"Well, yeah. Definitely. I've already met some pretty odd people, including a Pillar, been knocked on my ass by said Pillar, and been invited to a large party. Its basically the opposite end of the spectrum than what I was used to before. So, yes, more life indeed."

Nick recollected all the things that had happened to him in the past few days. This school was a wild jungle, but he liked it nonetheless.

"Everyone here so far seems rather nice, I'm not sure if its just a facade they put on though. Anyways, what about you? Is this school different that the others you came from?"

[Kate]

Kate grinned, so evilly. Full lips wickedly twisting as she thought about what was different here from everyone else. The blonde didn't even really have to think on why, she knew why.

"I'm friends with the pillars here, I'm stronger, tougher, faster than most of the population. This school is weak and placid compared to the places I've been. Perfect place to stir up... some fun."

There was something about her smile that suggested fun for her, might not be fun for everyone else. Kate was in fact, enjoying her fun at Moral Crest.

"I'm Cheer leading Captain, I have powerful friends, and I'm enjoying life being good to me for once."

Kate never broke eye contact while she grinned in a new way.

"I'm friends with the pillars here, I'm stronger, tougher, faster than most of the population. This school is weak and placid compared to the places I've been. Perfect place to stir up... some fun."

Her smile changed to one of pure evil fun. Nick finally got it. She was dangerously beautiful. Knew people in high places, looked down on the weaker kids in superiority, and liked to get in the middle of things.

"I'm Cheer leading Captain, I have powerful friends, and I'm enjoying life being good to me for once."

Cheer leading Captain. Makes sense.

This was not a girl to piss off or get in the way of, but also the girl to get in good cohorts with.

"Well that's good after all you seem to have been through, you're getting to live life on the top now!"

He smiled a friendly smile at her even though his brain was ticking at a mile a minute about what this girl was really thinking. What she thought of him...

[Kate]

What she thought of him? He was a skinny kid who played drums pretty good, sweated, and had some pretty eyes. That was as far as it went. She just smiled. Kate hadn't said a word about her past, even her friends didn't know everything that had ever happened to her.

"Yes, life is pretty awesome."

She was rich. She was pretty. She was powerful. She was strong... really the list could go on and on and on... but Kate only smiled at him, though the smile softened into what it had been. The pale woman was merely enjoying the moment, wondering what the hell was going through that mind of his. Just what was this kid thinking about?

"Life is pretty awesome. But you should take it one step at a time. Going too fast will leave you too far ahead of everyone else."

Nick was giving advice that wasn't asked for. He found it his duty to try and guide seemingly misguided people, even if they really didn't need his advice or weren't really misguided at all.

Nick thought about his current situation with this girl. She didn't want to flirt, unless this was her way of doing so. She found herself to be superior to all who were weaker than her. She was extraordinarily beautiful, but equally as dangerous. She played the bass. The odds were against him and he really didn't know how to respond to Kate.

"So what makes life so invigorating?" he leaned in and asked in a mocking, sensual tone, "What drives you?"

[Kate]

He leaned in, and NOW Kate KNEW that he was flirting with her. The tone in his voice was a bit mocking, but the blonde could tell. She tilted her head back, silvery blonde locks spilling on the stairs, and laughed. Like really laughed. All the boys around here had to be flirty sons of bitches, didn't they? Every last one of them. She turned back toward him, a new light shining in those emerald eyes. How good on his toes would he be?

"What drives me? One part good song, one part good fuck, and one part good fight. Fun in life mixed with a little bit of vodka and some pom poms. Stir in some faked school spirit sprinkled on top, and you've got a Kate cocktail."

Those emerald orbs were twinkling, dancing around in good humor. Flirting was kind of Kate's thing. She knew what she was doing when it came to that.

"And what exactly drives you?"

Nick was a bit taken aback at her response. It was very forward and very eccentric, but Nick loved it. He had her to where she spilled the beans about herself and he got more than a mouthful. But even if she hadn't opened all the way up like a book to read, he had definitely cracked the spine a little though this outburst.

"And what exactly drives you?"

I guess it's time to fight fire with fire...

"Drive's me!? Not necessarily getting the most out of life, but living the life I do have to its fullest! Banging on instruments, ogling at girls, and fighting for friends and myself! Make it a keg of the finest English liquor, put in a cherry for good measure and a sweet taste, and there you've got yourself a Nicktini!" he bellowed with emotion.

After his monologue, Nick was struck with the same adrenaline that Kate was, and he knew he had hit that flirting sweet spot within her.

[Kate]

He was really trying hard to flirt with her. Like very hard. Kate smirked just slightly. The boys around here really were flirty. Some of them were better at it, like Adrian... but most of them were alright. Nick? He was alright. Not an Adrian... but a decent flirt. Kate just kept on smirking at him, with a slight chuckle under her breath.

"A Nicktini? Well, I'll just make sure to remember that."

He talked about looking at girls. Was that all he did? Oogle them? Was this another virgin. Kate had fixed that in the last virgin boy she had met. James... meeting him at the tattoo parlor and dragging him home for "dinner". Ha. That had been rather fun.

"So what is it you drink then? Whiskey or martinis?"

Nick was in a predicament. A flirting predicament. It wasn't that he was mediocre at flirting, its that he was having a hard time specifically with this girl. Of course, this made him try harder, no matter how much he screwed up. He knew there had to be something in the book that this girl fell for. However, she seemed to be enjoying either his lack of flirting prowess or just him being weird.

"A Nicktini? Well, I'll just make sure to remember that."

Was that a good sign? Hopefully she wants one...

Nick smirked a smirk that said 'I will win at this little game we're having, one way or another'.

"So what is it you drink then? Whiskey or martinis?"[/i]

The real answer was beer, but Nick knew that beer wasn't an option in this case, so he went with the only hard drink he could handle well. Nick recited from memory.

"A dry martini, Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. And you?"

[Kate]

Funny, he didn't seem like a martini sort of guy. She had only asked because of his "Nicktini" joke. He gave her a look, like he was going to sway her and "win" her or something. Kate laughed again. Win against her? Hardly. Nick wasn't about to win against Kate McHallin. She kept on smirking.

"Straight shots of vodka. That's what I love. One shot right after another until it hits you hard and you can stand. Have to get some guy to carry you around."

Kate sat up, putting her elbows on her knees and leaning forward. Her hands cupped her face and she looked at him with those emerald eyes. Studying him.

"But that's only when I go clubbing, and I bring the boys I trust. So I know I'll be carried home safely."

Nick mocked Kate by copying her. He put his elbows on his knees and leaned forward while his hands cupped his face and he looked at her with his sparkling night blue eyes.

"I can't say I've had the pleasure of clubbing. Never really thought about it. I guess until now, that is..."

It was true, Nick had never gone to a night club, but that didn't mean he didn't know how to party. He had been to plenty of those.

[Kate]

Another person who had never gone clubbing. Those sad little people, how dull their lives must be. How silly it must all be. Kate cocked one eyebrow even as he mocked her. Leaning forward like she was and all. Okay, well if he wanted to play that game... she slouched her shoulders and her spine curved. Instead of being a normal teenaged beauty queen, Kate transformed herself into some sort of high fashion model in seconds. Those emerald eyes half open, and staring straight at him. Let's see him pose like a girl!!! If he kept copying her.

"Clubs are fun. People get sweaty, but that's the only down side I can find..." Nevermind the fact that Nick had been sweaty himself just moments ago. "I like to loose myself in a crowd, to get caught up in the beat and forget everything else."

The girl grinned, waiting for his reaction.

She had caught on to the copying game rather quick. She changed into an awkward position, but Nick copied her anyways. It was rather uncomfortable, so he gave up. It was no fun if she knew what he was doing and he had more important things on hand.

"Clubs are fun. People get sweaty, but that's the only down side I can find... I like to loose myself in a crowd, to get caught up in the beat and forget everything else."[/i]

"Really now? That sounds pretty fun, seeing that I basically do that everyday." Nick pointed to his headphones on the floor next to the drums, "If you see me walking about, I usually have something with an intense beat playing. Either some electronica or rock. Maybe you should invite me sometime."

[Kate]

Maybe she should invite him along? Maybe she should. The blonde smiled at him, even as he gave up the mocking game. Nick tried to copy her, but as he quickly found out... the position wasn't exactly comfortable even to her. She relaxed, and returned to how she had been before answering.

"Maybe I should. Or maybe you should hit the clubs and try to find me."

There was another smirk, and an evil twinkle in her eye. The pale girl stood suddenly and began to gather her things. Slipping her jacket on and just flashing him a smirk.

"What do you think about that Nick?"

She flicked blonde hair over her shoulder and waited for a reply.

Nick smirked as well.

"Ha ha, I'd love to play cat and mouse with you. Just tell me where and when, and I'll search for you in a club."

If Kate wanted to play a game, he would play along. He was most intrigued by her interesting personality and he couldn't get enough.

Hm, shes definitely something else... And even after all this time, I still don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing...

Nick got up and went over to his backpack and jacket. He began to put on his hoodie, headphones, and all, seeing that Kate was doing the same.
