Rem sat in an outdoor cafe, taking a sip of coffee and using his free hand to type on his laptop. He had a right to enjoy a few moments of peace and quiet every once in a while, didn't he? He didn't have the luxury of doing so every day. Still, this little outing wasn't simply for pleasure, but business. He had sent text messages to Andy and Sara, and left a note outside his roommate's door to meet him here. Taking another slow sip of his coffee, Rem awaited their arrival.

Sara was a little surprised when she had gotten the text from Rem. It had simply told her to meet him a cafe that wasn't to far from where she lived. Which was good, as she would have to walk. She wondered what the hell he wanted, because it was kind of sudden. Maybe he just wanted to buy her coffee? Which would be awesome, because she wanted a coffee really bad.
She turned the final corner and quickened her pace so she wouldn't be late. She searched the names of the stores. She had never been to this cafe specifically, so she wasn't completely sure where it was.... There. She walked up to his table and pulled out the chair without even asking and sat down, her gaze on him. There was no smile on her face. She was a little nervous, not really sure what he wanted. "Hey... You texted me?"

"Hey... You texted me?"
Rem gave her a warm smile and gestured to a basket of warm, crunchy croissants he'd just ordered.
"Yes, I did. I was out here all on my lonesome and I decided that it would be nice to have a pretty, female companion here with me. Have some. They're great."

Sara looked to the basket he had gestured at, slowly reaching out for one. She was starved, that had been nice of him.
"Yes, I did. I was out here all on my lonesome and I decided that it would be nice to have a pretty, female companion here with me. Have some. They're great."
She paused, her gaze falling to his face, searching it for his meaning. She let out a laugh, grabbing a croissant and leaning back in her chair, more relaxed. Cute~Very funny~But he didn't seem like that kind of guy.
Still chuckling, she tore a piece of the croissant. "What's the real reason you called me here for?"

"What's the real reason you called me here for?"
Straight to the point, as she purloined a croissant. Rem arched an eyebrow, wondering whether his little quip had had any effect on her. Didn't seem that way. He pushed it out of his mind in place of more relevant things.
"I just told you what for."
He rest the cup o' joe down and entwined his fingers.
"That...among other things..."

She smiled at him, popping pieces of croissant into her mouth. Really, he should know better then to dance around the bush with her. She lost interest in things real fast, and the best way to get her attention was to just spit it out. But if that was the way he wanted to play, she could play that game to.
"I just told you what for...That...among other things..."
~So there was another reason~ She knew there had to be, she wasn't the greatest company to keep, so there had to have been something else. As to what...? She wondered how long he was going to keep this up. It didn't matter though, she had no problem indulging him.
She reached over for another croissant but decided against it, instead stealing his coffee. She watched him closely to see what he would do. If he let her take it, she would add another sugar and lean back in her seat sipping it. If he fought back...? Well there might be some problems... In a way, this was a test, a chance to see how badly he wanted her to stay. If it was important he would want her to stay.
"So then... What other things...?"

James finished up at his job for the day, he was exhausted from it, but felt kind of proud. James may not be a fighter, but he could dry wall you into the next century. He got home to his shoddy apartment. He recently had a new room mate who he thought would be home, "Hey Re-" He started to say and stopped when he found a note on the door, "Huh, guess I could always use a good cup of coffee. Or cocoa, cocoa sounds good... or tea. Nah tea's too British."
James showered and got changed into his casual clothes, a black Weezer shirt with a red long sleeve button up over it, left unbuttoned so that the band name was visible. He wore a simple pair of jeans and a blue pair of chucks. He then made his way to the meeting place. He didn't have a vehicle himself, but he liked to bus it around, so that's what he did.
James walked up towards the place to see Sara and Rem. He didn't know that those two knew each other, but he hoped that this would be the first meeting between him and Sara that didn't involve physical pain, "Hey guys," He said, grabbing a seat and joining in. "What's going on?"
Please don't hit me, please don't hit me, pleeeease let my noggin go un-hit today!

"So then... What other things...?"
Rem's eyes followed her every movement, from the time she took his cup to the time she took a sip of it. With an unperturbed smile on his face he would stare at her until she finished the cup, before even considering saying something.
"That...just now, was quite rude, Ms. Quinn"
His voice held no malice, not even the slightest bit of annoyance. She was about to learn her lesson regardless.
"I'vehad that cup for quite a while. I've been drinking and regurgitating into it. I never did like coffee..."
He'd simply watch whichever reaction to this she would have and give her his usual serene smile. He would answer her question in just a bit.
"Hey guys. What's going on?"
Ah. The second piece of the puzzle had arrived. Rem gave his roommate a courteous nod of acknowledgment.
"Nothing much...but I'd grab something to shield yourself with if I were you..."

She sipped, her first sip looking for anything... not quite right. It seemed ok. Wasn't the greatest coffee, but it seemed alright. He was watching her though. Quite hard as well. She was fighting the urge to blush and look away. She still wasn't so good at holding and maintaining eye contact. Finally, she finished the cup and set it slowly down.
"That...just now, was quite rude, Ms. Quinn...I've had that cup for quite a while. I've been drinking and regurgitating into it. I never did like coffee..."
She froze, her eyes on his face as he smiled at her. Such a pretty little innocent smile. A moments pause, and then:
"Hey guys. What's going on?"
Her face hardened. That was a sick joke. She hated jokes like that. Unless it wasn't a joke and he actually like drinking regurgitated coffee... But that was just... sick. Now. She had two options here. She could let the joke slide, or she could get up and walk away. Her anger was winning. And she knew just the outlet.
Without turning her head, she spoke, her voice hard. "Hi James." And then she whipped the cup at James letting out a grunt of frustration. And then she burst into laughter. She held her stomach as the laughs shook her body. She felt better now. Ah... Good old James, he always made her feel better~

"Nothing much...but I'd grab something to shield yourself with if I were you..." Rem said.
"Oh god what in the world did I do now-"
"Hi James." Sara said and threw a cup at him, it hit him on the nose, startling him and causing him to fall back in his chair, the cup bounced off his nose and turned upside down, the contents of it spilling on James chest, mostly on his over shirt. The back of the chair hit ground and the cup came down on his nose a second time, it wasn't painful so much as humiliating, but the fact that his nose was sore from being broken still, with a bandage on it and everything, added to it all.
"You know," He said, "I really hate my life sometimes...."
He pushed his hands against the ground pushing him and his chair upright, and once he did he looked at Sara, "It's nice to see we're keeping up tradition," He said somewhat sarcastically. And then turned towards Rem, out of breath from being startled like that, "So, what did you want me and Sara for?"

Bzzzt
Andy had been scrubbing the porch with warm water and soap when he heard Mrs. Shura exit the house through the porch door. Looking up, he noticed she was smiling, as usual, and carrying a glass of water. He felt his cell phone buzz inside his right pocket, however he couldn't check it now, with his hands being wet.
"It's a nice day outside Andrew, you should take a walk or go to the park."
That did sound like a good idea. And with that, he thanked Mrs. Shura for the advice and finished up his cleaning. Clearing the buckets and washing his hands, he headed upstairs to his room as he checked his cell. Oh- a message from...Rem? Rem...wasn't it that guy he had met a short while ago? And now the older student was inviting him for some coffee. That was nice of him... So, Andy decided to "take a walk" and began to change his clothes. His cough was gone and his body's aches were gone by now. The weather was promising, however he wouldn't risk his life on catching another cough so soon, so he pulled a cloak on, grabbed some money and headed outside. On his way out the front door, he decided to tell his caretaker about his time management.
"I'll be back later Mrs. Shura!"
He headed to the place where Rem had invited him. However, he was unfamiliar with the area and began to wander. Logically, the streets would be named in alphabetical order and be easy to find.
He soon found Rem, sitting at a table, with two other individuals, one of whom he recognized as Sara. The meeting was quite a surprise, and with the inclusion of so many others, he felt slightly embarrassed. As he approached the table, he saw Sara throw the cup and the unknown student fell over, then pushed himself upright- all with dexterity and skill. By the time he got to the table, his face had a slight red hue to it.
With a wave he took a seat and sat down.
"Thanks for inviting me Rem. Hey Sara, you still seem to be lively and full of unexpected surprises."
He turned to the unknown man. The coffee had spilled all over his shirt and he seemed somewhat miffed. Personally, Andrew disliked wet clothing, mostly because he felt uncomfortable when a breeze or something blew past him and made his shirt feel like a block of ice. "Hey there! Wet shirts can be pretty discomforting. Would you like to borrow my cloak for the time being?"

Rem observed his fellow students for a while, smiling at their amusing interactions. It seemed that they were amiable, for the most part. Sara's misgivings aside, considering they weren't out of malice, but out of hyperactivity. Which was good. They were a bit dysfunctional, but they were good.
"So, what did you want me and Sara for?"
"Thanks for inviting me Rem. Hey Sara, you still seem to be lively and full of unexpected surprises."
"Well, I'm glad everyone is finally here. Thanks for coming. James, this is Andy, Andy this is my roommate and friend, James. I would introduce Sara, but you both seem to know her already."
He waited until they were all seated again before continuing.
"James, and you too, Sara, do you recall me telling you about a certain organization that I would have liked you to be a part of? Militia? Well... it pains me to say... that Militia is in turmoil as of late. Internal strife. Our leader is nowhere to be found, and thus the rest of us high tier members are struggling for leadership. Thus, I rescind my request to join Militia."
He let what he said sink in before continuing.
"I cannot involve new members into the chaos that is the current state of Militia. However... I do still have need of such individuals as yourselves. You too, Andy... I seek your involvement. I've seen you in action. You're not too shabby."
He took a croissant from the basket on the table and brought it to his lips, munching on it idly.
"I want to create a private group. Just the four of us for now. We can add possibly two or three more to our ranks, but that's about it. I do not believe we can maintain order...or secrecy with a huge following."
By now, he had gotten through half of the croissant and gestured for a waitress to bring some more cups of coffee.
"I cannot count on Militia to serve its purpose as a failsafe, in its current state, thus, this private group we're discussing will be the quote/unquote Plan C."
He gazed at the others, observing their body language to gauge their reactions.
Any questions thus far?

Oh man~The cup to James' head had been funny! She felt so much better. Until she looked at Rem. Damn Rem and his sick jokes. Poor James wouldn't have had to have been hurt if he hadn't made that stupid joke. Oh well. It was done with. James pushed himself back up, his shirt now wet with leftover coffee. She snickered again, eying the wet shirt.
"Thanks for inviting me Rem. Hey Sara, you still seem to be lively and full of unexpected surprises."
Sara snapped her head around when Andy arrived. She smiled at him, giving him a little hello, and scooting over to make some room for him. She knew there was something more to this then coffee. But she couldn't seem to think of what he would want with the three of them. It didn't seem to make sense to her. Unless... It had something to do with what he had asked her...? Again, the anger flared inside her, but she held it closely in check, leaning back in her chair, watching the little group, and crossing her arms, waiting for him to get this started.
She let her mind drift until he started the introductions. She pulled herself back and leaned forward, placing her arms on the table. Just from his tone and formal way of speaking, she could tell it was going to be important. When Rem spoke to her, she gave a small "mhm". She didn't know the name of the organization he had spoken of, but she remembered the day in front of the library. Interesting that the group he had spoken of was in trouble though. If it was, what did he want them for?
"Thus, I rescind my request to join Militia."
Ah. He was taking the offer back. Now she understood. But then why were they here? Right now? He must still want something from them, but she couldn't fathom what. She tried to clear her mind, let him finish. She soaked up every word, forcing the anger inside her to remaining neutral. Apparently he wanted them to join a NEW group. Just a small one. She liked that. Small was good. She might be able to live with small... maybe...
And then he lost her. Plan C? What was plan A and B? How did they suddenly jump to C? Had she missed some vital piece of information? Her OCD kicked in. Bad. And what was the plan anyways? God. She hated groups... with the rules... and the... GROUP. She leaned back, trying to keep herself in check. The anger was flaring, but... it seemed like this was leading somewhere. Something to do with the first group... Militia?
Any questions thus far?
She looked between the other two. She wasn't going to ask any questions if they weren't. Her leg began to bounce under the table. Well... She guessed so far it didn't sound to bad. Kind of exciting in a way. Atleast thats what she told herself, trying to calm herself down. She tried to take a positive outlook, sitting up straight and smiling. Her mind was on hyperdrive right now.
"Well~If you guys are up for this, then so am I~"

"No thanks," James said to the other kid, "I don't think it'd quite fit and I don't want to tear something attempting to make it fit." James was a lot larger then this kid, besides he could handle a wet shirt. That was the least of his worries. He just wondered if he could go the rest of the day without Sara hitting him again. Hopefully so, and hopefully Andy wouldn't pick up on Sara's behavior and join in. Didn't seem likely though.
"Well, I'm glad everyone is finally here. Thanks for coming. James, this is Andy, Andy this is my roommate and friend, James. I would introduce Sara, but you both seem to know her already."
"Yeah she gave me this," James said pointing to the bandage over his once broken nose, "Long story short this girl is ticklish, and I'm probably the only one to survive with that knowledge, bwuahahahaha!" He said. Obviously it was a lie, but mostly it was meant as a joke to get a rise out of Sara. He liked making people laugh.
Then Rem went on to talk about how the group was having some problems and issues, and he said a word that James didn't know. It wouldn't be the only time most likely, but James decided he would start carrying around a dictionary when he was around Rem. But he wasn't sure what to make of his idea. It sounded good, but he still didn't know the basics of Militia itself. He wished he had more information on everything, but something told him that it would be a bit troublesome.
"Well~If you guys are up for this, then so am I~"
"I'm all ears if you want to make the failsafe to the failing failsafe, just tell me where to sign and I'm there," He said, in a somewhat more serious tone. There was still a hint of joke, but it was all business, "But what gives? I mean, with Militia. I mean, names and events what happened. I can understand if you don't want to betray privacy of your team mates and such, but this is probably important information we should know if we're going to join this group."

"Well~If you guys are up for this, then so am I~" Rem honestly wasn't surprise that that was Sara's stance on things. He simply nodded at her with his ever present smile.
"I'm all ears if you want to make the failsafe to the failing failsafe, just tell me where to sign and I'm there. But what gives? I mean, with Militia. I mean, names and events what happened. I can understand if you don't want to betray privacy of your team mates and such, but this is probably important information we should know if we're going to join this group."
Rem tilted his head into his roommate's direction.
"Alright. Militia was formed by a guy called 'Unfettered' Winters. 'Unfettered' isn't his real name obviously, but that's beside the point. He is the leader, and beneath him there are three 'generals' for lack of a better term. Those would be Emily Delos Santos, Gabriel Seran and myself. Militia's main purpose... is to clean up and maintain order should the Pillars fall...or mess up. It's other purposes...are classified..."
Rem paused as the waitress returned with their cups of coffee. When she'd left, he continued.
"'Unfettered' is missing, his last wish was for Militia to be disbanded."
He took a deep breath here. His eyes closed and a foul mood suddenly arose within him. He fought it off for now.
"The group is floundering. The thought of disbanding is ludicrous... so now there is internal strife to see which of us three generals will take 'Unfettered's place. So you see... though I loathe to admit it, there are none within Militia I can currently trust. That's where you three come in. Our 'Plan C'"
