Beating Hearts Baby (Kate)

[Kate]

First round was over, and things were starting out pretty easily. Kate was handed the spinner once again. The blonde got right hand green. She bent over and placed her right hand next to Adrian's leg. She flashed a smile straight at Adrian, up between her silvery blonde locks.

"Hey there handsome."

It was a tease, smiling up at him like an angel. Croaker spun again, getting blue with his right foot. He slid it across, surprising agile for such a big man. This game was going to get very interesting rather quickly. The female was getting ready to giggle again, wondering how shocked Adrian would be with this entire thing.

[Adrian]

Kate looked Adrian dead in the eye with a little flirt, and Adrian shook his head, smirking at her. He wasn't going to fall prey to her wiles that easily. Croaker went next, showing surprising flexibility. Swan went, and then Adrian found himself spinning again. Right foot blue. He furrowed his brow a moment, stepping down over in a spot uncomfortably close to Croaker.

"Just don't headbutt me," he said to the bodyguard, and waited for Murgen to make his move as well. Adrian grinned back over at Kate, raising his eyebrows as he did so.

"I'm comin' for you next, Kate," he said, laughing. "This is aggressive twister!"

[Kate]

Aggressive Twister? Who would have thought such a thing. The boys continued to spin, and Kate did as well. The thing? She somehow always made her spot, even if her leg seemed to be at a very weird angle. None of the bodyguards gave a second look at it, they knew that Kate had a Qi that let her do rather interesting things with her body. She was smiling the entire time as well, even if a normal person's body would break at those angles.

Croaker was the first to fall, and he took Murgen with him. That left Captain, Swan, Adrian and Kate herself. Two gone, three more to go. Kate spun a left hand green, her Qi kicking in so she could twist her arm at a really ugly angle... right under Adrian's nose to place her hand on the green spot.

[Adrian]

Croaker and Murgen hit the deck, and Adrian wasn't too surprised, considering their size. Even if Croaker did have some skills for such a big bad dude, Adrian had figured it was only a matter of time. Murgen was just an unfortunate by-product, but that left precious few people to have to compete against, chiefly amongst them the only female, Kate.

Who, it must be said, was doing almost unnaturally good.

Adrian was faring alright, he supposed. Twister had never been his game of choice, he was usually far too rigid a person to loosen up in the way it required to master this game. As it were, he was holding a rather uncomfortable position, one hand between and behind both legs, the other hand somewhere in front. Personally, though, Adrian felt worse for Swan, stuck in a spot where Adrian's butt was all too close for comfort. It was Kate's turn, she spun an impossible combination, but still managed to get there, with seemingly no issue whatsoever. To add insult to injury, she was doing so right in Adrian's face.

"Hey, that's MY green spot," Adrian said, trying to pretend to sound territorial. He spun, and got right foot blue. "But if you wanna play it that way...."

Adrian stretched out his left foot, and with just enough room in his stride to spare, managed to get his foot in a spot that was just between Kate's legs. He was trembling a bit, though, struggling to hold the position. He hoped he would at least be able to get Kate to fall before he did. The way she was playing though, he was suddenly unsure of himself.

[Kate]

"Darling, Twister is my game."

All the boys were shaking. Kate's emerald eyes looked at one boy, then the next, then the last. Darting between all three. Captain, Swan, and Adrian. She was almost giggling, looking at the faces they were making. Kate noticed Swan's face, thinking he was about to give up on the pure fact he was so close to Adrian's ass. Kate bit down on her lip, and moved her right leg to a red spot.

SNAP!!!

And that was her leg. It was bent and twisted at a weird angle, and from the noise many would think it dislocated or broken. Except her boys weren't fazed, and Kate didn't scream out in pain or anything. She just smiled sweetly at Adrian and waited for him to take his next turn.

[Adrian]

Adrian heard the snap, and freaked, spazzing out a bit, but holding his balance, albeit just barely. Swan, however, wasn't so lucky. The spaz-out Adrian had accidentally caused him to to push his butt even closer to Swan's face, breaking even the stalwart bodyguard's composure and causing him to fall backwards to avoid getting ass-faced. Adrian turned back to see him, trying not to smirk.

However, his mind turned back to Kate, who was assuming a position so awkward and impossible it defied all powers of the wealthy youngster's logic. He cocked his head to the side, and spun again, getting left hand green, and snaking his hand over to the easiest green he could get. After seeing Kate in action, his idea of trying to get her out had been quickly pushed to the side.

"Okay, so how in the hell are you doing THAT, Kate?!" Adrian said, nodding towards her arm that was fully inverted and bent backwards past the elbow's usual range of movement to rest on a blue dot. "I mean, that's just weird!"

[Kate]

Down to just three then. Kate was going to win this, hands down easy. As if to answer Adrian's question, the blonde twisted all her limbs a bit more where she was, and cocked her head at a weird angle to look at him. There were a couple of snaps that sounded bad, but she was still smiling.

"I'm cursed of course!"

All the boys started chuckling, Captain most of all. He lost his footing and fell to the ground. Why? It had been a joke the other night, after watching The Ring together. They had pointed out the similarities between Kate's Qi and the odd black haired "evil child".

"It's my Qi Adrian. I can sort of... bend further than a regular person."

[Adrian]

The way she turned to look at him nearly caused him to fall over as well.

"Uh, holy shit," Adrian said in all sincerity. "Kate, I love you, but that's severely fucked up."

Wait, what did he just say?!

Adrian realized what he said, and bit his lip and spun the spinner quickly. The funny thing was, when he said it, he hadn't necessarily meant it in that sort of 'I wanna be with you forever baby' way, but more as a way to punctuate how weird he thought the Qi was. Even so, they were strong words, and he felt weird saying them even in a joking way.

Left foot yellow. There's no way.

There wasn't a yellow anywhere nearby. Adrian wished he had Kate's freaky power all of the sudden. He hopped off of his left foot, kind of half-jumping in a weird crouch, since his other leg and hands were to remained touched down, and stretched out just enough to find a yellow dot. This was almost certainly his last move. Adrian had impressed himself thus far, but he wouldn't beat Kate. Not with THAT power, he wouldn't, for sure.

"Hmph, so I guess the upper-class DO have superpowers after all," he muttered, somewhat under his breath, but still loudly enough so that Kate would be able to hear. Whether or not she would comment, however, was different business altogether.

[Kate]

No Kate didn't comment on that. She didn't comment on anything. Not the sudden pitter patter of the heart, the sudden swell, and the moment it jumped in her throat. Why was her heart acting so? Because of his words. Because of how he reacted. He said he loved her... but didn't mean it in the way she suddenly wanted him too. WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH HER? That should have been a good thing. And of course the fact he found it freaky... weird... which meant she was freaky and weird to him now.

Kate kept that smile on her lips, it never faltered. She returned her head to normal so she wasn't facing him. The boys were spinning now, so they didn't have to move to do so.

"Right hand green."

Her right hand was on yellow, she moved it to green easily, but didn't make anything snap or weirdly move out of place. The female just wanted this game to be over with now. She was even considering just giving up... except he would know that. And he would wonder why. So she had to keep up the act.

[Adrian]

Thankfully, Kate said nothing. Adrian wouldn't mention it either. Maybe she'd realize the intention of his saying it and not mistake him for being some sort of weirdo that came on way too strong. However, after the ordeal from only about an hour earlier still resonating through his head, he doubted that was the case. Either way, things were good, Kate was happy, the bodyguards were having a good time, and Adrian knew he had nothing to worry about.

Except winning this damn game of twister.

"Right hand green. Huh," Adrian said, seeing he had the same positioning as Kate just did. And the only green spot was currently being taken by her. Oh well, Adrian hoped she could share.

He shifted his weight over and slid his hand over to the green spot, his hand going over top of hers, feeling the warmth of her hand in his. He looked up at her, his blue eyes meeting her emerald ones, and he couldn't help but smile. However, as he was smiling, he felt his awkward leg positioningin finally give out, and he fell, pitching forward into Kate, most likely taking her down as well.

The two would crumble in a mess of arms and legs, falling bodily down onto the mat. Adrian would be laughing the whole way, until he could catch his breath one more time.

"... I think I won that."

[Kate]

His hand over lapped hers... and it made her heart hurt. She just kept smiling, pretending to have a good time. So when he pitched forward, and they tangled, she laughed. And as soon as possible began to untangle herself from him. Removing her limbs from his quickly, and trying to snap things back into place quietly. The boys were putting their suits and sunglasses back on.

Soon Kate was standing, smiling sweetly at Adrian whether he was on the ground or standing. At least before she moved, placing herself in between two of the boys, into safety.

"Of course you did Adrian. Believe what you want."

She wasn't really putting up much of a fight, was she? The blonde was helping Swan retie his tie. The brown haired guy always had problems with that. Her slender fingers fingers flew through the knot, and smoothed his red tie down with the rest of his shirt in a few deft movements. But she wasn't looking at Adrian.

[Adrian]

"In that case, I choose to give my victory to Swan here, for having to remain that close my ass without cracking for so long. You're a real trooper; I wouldn't be able to do that on my best day."

Adrian laughed, until he realized how awkward the situation was. Kate was walking around helping the boys get dressed. He, on the other hand, would do no such thing. He didn't know them that well, and plus, that would just be weird. So Adrian kinda hovered around, letting them tend to their own devices. Something about the way Kate had acquiesced defeat didn't sit well with Adrian, even though there seemed to be no odd or hard feelings associated with her tone of voice. He couldn't say he knew Kate too especially well, but by this point, he thought he could figure at least her stubbornness into play.

He maneuvered behind her, in view of Swan, where she could not see. In subtle gestures, Adrian made a tiny shrug, pointing with both fingers at the girl's back, raising both eyebrows in question, attempting to silently as the man if there was something going on that perhaps he, as a bodyguard and thus closer to the girl than Adrian was, if something was going on that he was unaware of.

[Kate]

Even if Adrian gave the win to Swan, he wasn't getting information from the bodyguard. They always put Kate McHallin first, as that was who signed their paychecks. In moments like these, they knew better than to piss her off. So Swan just acted like he didn't see Adrian's look. Kate finished fixing Swan's shirt and stepped back. Kate didn't realize that Adrian was behind her, so she backed into him.

Those emerald eyes looked up Adrian. There was a twist of sadness in those orbs, but she was trying very hard to remain normal. Normal, normal, normal. It was so hard. The normal Kate smiled up at him, and snuggled into Adrian. Those emerald eyes tried hard to dance.

"Why hello there handsome."

A tease, half hearted at that.

[Adrian]

Adrian could tell Swan was ignoring him, and while, in some ways, the boy could understand, he still wasn't happy about it. The blond youngster frowned, cocking his head disapprovingly at the bodyguard. It was at that point Kate backed into the boy.

Adrian's arms came out to grab and steady her, but, seeing as Kate was fully capable of taking care of herself, she turned around before he could, and Adrian ended up taking hold of her as they became face-to-face, his arms gripping hers lightly, but firmly. She spoke, and he thought he could feel a trace of something less than mirth in her voice. His eyes met hers, and he shook his head.

"You should watch where you're going, love. You might run over a poor boy one of these days."

Adrian smiled, and, still feeling something was wrong, did the only thing he could think of. He pulled Kate in closer, wrapping his arms around her in a warm embrace. He'd hold her there for a moment if allowed, his head resting upon the top of hers, just soaking in the moment. He could tell something new had come up, but Adrian, being a boy and not being all that bright at the end of the day, had no clue what.

[Kate]

He was confusing. Boys were confusing as hell. Kate didn't think she wanted to figure them out. Didn't want to try to figure it out. Kate merely gave up being upset. She smiled, and chuckled under her breath. The girl hugged him back, as the bodyguards suddenly looked away, and began to wander the area. They were really good about making sure their eyes didn't see certain moments pertaining their mistress.

She snuggled into his arms, pressing her face into his chest and closed her eyes. Fuck being confused. Kate would stay here for the moment and damn well enjoy it. The girl loved this feeling. Even if she was stronger than him. Even if she wasn't really AS safe in his arms as she'd wish. But it was nice to be there all the same.

"Well, I'm not sure I want to be careful if it always ends this way."
