Mental Information
Personality:Emi is a bit on the shy side, but friendly and easy to get along with. Compared to other Japanese people, she isn’t as cold or overly polite. It probably has to do with spending a few years in the States and learning how to deal with people from various cultures and backgrounds.
Despite being shy, she likes to be independent and prefers not to be held back by boyfriends, clingy friends, and her brothers. She likes to move forward, and her favorite saying has to do with that.
“Fall seven times, stand up eight.”
It’s a famous Japanese saying that she encountered years ago. It basically means to never give up, which Emi believes is the key to success. She’s dedicated to her studies, sports, calligraphy, and club activities. If she’s really into something, she’ll do more than finish the job, making sure that everything is perfect. Emi isn’t exactly a perfectionist, but she’ll make sure that she does everything the right way.
At times, she can be a bit mischievous, especially if she’s in the mood for having fun. When around people that she is close to, she’ll be a little more outgoing and willing to show her fun side.

Physical Information
Build:Like most Japanese girls, Emi is short and skinny. Her thin build allows her to run fast and move past others easily which is extremely helpful in most of the sports she plays. However, with her thin body comes a price: she has horrible upper body strength. She has no visible muscles to show off which isn’t that bad, considering that she is female.
Luckily, all that exercise blessed her with a flat stomach which she can show off without feeling embarrassed (as if her father and brothers would allow her to wear something to show off that much skin). The only price she had to pay for her thin body is lack of chest. It’s so small that she doesn’t even have to wear a bra.
Although her upper body isn’t that muscular, her legs are a different matter. Years of various sports gave her well-defined legs that are perfect for running. However, she’s short and believes that it would be nicer to be a few more inches taller so she could show off her legs.
Defining Marks:Emi doesn’t have an tattoos or noticeable scars unless you can count the scabs on her legs as something. She doesn’t even have pierced ears! However, she does have a few plans in the future about getting tattoos as soon as she can get her brothers off her back.
Description: Her face is oval-shaped, but considered cute in Japan. Although she is Japanese, her eyes are slightly bigger and eyelashes slightly longer compared to other people in her country.
Her hair is short, almost reaching to her shoulders. She covers up a high forehead with bangs, and she does have to admit that her hairstyle is tomboyish but cute.
She dislikes high heels and makeup and will only wear them on certain occasions. On normal days, she’ll put on jeans, shorts, or a miniskirt on the bottom. On the stop she’ll wear a t-shirt or a tank top, depending on the weather.
The more revealing, the better, she believes. Since she loves annoying her father and brothers, she’ll wear anything that will gain their disapproval.
Fighting Information
Fighting Style:Kickboxing or maybe even freestyle
Years Practiced:Three years
Description of style: Emi is athletic and fast. In middle school she realized that she could use the abilities she had to defend herself or even take down another person. However, she got along with the students at her school which obviously meant that there was so need to learn how to fight, but she still had a fascination for it.
She learned most of her moves just by plain observation. Many of the boys in her class were rowdy and often had fun by wrestling. Since she was a girl, she didn’t join in on it even though she wanted to do so. She just watched and learned how some of the boys got out of pins and trapped each other in holds.
Her first chance to test out her skills was 12. Her three brothers visited Tokyo for the summer, and like most middle and high school boys their age, they were extremely rowdy. They would wrestle and even go as far as to fight inside the house. After a week, Emi joined in and surprised her brothers by getting out of a pin. However, they never took her seriously and just let her join in.
A few months later, she discovered a kickboxing gym near her house. After begging her grandparents, she was allowed to enroll. She learned how to punch and use martial arts-style kicks to fight.
With her training in kickboxing, speed, and moves gained from observation, she developed a style that fits her strengths perfectly.
Overall Strengths: Emi is fast and easy dodges moves that come her way. Opponents may even compare her to soap as she is too slippery to get a tight grip on. Trying to pin her down is futile since she it is easy for her to find a way out.
Her kicks are pretty deadly. She’s great at catching annoying male off guard and hitting a very sensitive spot. Emi thanks having three older brothers to practice that move on. She’s also flexible enough to do flips or bend her body into certain positions. Although it doesn’t help that much in a fight, she often does just for the sake of showing off.
She’s resourceful. During a fight, she’ll look around to find anything that she could use to her advantage. Except for guns and other life-threatening weapons, she’ll use anything to get her out of a tight mess without feeling any regrets.
Overall Weaknesses:Her biggest problem is her experience. Although she’s a fast learner and a hard worker, she’s not as good as any of the fighters who practiced their style for years. She’s not as strong either, and struggles with lifting heavy things. Since she’s a skinny Japanese girl, it is normal for her to have weak upper body strength, but no matter how much she lifts weights, she just can’t seem to get stronger.
Her low strength just really gets in the way. She would love to take down her opponents without causing much harm by using pins, but holding down a struggling person is impossible for someone as weak as her. Emi often has to rely on more violent methods to get an opponent down.
Emi isn’t as honest as she wants to be and often lies to spare the feelings of a close friend. In Japan, doing that is OK, but she realized that it isn’t acceptable in the United States. Since she’s used to living in Japanese culture, moving to a new country is hard for her, and she doesn’t know any of the customs which may get her in trouble with some of the Americans.
History Information
History: Emi’s father and mother met at a university in Japan, started dating, and married within two years. After they both graduated Emi’s oldest brother, Hiro, was born. They both struggled to raise the boy since they were still in college with nothing more than part-time jobs to support themselves. Both sets of parents refused to help, believing their marriage to be too early.
They gave birth to a second son named Kei, causing more financial difficulties to rise up. However, a few relatives who felt bad sent money to help the couple out. By the time they had their next kids were born, they had already graduated from college and found jobs at companies. Emi’s father worked at an American company which caused him to move to California. His wife stayed behind in Japan and raised her two sons alone. She soon found out that she was pregnant and gave birth to twins a few months later.
Perhaps she was unhappy with being left alone to raise four kids. Well, one day she left the house and never came back. Emi and Masahiro grew up barely knowing anything about their mother.
When Emi’s father became more financially stable, he sent for his two sons to move to the States with him. Emi and her twin brother were left behind and forced to attend a Japanese middle school. They lived with their grandparents who treated them well despite the fact that they disapproved of their parent’s marriage.
Emi and Masahiro got along well, and were practically inseparable. It was like that until they both graduated elementary school. Masahiro was sent to America to join his father and two brothers while Emi stayed behind in Japan. With his good grades, her older brother was accepted to an elite boarding school in New York.
Emi entered middle school feeling quite lonely. She busied herself by doing sports and working hard on her studies. With her grandmother’s recommendation, she took of calligraphy and found that she was good at it. Every stroke released her frustration and made her feel a little better. After years of studying English and learning about American culture, her father agreed to let her join them in California.
She moved in and realized how strict and overprotective her two oldest brothers were. They gave her lectures on how to dress and to stay away from those Hakujin(white) boys. Her father was busy with his job, leaving her brothers to raise her. Emi always wanted to move to America, but now she’s regretting it because of the way her brothers treat her.
