Haru is a laid-back girl who finds herself in a crisis -- well, with regards to her sexuality, but she never really shows anything else.
She's, in general, a very empathic person -- an ideal friend who is more or less willing to lend an ear to anyone. However, she could get rather emotional when it comes to herself; one attribute to herself in which she openly hates, but finds difficult to shake off.
You'll find that Haru would NEVER turn on an offer to eat or drink. She loves food and more or less ends up critiquing it. Being quite a good chef herself, she's been known to know how to make something a month after tasting it the first time.
She's very adept in using her face to show expressions, somewhat even bordering being anime-ish due to slight otakuness, but she is more or less sensible in using those faces.

Despite being obese, Haru didn't really end up being very blessed on the chest side. But she wears this vest underneath all her shirts that flattens whatever is down there to make her look like a guy. It more or less restricts her breathing, but she has gotten used to it.
Haru's arms are not very muscular and has quite the fatty deposit, however it's still proportional to her body and not as round as much people would define initially as obese. One could say though, that her arms are pretty powerful.

Haru has been born into a normal, loving, and liberal Japanese family in the United States. Her life had rather been rather uneventful until the third grade, when she started to gain weight.
She went through her entire Primary education bullied, and emotionally battered by teachers and fellow students alike. Haru had more or less developed a bad sense of self-worth, and started hating society in general at it's prejudice towards the physically unusual.
It was found, more or less, that the underlying cause of her obesity was the development of her bulimic tendency -- though normal bulimia would make people want to eat a lot and THEN throw up, she just eats a lot and doesn't throw up. Why? She unfortunately has a high threshold for such things, and would take quite a lot to make her throw up.
Life was pretty weird -- though the epic amounts of food may have screwed up her metabolism enough to put her weight out of control, she had been able to taste many things and learned how to cook. The dishes she had made from Grade five onwards were outstanding, and more or less people would declare her a genius when it comes to food.
Thus, food had become her life and only source of motivation to live on.
The past few years though, probably had screwed up her sexuality, as she found herself falling for a friend of the same sex before her graduation from public elementary school. It confused her all throughout that summer and decided, before ending up on Public High School #42, that she would graduate from High School having already made up her mind on what she really is.
However, she decided on one thing --

- Computer graphics - Haru doesn't really do well with computers in the technical sense, but she finds it interesting to mess with computer programs -- photoshop, specifically.
- Surfing the net - More or less, an internet addict. Simply put.
- Doodling -- though she's not really very good at it, Haru finds herself doodling on her notebooks a lot of times. It often gets the professor's attention and mistakes it for her not listening.

- Cooking - Her weight is the ultimate testimony of her cooking talents. She can cook, bake, and deal with difficult dishes with minimal problems.
