A Question for the Masses

Okay, so I've had some bad luck with joining boards that have died in the past, quite a few actually, and even though I haven't had the best of luck getting one of my own boards up and alive I figured I'd see what everyone thought of my ideas. This board is far from dying, which I give the staff and members major props for putting together such a successful board, but I'm just so sick of Xin related boards that I want to make a different type. Xin boards have been my home for nearly three years, before them I'd simply right short stories and the like, and after all of the board deaths I've experienced I just need some time and space from them. With that all said, I'll get to the point of this poll/thread.

If you've read the question for the poll I'm sure you've surmised that I intend on making some sort of super-powered board. Now this isn't something that just came out of nowhere, I've actually wanted to do one of the two types for awhile now, but I just haven't had the time to do them because of real life and other Role Playing obligations. Now that I'm free of every role playing board I've been on, and real life has calmed down slightly, I feel the urge to finally try to create one of these two worlds. There are probably a lot of questions that you may have, and I'm going to try and answer some of the more obvious ones.

Question #1: Will there be any canon characters in either of the super-powered ideas that you have in mind?
Answer: No, unless someone can convince me otherwise. I really don't like people playing canon characters simply because no matter how much they think they can pull it off they almost always mess things up.

Question #2: If there won't be any canon character, what would you do with the setting of each of the two worlds?
Answer: Well, for X-Men, I could do one of many things with it. I could have it be after a time where Charles Xavier has passed on and there is a new Head Master of the Xavier Institute, or I could simply create a completely alternate universe in which Charles never existed. Whichever of the two the masses find more appealing, or I could simply think of something different. As for a Heroes board, it would more than likely just be an alternate world not related to the current TV series at all other than the premises. So in other words it'd be like completely restarting the series with new characters and storylines.

Question #3: Will this board have stats, or be completely role playing and storyline based?
Answer: The way that I see it now, and this may change depending on opinions and the like, but I'm pretty sure I'd make it a role playing and storyline based board. As of right now I don't really see any need to have stats, instead sticking with the traditional strengths and weaknesses of a character and making sure that everyone stay true to those strengths and weaknesses.

Those are just three obvious questions that I'm sure many of you would ask when it came down to making a board based around one of the ideas. Now I'm still completely open for more questions or anything else that you may want to talk about related to the subject at hand. When this thread is done, and an overall winner has been decided, I will take any staff applications through PM with your staff and role playing qualifications. Thank you for your time and input.

My initial reaction was to pick 'other', but I think X-men would be hella tight. Heroes is basically X-men without costumes, though, so you could go either way and it'd be neat. There's just... something about a Heroes based board that doesn't sit well with me, but I can't put my finger on it.

Well I'd like to get some more opinions from other people in the community, but its looking fairly one-sided and in the way that I thought that it would go. I, personally, wanted to make a X-Men board so I'm glad that the people that have voted voted for X-Men. I may even integrate some of the aspects of Heroes into X-Men, even though most of Heroes aspects seem to have been in the X-Men universe one way or another. I'll continue to leave this open for anyone else to vote, give a reason or ask some more questions about the general idea.

Either way, I will be taking applications through PM now so anyone that would like to take part in the board's create, whether it be X-Men or Heroes in the end, please send an application with your experiences with staff, board creation and role playing history. I'm open to giving people of any skill level a shot at helping with the creation, but once done I will only pick the top dogs to actually remain full staff. Again, thank you for your time and input.

The super-powered genre has never really been my thing, since I feel it tends to get too dramatic and repetitive. But after reading the basics of your concept, I sense that your idea shows some promise for its own creative edge. Even though I don't watch the show, I've always been curious about Heroes, and even if you go with X-Men, I sense the statless side would help you take on a similar tone to the popular show.

If this board looks cool, then I might very well join it. You strike me as a competent guy, so I feel confident that this idea could turn out well, so long as you remain determined to stick to what you want, and not trying to satisfy everyone else.
