"Well, it amuses me. You make a good pirate. But I'll still think of you as a knight in brown leather, if that's ok. My own personal Indiana Jones?" She said, and James grinned at this because she made a possessive statement about him being hers in some form.
"You got it," He said, "I suppose I'll need to get a really cool hat and a whip now. Of course it wouldn't be Indiana Jones without the really pretty girl in the film with him," He said. He blinked once and said, "I bet you couldn't tell, but that was me winking at you."
He smiled and waited to see her reaction, "So you dance? Like ballet and all that? Or like Flashdance and the whole 'she's a maniac, maniac on the floor' type of stuff?"

Sam grinned at his agreement, the butterflies going mad with approval. And then he complimented her, and she grinned even wider, blushing slightly this time. Recovering her composure, she said, "We can look for stuff you you when we explore the city, Dr. Jones." She liked having an inside joke like this. It made her feel closer to him... And she liked that feeling. He blinked at her and she tilted her head, confused for a moment before he gave his explanation, and she smiled once more. "Ah, I see. I'll remember that for next time."
"Flashdance?" She giggled. "I've done some. 80's jazz is pretty intense stuff. But I gotta say that my heart lies with the theatre three - ballet, jazz, and tap. I'm best at ballet, but tap dancing's my favorite. And jazz is just amazingly fun." Her eyes lit up, warming to one of her favorite subjects. "I've even done some couples dancing - you know, ballroom stuff. Tango, salsa, waltz... swing was amazing. I thought my partner was gonna end up throwing me across the room, but that was half the fun of it."
Ok, Sam, stop talking... NOW. How much does he really care about ballroom dancing?
"Sorry," she said, wincing at him. "I tend to go on and on about this stuff." She tried to bring the conversation back to him. "Have you ever taken any dance classes?" And then the mental freakout began.
Wait, can you dance with one eye? Your balance might be a little... No, of course he could, it's not like he lost a limb... God, that was a dumb thing to say. Oh, crap, what if he gets insulted...!? Oh no, oh no, please don't hate me...!

I think I like Dr. Jones.... that's probably the first nick name I've had in years that didn't involve my eye patch in any way.....
"Have you ever taken any dance classes?" She asked, and he thought about his dancing abilities. He couldn't say that he could dance or that he had taken classes. He didn't know how good he was, mostly because he hadn't exactly tried to dance. Not the type of dancing she was talking about anyway. Sure he had danced during the happy times of his life, like getting a cute girls phone number -- and here's where he remembered Sam giving him her phone number -- and the time he ran into that cute girl in the cafeteria -- and here's where he remembered literally five minutes or so ago -- and then there was that time he got a nick name not involving his eye patch -- and here's where he remembered a few seconds ago --.
"Can't say that I have, I've been known to cut a rug in my day, but that was only because I was installing it and putting it into the room." He held back laughter, not because of this, but because another joke about him being one-eyed came to mind. So he held it in for a second and said, "But maybe you could teach me sometime, but if it turns out I have two left and I accidentally step on you I'll probably feel really bad about it so... maybe I should dance with someone who's toes I don't want to see get stepped on, unless of course you want to borrow a pair of steel toed boots. Sure they'd look funny to dance in but hey, less toe-crunchy goodness."
And now it was James turn to tell himself to shut up before rambling on, "But seriously, the dancing thing, it's awesome, it really is. It sounds like a lot of fun, and it's interesting. You're interesting, so you don't have to worry about going on and on, because I like listening on and on."
His hand would instinctively reach out to touch hers. And inside of his head he wanted to scream at himself for doing it, it just sort of happened as if his hands had a mind of their own.

Sam shook her head, giggling at James' play on words concerning "cutting the rug." Corny joke was corny. But it was still ridiculously cute.
"I'd love to teach you," she responded. "I'd like to dance with a partner again. And don't worry about toe crunching. In ballet, most of the work I do is en pointe. There's nothing you can do to make my toes hurt more, or look worse than they already do." Working en pointe did not make for pretty toes, that's for sure. "Besides, it might be hard for me to move in big heavy shoes like that, and then I'd end up stepping on your toes, and then I'd feel bad."
Sam smiled in embarrassed relief as he continued. He thinks I'm interesting? That made her warm inside. She felt his hand touch hers lightly and, not expecting it, she jerked a little in surprise. In... very pleasant surprise.
Before he could entertain any possibility that she'd jumped for any kind of negative reason, she twisted her hand upward so their palms were touching, and reach for his other hand, too. She realized that the cute and witty reply she was hoping would find it's way out of her mouth wasn't coming.
Dammit...
All she could do was hope that what DID come out of her mouth wasn't too lame.
"Well, thank you, Dr. Jones. I'm glad I don't bore you." She said softly, giving him a small, private smile.

When she withdrew, he wasn't sure what to do, in that split moment before she put her hand back. He started to panic, but as his heart pace quickened her hand was now in his, and her other hand reached out for his too. His face had a look of shock as he looked up at her. He wasn't sure how to react. But he knew that his heart was quickening still. Each pound felt like a giant weight was being bench pressed in his chest. Each beat hitting harder then the last, his face reddened rather quickly.
"Well, thank you, Dr. Jones. I'm glad I don't bore you." She said, smiling at him. He leaned in to whisper into her ear. Mostly because he was too embarrassed and shy to say anything very loud in this exact moment.
"You don't, in fact... I find every last inch of you interesting and exciting...." He'd pull back, staring into her eyes. As much as one could with one eye. It just went back and forth between them. And then there was that stupid gene, the one in him that told him to do things, and he fantasized doing them. He fantasized being the hero, being the main character of this action romance story. But he never did any of those things, not till now anyway.
Not until he leaned forward in an attempt to give Sam the kiss of a lifetime. His hands abandoning hers and instead reaching up for the sides of her neck, fingers extending towards the back of her head. He went in right, wondering if this was really happening, or if it was all in his head. But the truth of the matter is he wasn't imagining this, he really was going for it.

James leaned close to whisper in her ear, and though she vaguely registered it as a wonderful compliment, the only thing that was registering in her brain at that moment was James’ lips close to her ear, his hands in hers, her heart trying to beat itself out of her very chest. She wanted to kiss him, just reach for him and put her lips on his, but her nerves were crippling, and she couldn’t move a muscle.
Luckily, for her, though, she didn’t have to. His fingers left hers and gently found their way to her neck, and, not knowing what else to do with her hands, she covered his with hers. He leaned forward, and the butterflies raged in her stomach as he got closer and closer. And then their lips met, and Sam lost any kind of coherent thought she thought she had. It took her a few seconds to realize that this was no daydream; this was honest-to-goodness real life. Her hands slid down his arms and around his neck, pulling him closer. This felt good. She knew it was strange, seeing as they’d met so recently, but she couldn’t help it. It felt right. She could sense honesty in his kiss, and accepted it as she passionately returned it in kind.
Man, he’s a good kisser…
When they finally broke apart, Sam had to take a moment to get her breath back. The kiss had seemed to go on forever and for an instant, and she needed time to return to reality. She felt her face. Warm, as she expected. I’m probably bright pink, she thought.
“Wow…” was all she could whisper.

The kiss was amazing, and it felt right. The sheer fact that she seemed to be kissing back, her hands pulling him in more made his spine shiver. When it was over, it felt like everything was happening too quickly. While the kiss went on it felt slow motion. When the kiss was over, it felt like it all took place in a nanosecond. Like the time their kiss took suddenly ceased to exist. “Wow…”
"I'm going to have to agree.... wow...." He said, nodding. As he did his eye caught the clock and he realized he was late for class, "Ahh geez you gotta be kidding me......"
He looked back down towards her, "I've got class, but I just want to say, best lunch ever." He said, getting up and starting to walk off he suddenly turned around and walked back to her, pulling her in for one more kiss like the one they just had, this one he would make last a little longer though if he could. Afterwards he would break away and say, "I'll see you later tonight... I'll call you and we'll go do stuff, fun stuff, with each other.... in town. And once my brain function comes back to me, I've got to head to class... but I'll see you, and I'll be thinking about kissing you until we do again....."
James would back away nervously, not looking where he was going, but for once in his life not tripping over someone or something. He'd turn and walk away after raising a hand up to say goodbye. He'd turn and walk away, unable to wipe the smile from his face, he brought his fingers up to his lips, letting out a laugh. He was so happy that just happened he didn't know how to express it other then yelling, "WOOO HOOO!" Throughout the halls.
(OOC: I'll make a thread for their date in a moment and send you a PM with the link.)
