Party Time! [Open]

[Mathew Amtrum]

He was surprised that she had agreed to paying him one thousand dollars without so much as blinking. Mathew kept his shock to himself, but it was a crazy amount for what Mathew was going to be doing. But it was interesting, this whole encounter had been interesting. She wouldn't be to hard to manipulate.

"I will arrange for her to be at the party. Don't worry she won't start trouble. Linda is actually a very nice person. After all, would I hang out with anyone less then nice?" He asked giving her a smile and a wink. Mathew was indeed flirting with her. He didn't mind tall girls, and she was cute, even if she had a bit of a flat chest. But having a nice ass made up for that. Plus Mathew did have a habit on hitting on most girls. He was a bit of a player, known for having a few girls at one time. Though he was always upfront about that, never lying to any girl about being the only one. He didn't believe in doing that. He liked people to know what they were getting in to.

"What time do you want people to start showing up?" He asked shaking his head at Adrian, he didn't want any gum. Putting his arm around Adrian playing up the buddy buddy thing he would look at Adrian flashing him a cocky grin that warned him that he would do worse if the he acted out again.

"Well I am sorry I hurt you Adrian. I will try to remember how delicate you are." He said taking another shot at Adrian's pride.

[Adrian]

"Oh, you kidder," Adrian replied, giving Mathew a friendly jab in the ribs with his elbow. Of course, at this point, Adrian would have given him a very hard, painful jab in the ribs if he felt it would have done anything. "You wish you could hurt me like that again."

It was a challenge, but Adrian, at the moment, hoped Amtrum wouldn't take it that way. The last thing he needed was Mathew attempting to exert his dominance again, especially in the face of what was going on.

I mean, come on, she could have been interested!

It was true, Adrian thought much the same about the girl as Mathew did. She was pretty cute, he would admit, and although he enjoyed the company of women, Adrian tended to be a bit more gentlemenly about it than Mathew did.

"You're always welcome for a stick of gum from me, Elmira," Adrian mentioned as he put the pack away. "It's a rare time I don't have some on me." He smiled at her, giving her his hard-to-resist million-dollar smile. "As far as the party goes, I can personally tell you that I would be honored to attend. Also, if there are any services you want or need for it, please let me know, I can assure you, if I cannot get them for you, I know someone who can."

[Elmira Medina]

Elmira blinked quietly. Her brain didn't always work as fast as her mouth. Okay, they are totally flirting, she thought. It could still be a joke, of course, or some kind of ploy to make such-and-such other girl that they actually liked jealous, but it was a bit odd. She was not a total stranger to being hit on, though. As a frequent partier, she had her share of males and females alike drunkenly complimenting her. But then again, she had seen males and females alike drunkenly complimenting trees.

It was certainly at odd switch for Mathew, as he had seemed so hostile and intimidating before, and now he had smiled and winked at her. Adrian, on the other hand, had seemed friendly from the beginning, so his behavior was not quite as suspicious.

"What time do you want people to start showing up?"

"I'd like to ask people to start showing up around eight," she responded slowly. "But I know how there will probably be a lot showing up late. I ask people to come earlier than I actually expect them to be there."

"As far as the party goes, I can personally tell you that I would be honored to attend. Also, if there are any services you want or need for it, please let me know, I can assure you, if I cannot get them for you, I know someone who can."

"Um... well, the only thing else that I might need help with is getting the stuff together. Like, carrying the drinks and food from my house onto beach. I mean, I don't want the guests to have to be lugging around stuff for me, and I can easily just make a few trips to get everything, but it would save time just to get a couple of people to carry whatever all at once."

[Mathew Amtrum]

"Consider it done then." He said with a grin, partly to flirt, mostly at the thought of getting a thousand dollars for almost nothing. Given he didn't need the money, but there was nothing wrong with easy money. Patting Adrian on the back, a little harder then needed, but he was a tough boy, he would look at both of the other students he was talking to.

"Well looks like I got a job to do. I will see you both around." He said still grinning. Giving a nod to the girl he would make his exit, that is unless either of them tried to stop him for any reason. His mind already working on a list of people that he was going to invite to the party. That, or threaten, it didn't matter to him as long as they showed up and he got paid.

[Adrian]

Adrian nodded in understanding as the girl explained the only thing she really needed for the party. He smiled a little as she finished, and held up a finger in pause. He didn't press it to her lips like Mathew did, his was a much more polite gesture.

"Say no more, love."

With his other hand, Adrian reached into his pocket and pulled out his rather excessively fancy cell phone and flipped through his phone book. Coming to the number he needed, he pressed the dial key and put the phone to his ear. A few moments passed, then someone answered.

"Yes, hello, I need you to put fifteen of your top men on retainer for me until my specification. They are not to go anywhere or do anything until I need them. ....excuse me? My name. Hanlon. Adrian Hanlon. ...that's right, I expected as much. We both know cooperation will get us both so much farther. ....no, no, there's nothing you can charge me for this I can't match, and you know this. ....yes, that's quite fine. Four hundred thousand it is. ...how long? A moment."

Adrian lowered the phone, covering the receiver with his hand as he regarded Elmira. "When will the party be, again?"

[Elmira Medina]

"Well looks like I got a job to do. I will see you both around."

Elmira waved with exaggerated motions. "See you on Friday!" she shouted after him.

"Yes, hello, I need you to put fifteen of your top men on retainer for me until my specification. They are not to go anywhere or do anything until I need them. ....excuse me? My name. Hanlon. Adrian Hanlon. ...that's right, I expected as much. We both know cooperation will get us both so much farther. ....no, no, there's nothing you can charge me for this I can't match, and you know this. ....yes, that's quite fine. Four hundred thousand it is. ...how long? A moment."

A look of sheer surprise swam over Elmira's face. That was the third time within the beginning of her flier posting session. She wasn't used to being so overwhelmed with shock.

"When will the party be, again?"

"Uh... eight. Eight at night, on Friday. This Friday." She let slips of her hair glide between her fingers, staring at the strands as they shined golden in the light, as if she was suddenly fascinated with her own tresses. Her father could probably have done the same thing- arranging for a bunch of hired people to come just to help out at the party. He had the power and wealth to make such arrangements. But of course, Elmira was not about to tell her daddy that his high school alcoholic daughter needed help with large amounts of booze to supply to the underage student population at a wild drinking party.

[Adrian]

After hearing the information, Adrian nodded and smiled good-naturedly before returning his attention to his phone.

"Yes, Friday, Seven-thirty. Your payment will be sent to you via MasterCard on the afternoon of. No, not a moment before. I wouldn't give me any of that, you know who my father is. Yes, yes I did go there, and don't think I'm bluffing. Alright, good. Trust me, you'll receive payment in full. Yes, thank you very much. Goodbye."

Adrian hit the button to end the call, and slid the phone back into his pocket. His eyes met Elmira's again, and he performed a little mock-bow to her. As his upper body lowered, he looked up, grinning a bit up at her before returning to a standing position.

"See? Taken care of, easy as pie. I'm looking forward to the party."

Elmira grinned. "That's good. Me, too. It seems like you'd be a better host than me." She laughed lightly, though the comment wasn't particularly funny. "But I guess you have lots of connections and such. All I need now is somebody willing to take care of music. I'm not going to hire a professional DJ or anything; just somebody who can switch in CDs that are decent for dancing or even just background music."

She softly bit her bottom lip. She could probably do that herself, since she had a fair idea of how a CD player worked, or even better, she could make some kind of mix in a playlist and have it shuffle from her iPod. Yet somehow she saw herself messing things up, especially after one too many drinks. "What kind of music do you like?"

[Adrian]

Adrian tilted his head somewhat as she said he'd make a better party host than she would. He didn't know if that was true or not. Sure, he had a flair for the dramatic, but people annoyed him enough to the point where he probably wouldn't make a good host, after all. She explained the only thing she needed otherwise, which, once again, twisted Adrian's gentleman nerve, making him want to hire the best DJ San Francisco had to offer for the party. He restrained himself, however, somewhat worried about unintentionally looking like he was trying to show her up with his money and connections. Instead, an idea came to him, but first, she posed a question to him.

What music did he like? Hmm.

"Well, first and foremost, I listen to a lot of classic rock. AC/DC, Bowie, even the Beatles sometimes. Y'know, things of that nature. Other than that peasant rap music, however, there isn't a whole lot I won't at least try once. You know what, though, Elmira?"

Adrian paused, pretending to think a bit, even though his idea had already been formed in his head.

"How about this, we'll come halfway. If you want to find someone who can work a sound system who's willing to play the part of the DJ, I'll get you set up with a sound system and some music as well. How does that sound?"

Elmira's face lit up. "Perfect! I'm sure I can find somebody willing to DJ." It was all coming together. This was half of the fun- having all the pieces fit into place, and imagining how great it would be. Sure, there was bound to be some kind of drama or mishap, but as long as the majority of people attending enjoyed themselves, Elmira included, she would consider the party a success.

"Do you have a way to transport the sound system, or should I come pick it up?"

[Adrian]

At her next question, Adrian, despite his usual gentlemanly manner towards most girls, couldn't help but laugh a little.

"Elmira, I just phoned up fifteen hired servants to help transport drinks and things from your house to the beach. I'm sure I can find some way to transport a few speakers."

He laughed again, endearingly. It was kind of a jab at her, but done in a more friendly, buddy-buddy kind of way. However, as he thought more about transportation, an idea came to his mind.

"In fact," Adrian began, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "I think I have the perfect idea...."

Adrian's eyes lit up in anticipation of his plan, and a grin crossed his face. Note to self: Get in touch with Amtrum about this.

[Elmira Medina]

"Elmira, I just phoned up fifteen hired servants to help transport drinks and things from your house to the beach. I'm sure I can find some way to transport a few speakers."

Yeah, I know, Elmira thought. I just saw. "I don't really want to impose on you. You've already offered up so much. And, uh, not that I was eavesdropping on your phone conversation, but you were right in front of me, and like... fourty grand and all... Plus, Mathew is helping me out because I'm giving him a thousand bucks. You're doing it just for, I don't know. Even if I did pay you, it wouldn't be anything more than what you already decided to spend. There'd be no profit." She glanced up at him.

"Oh? Do tell."

[Adrian]

"Nah uh uh!" Adrian wagged his index finger at her while shaking his head.

"First off, if I didn't want to do what I did, I wouldn't have. Trust me. It's as simple as that. When a lady's in need of assistance, well, I believe it's a man's duty to come to her aid. And as far as my idea..."

Adrian trailed off, a grin crossing his face. "Oh no, you don't get in that easy. It's gonna be a surprise. A big surprise."

As long as everything goes according to plan...

Devoid of anything else to say on the matter, Adrian paused, and shrugged. A mischievous grin stayed plastered on his face, though, at least for the moment. She would have no idea, but would most likely be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

[Elmira Medina]

"First off, if I didn't want to do what I did, I wouldn't have. Trust me. It's as simple as that. When a lady's in need of assistance, well, I believe it's a man's duty to come to her aid."

"Well, I wasn't in NEED of assistance," Elmira explained, trying to assure that she was not completely helpless. Of course, she was used to being spoiled and getting what she wanted, but that was not the impression she wanted to put on people that she recently met, if anyone at all. "I could drag everything myself. But the assistance is certainly useful and time-saving. And since when am I a lady? I'll tell you, as gentlemanly as you've proven yourself to be, I don't think I will match very well by being ladylike in return, or just ladylike in general. It is interesting to see that chivalry isn't dead, though."

"And as far as my idea... Oh no, you don't get in that easy. It's gonna be a surprise. A big surprise."

"A big surprise?" she repeated, lifting her eyebrows in suspicion. "I usually like surprises. Sort of. This might eat away at me until I figure it out, so that's the bad part. The good part comes when I get to discover what the surprise is. Better be a nice one, then, or else I won't approve. Heheh." She gave a teasing threatening glare, with her eyes shooting at him as if she were serious, but the smile cracking along her face and lifting her lips clearly showing she was joking around.

[Adrian]

"Oh, I assure you, Elmira my dear, you will most definitely approve of this one."

Adrian winked at her, grinning all the while.

"And if you want to know when you were a lady, it started back, oh, I'd say from the look of you, seventeen to eighteen years ago. The way I see it, being a lady isn't a state of being, it's simply a fact. It's not necessarily true for men, though. Hence, there are 'men', and there are 'gentlemen.' I do my best to remain the latter, he," Adrian waved his hand in the direction Matthew left towards, "very much stays rooted in the former."

He laughed, shrugging off the differences between the two, when in truth there were very few.

"If you don't mind my asking, was there any particular reason for the party? Not that one's ever really needed, mind you," Adrian would say, flashing his million-dollar smile as he did so.
