie to me. I can see right through you." "Oh could you, brat?""Tell me...who sent you here? What is your connection to this woman?""I have no connection with her. Now stand aside." Oh, was she ready to shoot Adrian. She was very, VERY close to having what she wanted. That revenge she had long wanted to have. It was then when Ethan kicked the gun out of Sin's hand and knocked her back a few steps. "YOU BRAT!" Sin's eyes flared with hate and fury as she took a pocketknife from her pocket and pointed it at Ethan. "Don't make me." "Hey, do you smell... FIRE!!" Oh god, more mass mayhem. Students began to run about, panicking at the now burning grass. The smoke began to spread like wildfire, and it hid Layla and everyone else in a thick layer of smoke. "Layla." Layla looked towards the direction of the voice. Why, it was Mister Hikari. "Hikari-san!" ["I won't let Sin get you. I told you before, I'll always have your back, and I meant it."]"[Thanks.]," She said, trying to pull herself up - but there was very little chance for escape, as Sin was determined to kill her. A shadow would come out of nowhere and sounds of bullets firing would resound all throughout the burning grounds. Were they dead? Wind came and blew some of the smoke away, revealing Sin's bloodied body and... a rather surprising appearance by a man with striking blue hair and a gun in his hands. "... Shin...ichi..."
It had been 4 hours since the event, and the students had gathered in the Auditorium to recuperate and check those whom had been affected by the said attack. Layla Clavering had been duly questioned and was proven not guilty. She was under the influence of a drug. What about Emily? Who was taken from the hospital not so long ago? Apparently, Shinichi had saved her too from the Research Facility that held her captive. There were many, many things that were not clear, even to Layla. All these years, she had thought Shinichi to be dead. Maybe, it was time to start again?
