Or so said her insurance policy...
To be honest, after her first day, she'd seen a few fights, and all that other crap that went around school. Needless to say, without anyone around, she was rather defenseless...Nicolas wasn't anywhere to be seen, and then again, nor were the rest of the students. Had she become lost? Or was the scythe that she now carried on her back scaring everyone away? In either instance, it was rather eerie.
For the most part, she'd found her way around school, and had a mental map of the entire place laid out. She wasn't able to see the small nooks and crannies yet, but that would come in time. To be entirely honest, Aurora didn't know why exactly she was roaming the dangerous halls of this place...maybe just to see if she could meet new people? Yeah...a little weird, but hey, that was up to the eye of the beholder.
And herself in some minor functions.
Of course, she found someone, or something...she wasn't quite sure...but whatever was here now hadn't been there before. If she hit an object, that was cool, but just in case...better simply apologize.
"Uhm...excuse me, I didn't see you there."
Wasn't that the case. If her Qi had been working, she might have been able to dodge it...oh well. In time Aurora. In time.

Why was the place so... silent? Like a grave really. Almost too creepy for her tastes. It was a Friday, and that meant a ton of kids were skipping. But that wasn't exactly her problem. That problem was on Mathew, Linda, Jester, and Matrim. The pillars were the ones who had to shoulder weird problems like that about the student body. That and fighting. Ha. Kate didn't follow that rule in the slightest.
Someone bumped into her. In the middle of an almost empty hallway, somebody bumped into Kate McHallin. The girl didn't like that very much, but at least she was quick to apologize. Kate opened her mouth to tell the girl off when she noticed something... the person who had run into her was blind. For some odd reason, that made Kate falter... because she had never been around a blind person before. Never had mert one before.
"Er... Well, some people around here would smack you around. Be careful, okay?"

Way to crush the silence Aurora, is was just getting nice...made for getting around much much easier. But now, just simply walking away would be too awkward for her tastes. She had come this far to find someone to talk to, and now she had found her, the only problem was the fact that she was now standing there, head down, like a deer in headlights trying to figure out what to do. The scythe bolted to her back was no help either. Damn it, maybe she shouldn't have brought it.
Okay, maybe she should try...ugh. SO AWKWARD!
"I know, I'm dearly sorry. Could you tell me where I am right now?"
Aurora was just inside an auxilury hallway, nothing real special, but in order to start up some conversation, she had to at least make a first attempt...most veteran students probably wouldn't even think of it...okay...just tell her the truth then, that shouldn't hurt too much.
"Alright...I was looking for people to talk to, I get bored easily. I hope I found one?"

Kate was the cheer leading captain now. And that meant putting the best foot forward and all the jazz right? She was supposed to be happy, cheery, and nice to everyone. It was like the job description. Kate mentally sighed, and didn't bother smiling. This girl couldn't see it anyway, right? Might as well just keep her voice cheery and get it over with. Ugh.
"You're by the inside entrance to the pool actually. And I don't mind talking to you. My name is Kate McHallin, I'm the cheer leading captain."
Introducing herself with the same bit too. She sounded cheery enough, but not enough to sound fake. Kate knew the difference, with all the speeches she had given in her life. You needed the other person. Now was one of those times. At least she didn't need to smile like an idiot or anything.
"Did you need help finding some place?"

Hmmm, well, at least she found someone. It wasn't the big time jackpot that Nicolas was, but hey, this Kate McHallin would do just nicely, and for once, she wouldn't try to pick out a persons thoughts or even get into a huge discussion about the meaning of life or how the world was going to end. This my friends, was cheer leading captain, yet another student with a little bit of power, maybe not as much, but still, after what had happened with Matrim, she didn't need someone else getting angry with her.
"And I'm Aurora Silivasi...Thirteen if you will. It's good to meet you!"
And indeed it was, but for some reason, she wondered how long it was truly going to last. Last time, she'd reverted back to her old state, and damn, it had not gone well.
At all.
Oh well.
"I'm not looking for anything particular, but if theres somewhere I should have a lo..."
She stopped, knowing that she was blind, and couldn't exactly look around, but if Kate had something to say, she would certainly hear it...just not see it. Damn this place and its suppressing Qi! It was really getting old. She could still feel it, but couldn't use it. How sad.

The other female trailed off and Kate raised an eyebrow in question. Of course the girl couldn't see this, and so the blonde mentally cursed herself and almost sighed out loud. And she didn't know what to say in this moment.
Kate just felt a bit awkward.
Really, no it was hard for Kate to even form a question at this point. That was of course when her emerald gaze landed on the weapon strapped to the blind girl's back.
"Why is it you lug that thing around?"
No need to explain what she was talking about. Kate was sure the other girl would know exactly what she was talking about. After all, who wouldn't ask about that? Kate was a decent fighter in her mind, but she had never used a real weapon before. Instead, just her fists, feet, elbows, knees, head, and teeth.
It was an interesting idea to consider.

Wow...awkwardness is awkward. Granted it wasn't really either of their faults, but the damn situation didn't allow for pleasant conversation. Sure, it sucked, but that's just how life went really. Neither of them knew what to say, what to do really. It was just going to be one hell of a long walk.
Of course, that was of course until Kate finally broke the silence, and thank the Gods.
"This old thing?"
Both Kate and Aurora knew exactly about the artifact that Thirteen was carrying on her back...the scythe, handcrafted as a defense weapon. Granted it wasn't always useful, but it helped out when she was alone.
"Sentimental reasons really, this place is dangerous, and I don't always have someone to walk with, so I usually use it as a deterrent. It's worked out well so far I guess. I like using it in practice...but almost never in a fight. The administrators don't take kindly to it."
True that, she always carried it when alone, but even if a fight started, she usually ditched it, ditching also her main advantage in a fight...range. Sad really, but hey, hurting people wasn't Aurora's style.
"I'm not one really for fights...but luckily I've gotten good at avoiding them. I'm sure you've had your fair share of fights."
She was referring to her Qi, which hadn't been working...sad, so sad. Maybe Kate was a break of the stereotype...who knows.

That was an interesting thought. Kate grinned, chuckling under her breath. Because Kate McHallin loved to fight. Really, she had been in a bunch of scuffles since coming to PHS 42. The pale girl replied slowly the other other girl's statement.
"I... have been in a lot of fights. Every time I turn a corner, I seem to be getting in a fight. I rather... love it."
Yeah, that's right. Kate loved it. She had bruises and pains from all her fights with Matrim, and all the others. Only Matrim and that one guy had won against her. Everyone else had fallen before the blonde, defeated easily.
"There are plenty of students who wouldn't care if you had a weapon or not, or will use weapons themselves. So I'd be careful. Unless you can hold onto a weapon, I wouldn't give them a chance to use it on me."
Just a small piece of advise for the girl.

Kate didn't just fail to break the stereotype of fighters, she practically embodied it. She had a few key differences however. The first of, Aurora didn't observe her to be of the criminal kind of fighter, the kind that did so for material gain, or otherwise. Instead, she was the kind, as she said, that loved to fight just for the sake of fighting. Martial techniques, fighting, they were all forms of art, but only if you held a true passion for it. To some, it might be disgusting, but to others, it might be absolutely beautiful.
"Well, I suppose if you love it, then nobody can take that from you. As long as it's fun."
Aurora didn't care for fighting, but she could appreciate it in all its various forms. She just happened to prefer an extension of her arm, and a connection to her roots farming in Indonesia.
"Sounds like what I've heard in various forms already. I'll keep it in mind."
Everyone was giving her advise, thinking her small and rather weak...which was wrong. She had plenty of skill in her craft, she knew these things already. All she needed now was her power back, and everything would fall nicely into place. She'd effectively be able to defend herself finally.

Maybe people had given her lots of advise, because of the way she looked. Frail and weak were good words used to describe her when looking at her. Kate didn't think that the girl was understanding exactly what she was telling her. That her weapon could, and would be used against her, and that it would be better to leave the damned thing at home. The taller girl chuckled again, smirking.
Fighting hadn't always been fun for her. Once upon a time Kate had been a sweet little freshman, innocent to the ways of the fist. She learned rather quickly, thanks to the student body of 552 in New York City. Couldn't get rougher than that.
So the taller blonde decided to try and prove the point to the other female. The thing was strapped on her back, but that didn't mean anything. Not to Kate.
The blonde moved slightly to the side, relaxed and calm. Then her arm shot out and grabbed the handle of the scythe, and lifted. In fact, she pretty much lifted the entire girl unless she did anything about it.

Sadly for Kate, proving the point was simply...pointless for the lack of a better word. Aurora was solidified in her skills, and while there wasn't any practical experience, at least not much in her, it was more than enough to counter this simple attack. Having a weapon was useless if it was used against you...true, but this was also one of the first things you learned when you used a weapon. Often, a warriors blade was stored in a convenient AND tactically advantageous spot. For Aurora's small frame, her back was perfect.
Kate was powerful no doubt, and Aurora had no intention of making this into a fight, but she had to get her weapon back...actually she just had to make her let go, which, with Kate's level of strength, was actually a rather easy feat. Instead of flailing wildly, Aurora actually levered herself, got some momentum, and reached behind her, snapping off the quick release. Free of weight, Aurora used the hanging scythe and Kate's own strength as a lever, using the built potential energy to release a powerful mid-air roundhouse kick, using the scythe as a pivot.
From this standpoint, there were two options from Aurora's standpoint.
She could release the scythe, evening the battle into something more standard...or...
Take the blow, letting Aurora simply wail on her with three full limbs compared to Kate's one free arm. Here comes the kick Kate, what are you going to do?

Well, the girl was quick, but by no means quick enough to be faster than Kate. She didn't blink, didn't move, didn't bat an eye lash until the kick connected with her body. The blonde was testing the blind little thing, trying to see how strong she was. Which was... weak. So many of the girls running around these halls were all the same, quick on their feet but oh so weak. Except for that one Sara chick. She was strong enough to be a fun girl fight here and there.
"Slow and weak. Tch."
There was nothing but disappointment in her voice. Nothing except that bitter taste of finding another weak person roaming these halls. Ha. They made her want to laugh. Her free hand shot out and grabbed the shorter girl by the ankle, and continued to pull up. The girl could try and wriggle out of her iron grasp, or just... dangle there.

Aurora lay hanging upside down, just a little angry, but more bitter than anything after letting Kate get the best of her. Needless to say, it was unlikely in the future that they would have any more relations. She was one to be avoided at all costs, regardless of her intentions. Thirteen had already expressed no desire to fight, and yet, just yet Kate forced this upon her. So much for stereotypes. Just goes to prove first impressions are almost always wrong. You don't get to see the real person until something like this happened.
Soon, she'd get her wish...a vision a mere thirty seconds into the future, and it would be altered so that to Thirteen, it's as if Kate never existed, and never would. Sure, she'd hear about it from others, maybe even hear the name, but in the coming weeks, Kate McHallin would for all intents and purposes, cease to exist. Thirteen didn't have time, nor the intelligence to waste on those who criticized others for their already known weaknesses, and especially to publicly display them after a request not to.
"I am. But luckily soon, you won't have to deal with it. Now put me down."
She was bitter. Yes, oh so bitter. But yet, she never raised her voice, as if she didn't have the capability, and to be honest, she really didn't. This was just pathetic. Aurora was here to learn about her future, to learn what was to come...not to be caught up in these pathetic confrontations. Cheerleaders. They really were as dumb as they looked...to Aurora...they were but smears on the wall.

Kate chuckled just slightly. The girl's voice was calm, like ice. Being a female, the blonde knew that voice. Every girl had it. When they screamed and threw things, they were mad. When they got this voice, they were beyond mad. The cheer leading Captain had just pressed all the wrong buttons for this little girl. It reminded her of... her life as a freshman. A slow sigh escaped her and Kate smiled, even though the girl couldn't see it.
"Of course I'll put you down. Never wanted to do anything but that. Just wanted to see how you'll fare, and if I should keep an eye out for you. When I'm out to make friends, I like to know what they can handle so I know when to help out. And when to step back."
She didn't apologize, but there wasn't anything harsh in her voice. Kate gently set the other female down, her grip becoming gentle. This girl reminded her... of herself. That was what it was. She wasn't as loud and rowdy as Kate had been, but the same... vibe? Be friends and smile. Something like that. Such silly things to think of.
"I'd deal with it if you wanted. You countered quickly, which is cool. And girlie, I'll let you know now. You're swimming with gangs, thugs, and sharks. Everyone here has a bite behind their sweet voices."
If anything, Kate had just proved it. She wanted to teach the girl a lesson, not scare the shit out of her or make her angry. Somebody so friendly walking around? They'd get themselves killed quicker than a moth to a light.

Dear. How nice of her to put Aurora down with such a courtesy. It was wrong of Thirteen to be at this school. She wasn't a fighter, she never had done anything wrong to anyone except maybe to discourage actions that might lead them to despair later on. But nothing like this. It was stupid, so completely and utterly pointless. Enough so that Thirteen didn't bother replying to anything she had to say. Countering? Useless if you couldn't land a decent hit. Friends? She had shown otherwise.
Everything Kate said, and had done, contradicted each other. So which was the part that should be taken at face value? Friendship? Or just the fact that Thirteen was another toy to be plastered against the wall? Seemed more like the second one. The bias was strong right now. She normally had a clear mind, but the circumstances behind this...whatever she should call it deemed otherwise. Her mind was swimming. If she had the choice to go into the past right now, she would, back to the farm, back to where it all began.
"I'm sure they do Kate. I'm sure. Take care of yourself."
That razor's edge was still there. If she ever wanted to see Thirteen again, it would be Kate's own time, not hers. For now, she was to be avoided. At all costs. Aurora turned and quietly, but swiftly swung her arm holding the scythe into a set of lockers behind her and drug it across as she walked, putting a gash into three in anger. Then, in contempt, clicked the blade back onto her back, and started out the doors back home.
