Mental Information
Personality:
Generally, he is quiet. Not that he isn’t one to hold a conversation, or to say he isn’t outgoing. He just does more listening than speaking. He is thoughtful before he runs his mouth. However, he will speak his mind, and will stand by his beliefs without faltering.
Thanks to his martial arts mentor, he is much friendlier than he would have been without the guidance. He will accept help, but hates when people pity him. He has never felt sorry for his condition, and believes no one else should either. He is not, by any means, a pushover. He has a quick wit, and doesn't take anyone’s garbage.
He is a wise and gentle sole, willing to help out wherever he is needed. He is usually the first one people go to when they have a problem. He is surprisingly wise for his age, and is able to think clearly to come to a solution to almost any situation.
Likes: Asian culture and Asian food, especially ramen and sushi. Music of most all kinds, except for rap. His mentor, Suichi.
Dislikes: Jack, and people who are cruel. Oh, and loud noises.
Mentality/Ideal/Belief: He goes by the motto "Follow your heart." He lets his heart and instincts guide his actions.
Physical Information
Build: Medium but lean build.
Defining Marks: There is a scar on his ribs, as well as one on each hand. This was given to him by a rival student at his old school, and he tends to cover these as much as possible. Also, his eyes look... offf. Due to their appearance, it tends to unnerve people, and so he wears his sunglasses often, rarely removing them.
Description:
Connor likes cargo pants and plain white or black t-shirts, with a larger, loose-fitting shirt or jacket left open in the front, and sneakers. His hair is a little long on top, and short in the back. Mostly, he lets it fall as is, giving him a very casual look. This is his typical style, and the average outfit you’d find him in on any given day.
If you came across him, you would probably find a boyish smile on his face. His casual appearance make him easily approachable, giving an innocent and boyish charm. His lean build hides his strength, and the lack of vision tends to keep his opponent's guard down, as most tend to underestimate him.
Because he is blind, he keeps his walking stick with him at all times. Though it isn’t nessisary for him to get around, he can usually be found with it to aid in his mobility. His green eyes always seem to hold a blank stare, which tends to creep most people out.
Fighting Information
Fighting Style: Blind Eye
Years Practiced: 8
Description of style: A custom style developed by Connor and Suichi (his instructor) that allows Connor to fully utilize his strengths in his remaining senses, giving the impression of a "sixth" sense. It was Suichi's Four Element Kung Fu modified and taught in a way that Connor could use it.
Stance: Balance is a major part of this style, and it begins with the stance. Basic in nature, it begins with the feet at shoulder-width apart. The right foot is back, and the foot turned outward at a slight angle. The left foot is in front, and also turned out at a similar angle. The left and right hands are parallel to the ground, the left held further from the body. Both hands are open, with the fingers relaxed and slightly curved. This whole stance gives a solid rooting to the ground, and a good defensive posture, all while allowing for versatility of movement.
Attacking/Defending: This style has no airborne attacks. Doing so would loose the connection to the ground, and Connor wouldn't be able to "see" his opponent. The punches and kicks are equivalent to those used in Tae-Kwon-Do.
The defense relies, once again, on balance, with the weight evenly distributed, Connor can move freely at the last possible moment. This would allow him to have a quick counter strike, or gain leverage on his opponent and use their momentum to drive them to the ground.
Overall Strengths: Connor is strong willed, and very kind. He is open, and his past doesn't keep him from trusting others. He has a willingness to help anyone who asks, and he would gladly put himself in front of danger to protect another. Should anyone find a friend in Connor, they would have a very loyal friend indeed. He is very bright, and tends to use his intellect to overcome most obstacles.
In the case of his fighting, Connor can think on his feet, and his "blind sight" aids him where normal sight would be deceiving. He is so used to his blind condition that he doesn't see it as a handicap, and even accepts and makes jokes about it. To him, it is just the way he is.
Due to the loss, or rather lack of eyesight, his other senses are heightened. This gives him a bit of an edge in certain situations over the typical human being.
Overall Weaknesses: His open heart, as much as it may be a strength, is also his weakness. It leaves him able to be hurt where it counts... in the heart. He can be manipulated if he isn't careful. His past, though not something he dwells on does effect him, and should he ever meet up with the student responsible for his scars, his fear and memory of that day might just be paralyzing.
As far as his fighting style goes, if an opponent is airborne, he can't "see" them, as they make no vibration through the ground. Thus, most any airborne attack is not able to be countered or defended against, the one major downside to his style.
He can also be "crippled" by extremely loud noises. Think Daredevil. His "vision" becomes blurred, and he will drop to the ground if the noise is loud enough. He is uncomfortable in places where loud nlise is abundant, such as dance clubs.
History Information
History: Connor was born to Sorcha and Samule Dwyre. The doctor had informed them that his eyes had not developed correctly, and his eyesight would deteriorate. They were a loving couple, and this did not concern them at all. The first three years of Connor’s life were filled with love and caring. Then, shortly after Connor's third birthday, an accident took Samule’s life, and left Sorcha to raise Connor alone.
By five, Connor was completely blind, and walking with the aid of a cane. His mother was finding it more and more difficult to work and raise a blind child. She had become overprotective without the added support of her husband. She felt she needed help, and that Connor needed a father figure. She started a relationship with a man she met through a friend at work. After a few short months (perhaps too soon), she had re-married and all seemed well.
The new “father” Jack, started slow with revealing his true self. He was a heavy drinker, and Sorcha was unaware of this till it was too late. He had started with verbal abuse, and slowly got to the point of physical. He had come home, and Sorcha had asked him if he could help her with dinner. He grabbed her, spun her around, and shouted, “Damn it! Why should I have to come home form work, just so I have more to do?” At this point, six-year-old Connor came into the kitchen.
“Stop yelling at mommy!”
Jack shot his hand out and struck the boy, knocking him to the floor. He then walked away, muttering “God-damned kid.” He went off to the bedroom and passed out.
That day, something inside Conner changed. He started developing a negative attitude towards people. At the same time, he began to pay very close attention to the sounds around him, more so than he had before. He did this so his mother wouldn’t have to baby his as much, and he could rely on himself rather than other people for basic, everyday needs. At 8, his school offered a self-defense course. Connor had stayed after school to “observe” the class. When it had ended and he got up to leave, he heard something. Suddenly, he felt something in the air. He instinctively moved, and realized that someone had just tried to hit him. “You are quite talented to have been able to dodge that.” The voice belonged to the teacher of the self defense class.
“Do you make a habit of trying to hit kids?” Connor was annoyed. This was the second adult who had swung at him. The teacher only laughed.
“My young friend, it was merely a test. I had a strong feeling you would have dodged my punch. If I saw that you would not have, I would have pulled the attack.” Connor could feel himself being “sized up” by the teacher.
“What is your name?”
“It’s Connor. What’s yours? I didn’t hear it before.”
“My name is Suichi. Connor, let me ask you a question. How would you like to learn self defense? With your natural talents, I think you could become one of my best students.”
Connor tried his best not to laugh. What was wrong with this guy?
“Um, you may not have noticed, but I’m blind. That means I can’t see. How am I supposed to learn to fight if I can’t see?”
“How do you walk without walking directly into a wall? How do you go through your everyday life in the dark? You don’t need to see to fight, and I can show you how.”
“Look, I can’t pay you. I have no money and” the teacher cut him off.
“Your payment to me will be to show up. I will never ask for anything more than you to be here, and to put your heart into this. That is all I will ever ask.”
“Sure. Fine. When do I start?”
“Be here at the same time tomorrow. Wear something comfortable.”
And so it was, for the next six years, Connor showed up, and Suichi taught him how to fight. Connor used what he was taught, and with his teacher, developed the style he used today.
::Six Years Later::
“Connor, you have been my student for six years. I am very proud of you, and your progress.”
Connor bowed to his teacher. “Thank you. Without you, I probably would have been much worse off. Take care.”
Connor arrived home to hear his step-father yelling at his mother again. “Woman, I am telling you for the last time...”
“Yes, I know. I’m sorry.”
“No, she’s not… but you are.” Connor stood in the doorway. He was so tired of the way this monster had treated them for so long. This would end now.
“What did you say? You should know your place. At least your mother does.”
“I’m not a slave, and neither is my mother. Get out and leave us alone.”
“Connor, honey, no, do...” a slap to the face had sent her sprawling.
“Shut up! So, you’re a man now. I don’t know what got into you, but I’m gonna show you you’re just a boy.”
Connor heard the heavy steps. He felt the vibration in the air. He did not move until the last second. Then, he ducked underneath the punch aimed at his face, and shot his had right into Jack's ribcage. He released his rage into that shot, and two of the man’s ribs cracked. Jack staggered back.
“I only wish I could see, so I could take in the look on your face right now.”
Connor kicked out then, connecting with Jack’s face, sending him right to the ground.
“I swear you little punk, “ Jack spat blood as he spoke to Connor. “I swear that I’ll kill you.”
“Go ahead and try.” But, instead of going for Connor, Jack lunged at Sorcha instead. He grabbed her by the neck and growled,
“This is the type of kid you have, you ungrateful bitch!” and he threw her. As she fell, her head smashed the table, breaking her neck. Connor heard the snap, and dropped to his knees. He knew instantly what had happened.
“MOM!!!”
That was it. Connor was on his feet. He knew exactly where Jack was. He lifted himself off the ground, and walked over to Jack.
“You monster. You don’t deserve to breathe.” He picked up the phone off the table, and as Jack went to grab him, Connor swung. The thump of Jack’s body hitting the ground was the last thing he heard before passing out.
...
Connor awoke in a small bedroom, one that he was sure he'd seen before, but couldn't place at the moment.
“I am glad to see you are alright.”
“Master!” Suichi was seated in a chair facing the bed.
“I am not your master; just a teacher, and a friend. Now, tell this old man what happened.”
Connor told him everything. Suichi listened, and nodded. “Looks like you will need a place to stay. Don’t worry… I will make all the arrangements, and I will talk to the police. You only have one year before you start in your new school. You can stay with me until then.” Connor started to protest, but Suichi stopped him before he began.
“I am not taking no for an answer. We will collect your things in the morning. Right now, get some sleep. They will release you in a few hours.
::One Year Later::
“Good luck in school. I have set you up with the school housing, and there meal plan. Do well, and visit me.”
“I will. Thank you.”
Connor got out of the car and walked towards the front of the building, tapping his stick to get an idea of the walk way.
With all that had happened, school should be a piece of cake.
At least, that was what he thought. It wasn't his new attendance at PS#42, but the school he attended right before hand. There was one student in particular who didn't like the "blind hero." The most dangerous villain in the school during Connor's attendance, had taken a dislike to him. In the name of his gang, he made an example of him. He crucified Connor, stabbing him in the chest and nailing him to the wood, surrounded by a ring of fire. The scars on his hands and chest are still there, a constant reminder of the incident.
He was pulled out of that school, and moved with Suichi to a new location, to try to leave the past behind, from his mother's passing, Jack, and the gang attack. Now he enters PS#42 with new hope and a new start.

On a side note, I used to RP on 552 a while ago. I am starting here as a new student, but I kept the history of what happened. Hope that is alright. Also, as Connor uses his cane to walk, he usually has it on him. I was curious how I would rate that as a weapon or item. Let me know, and I will use it appropriately.
Looking forward to RPing here. ^_^
