I would like to reopen this discussion. Basically what I am thinking is this, members get 100 dollars for bringing a new member to the board.

I've got one other computer in my house hold. What stops me from acting like a "friend" and making an account I'll never RP on again using it? What about my school computers? Work computer?

It's not good to encourage spreading the word of a board through a reward system. Just leads to greed and exploitation.

Hmm... I suppose that is true. What if you had to register with your Social Security number? j/k... Anyway, I see your point. What if they had to prove that they were a different person. Like with a "Hello 42!" Piece of paper in a picture?

I think it's a decent idea, just because the reward isn't significant enough to merit small-scale exploitation, and probably not even worth large-scale exploitation, either.

Think about it... with Greg's idea of 100 cash per new recruit, you'd have to recruit 10 people to make 1000 dollars, which, generally, is about the bare minimum of what you need to get anything GOOD. Shit, if you care THAT much that you'll fake 10 accounts just to make 1000 bucks... maybe you deserve that money after all.

That person invited has to reach the next post rank first.

Granted, there's still the possibility of abuse, but blatant spammers should be caught relatively easily.

In this way also, we can raise that cash bonus for bringing in people.

Inviter would keep track of the people they invited, as would the staff. Then, if its in the record that someone invited someone, then, yeah.

Also, this would probably be post-ex facto, Justin. So past invites probably wouldn't count.

I dunno. This idea can be shot down or be used, but just throwing the ideas out there.

There are enough active members and people with dual accounts that asking for more activity isn't necessary.
