LOST?! (Nick first)

Kayna had stopped walking and froze where she stood, while Nick had continued, so he was a little bit ahead of her before he realized she had ceased movement. He turned around to face her.

"No? Well I had to ask because I wouldn't be able to tell otherwise." he smirked.

Nick had the odd habit of flirting with every girl he met. He even flirted with girls who he had already met, and even girls he knew weren't interested. Bottom line, Nick was a flirt. What was even worse is that he knew it and couldn't stop himself. Not that he would want to...

Quick, quick… I need a recovery spell! Regen, Cura, cure… pray… something! I let out a deep sigh of air, my eyes still focused downward to avoid anymore reddening. He was just asking for the sake of asking, nothing more so calm yourself down Kayna. I raised my head up and braved a smile to show, my eyes were shut to prevent me seeing any reaction in case he was staring at me like I was nuts, and tilted my head slightly to the side.

“Well… now you know.”

Great come back Kayna =.=‘ oh well. I tried to turn my focus on the hallway ahead to avoid anymore of his glances and get back to normalcy. I had to figure this was a good experience, most guys were going to act like that… especially in high school, so I had to get used to it right? Frankly I don’t think that would ever happen.

She was acting really strange at the question Nick had asked. She was looking towards him, but she had closed her eyes while she was talking.

"Me? Yeah, I'm single..."

The answer wasn't as important as what Nick needed to ask Kayna next.

"Um, are you alright? Did my question offend you? I'm sorry..."

He didn't want to seem to forward to her when he had just met her. Nick didn't think he had been, but her reaction stated otherwise. She was either really shy or she was hiding something...

Well, that was actually sort of a surprise. I would have figured Nick would have gotten a girlfriend acting the way he did by now. Or… was a player? Heh, he seemed far too nice to be someone to have more than one girlfriend. I was actually quite surprised when he started to apologize but given the way I had been acting… yeah… I turned to him with a smile and shook my head and hand to signify a no.

“No, no, no. It’s alright… just… I don’t get asked that very often, you know?”

It wasn’t a total lie seeing as I really didn’t get asked that question very much, but it was more so my known… you know. I sort of felt bad that I’d made him think he’d done something wrong. I tried to think of a way to better explain it…

“… I guess I was just caught off guard is all.”

"Ha, that makes sense, sorry I caught you off guard, but I just had to be sure just in case I'd be intruding on a relationship or something."

Great job, Nick, you always have to make things awkward.

Nick looked at her inquisitively, trying to figure this one out. Then he remembered the task at hand.

"Shall we continue to your locker?" he asked.

They still had a couple hallways to go, and hopefully he could make it less awkward than it currently was, but Nick had a knack for doing the opposite.

"So anything else you want to tell me about you?"

Intruding…? I wasn’t really sure what he meant by that but I sure wasn’t going to focus on it. I’d find myself in another fit of embarrass if I did. I had to admit it I’d gotten caught up in the conversation and forgotten where we were going so when Nick asked about continuing I giggled lightly and nodded a yes. I knew I’d get lost again, but at least I could get a general sense of this place.

Following Nick again I wasn’t certain where the conversation was going to go… the whole awkward moment that had passed still seemed to linger in the air. So when he asked about whether I had anything else to say, I paused to think about…

… I probably should mention one thing but… no…

“I think that’s pretty much it. Sorry, I’m not more interesting or something…”

"It's quite alright, everyone's interesting in their own way. I'm sure there's something about you that's wonderful."

Nick had started flirting again. At least they had resumed walking towards Kayna's locker. They turned a few corners and arrived in the hallway that contained the lost girl's locker, Nick looking around at the numbers on them to figure out where her locker was numerically.

Eventually he came to the locker with 321 engraved on it and pointed to it.

"And that should be it. If not, then I have no clue where your locker is..."

Something about me that’s wonderful? Probably not from your point of view, Nick… >.> Again I chuckled lightly to sort of let the moment pass again and avoid another stall. The pause while we walked gave me the time to consider the possibility that Nick might be ok with it… and he was good looking, and kind. I could hope right, too bad there wasn’t a way to find out how he’d react before actually telling him.

While I mulled over that little bit we came around a corner and Nick pointed to the locker that was mine. HOO-RAY!!! We made it! Overjoyed I threw my arms around Nick and gave him a big ole hug before scampering over to open it…

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

I exclaimed while I started to spin the dial and open the locker. Whew!

Nick liked hugs. He blushed and scratched the back of his head.

"Ha, you're welcome. No problem at all."

Kayna spun the locker's lock with her combo, and opened it up. Nick was glad he could help, and then thought that she'd probably get lost again if he left her now. Hell, he didn't have anywhere important to be, and he much rather spend time with this girl.

"Once you're done with your locker, is there anywhere you need to get to next? I don't want you getting lost again."

He smiled, dark blue eyes sparkling in the florescent hall lights as he asked.

I finished dealing with all the stuff I needed to put in my locker and shut it before turning around to face Nick again. My face would continually show how relieved I really was. It was nice of him to offer to help me around more but… I felt I couldn’t take him up on the offer. I let out a soft sigh and shook my head slowly before smiling up at him, the eyes of his got me all the time >.>…

“Thanks for the offer but I gotta pass. I’m sure I’ll get lost again but I can’t rely on you to take me everywhere around here. That wouldn’t be fair.”

Took a deep breath and started to walk with a bit more confidence. Having a general sense of where my locker was would help immensely. Now though Nick might offer to walk me around all the time, I had to figure out how to get around on my own. After all he wasn’t going to be here the entire time I was… at least I would hope not.

“Besides… when I do get lost again, you’ll just have to save me again.”

I continue off toward my class and left him with a little wink. ~.^

“Thanks for the offer but I gotta pass. I’m sure I’ll get lost again but I can’t rely on you to take me everywhere around here. That wouldn’t be fair.”

Nick thought about it for a second and she was right. If he took her everywhere, she would never learn where anything really was. He even kind of doubted she really knew where she and her locker were.

“Besides… when I do get lost again, you’ll just have to save me again.”

Nick thought that was probably true, as Nick seemed to always be in the wrong place at the right time. She walked away and winked back at him, making him blush a little. He knew what he had to do. He look out a piece of paper and wrote a little note on it, along with his phone number, and stuck in in the crevice of her locker. "Call me if you need help or want to go out anytime" it said. Nick smiled to himself and walked away, heading back to the roof.
