"And if you want to know when you were a lady, it started back, oh, I'd say from the look of you, seventeen to eighteen years ago. The way I see it, being a lady isn't a state of being, it's simply a fact. It's not necessarily true for men, though. Hence, there are 'men', and there are 'gentlemen.'"
Elmira nodded as Adrian talked. She was a bit surprised by his somewhat formal speech. Well, perhaps formal wasn't the right word for it. He had a higher level of verbiage and diction that she was not quite accustomed to, and she was not sure if she should feel dumber for not being used to such interesting utilization of a grand sentence structure, or smarter because she was being included in this conversation.
"If you don't mind my asking, was there any particular reason for the party? Not that one's ever really needed, mind you,"
Now this was something to which she could easily respond. "I see a lot of 'end-of-the-summer' type of parties," she began, "But you don't really see many for starting school again. I mean, most people don't like school and it doesn't seem like there's something to celebrate, but I think it's cool to show you can still have fun sometimes, and I thought it would be a good way for me to get to know people, and for people to get to know me. It's more important for social things like this to happen in the beginning rather than the end, so we can start making friends and stuff sooner rather than later."
(( OOC: Party thread ish here. ))
