Fighting Information
Fighting Style: Xing Yi Quan, Shuai Jiao, Ba Gua
Years Practiced: Xing Yi/Ba Gua: Two years, Shuai Jiao: seven months
Description of style: Xing Yi:is one of the major "internal" (n¨¨iji¨¡) Chinese martial arts. The word translates approximately to "Form/Intention Boxing", or "Shape/Will Boxing", and is characterized by aggressive, seemingly linear movements and explosive power. There is no single organizational body governing the teaching of the art, and several variant styles exist.
A practitioner of xingyiquan uses coordinated movements to generate bursts of power intended to overwhelm the opponent, simultaneously attacking and defending. Forms vary from school to school, but include barehanded sequences and versions of the same sequences with a variety of weapons. These sequences are based upon the movements and fighting behavior of a variety of animals. The training methods allow the student to progress through increasing difficulty in form sequences, timing and fighting strategy.
Ba Gua: is one of the major "internal" (a.k.a. N¨¨iji¨¡) Chinese martial arts. B¨¡gu¨¤ zh¨£ng literally means "eight trigram palm," referring to the trigrams of the I Ching (Yijing), one of the canons of Taoism.
The practice of circle walking, or "Turning the Circle", as it is sometimes called, is baguazhang's characteristic method of stance and movement training. For a beginner the circle is six to twelve feet in diameter.[5] Practitioners walk around the edge of the circle in various low stances, facing the center, and periodically change direction as they execute forms.[6] Students first learn flexibility and proper body alignment through such exercises, then move on to more complex forms and internal power mechanics. The internal aspects of baguazhang are similar to, yet distinct from, those of Xingyi and Tai Chi.
Shuai Jiao: is a Chinese martial art which combines grappling and striking. It was originally only a style of sport wrestling, but later striking and blocking were added to it. It sometimes also refers to modern Chinese and Mongolian wrestling.
Overall Strengths: Gifted with a adequately honed Body and a fast acting mind Daniel makes for a more than capable fighter even if pitted against multiple opponents. His biggest focus is making his whole body something which will get him through difficult situations so he trains tiresly on days and on others will focus on increasing his intellect.
Overall Weaknesses: Daniel is somewhat arrogant and looks down on some people until he sees some promise in them, this mindset makes him somewhat not to great to be around constantly and may even make him quite a few enemies while at the school. The weakest art of his body would have to be his left side, though has a good handle he will always revert to his strongest side which is his right, in a fight the observant fighter will see this and try to exploit it.
