Moving forward (Kate)

So far things seemed to be going ok. He did what he had to do with Bastille and Adrian, but Adrian had brought up a point that was on his mind for a while, what to do about the Reapers. At first he had thought about getting rid of it, or taking it out from the inside. But then he remembered the Reaper Motto. Do what you want, when you want, because you want. He didn't have to quit the Reapers, he was just going to stay low for a while.

That's why he called Kate, it was a small little pizza place near the beach. She was probably the best suited for what he needed, a keen mind that knew how to run groups. After all she did it with the Collossai, she had experience.

So he waited, sitting at the booth, a pepsi on the table that he was drinking, he told the waitress that he was waiting for someone and that they would order when she got here.

No doubt she would be surprised to see him, not that she wasn't expecting him there, but that he wasn't wearing his Earth Dragon Coat. It was highly unusual, but it would all be explained to her, and hopefully it would all work out.

Kate wasn't sure what this meeting was about. She had a few ideas running through her head, but couldn't put her thumb on it. Normally, Kate was the one calling Mathew out, and not the other way around. She was dressed as normal as Kate got, white silk button up under a green jacket with some expensive designer blue jeans and a pair of heels.

A pizza place, which Kate wouldn't ever go to... unless it was for a friend, like Mathew. The girl walked into the place and quickly spotted her friend. Something was off... and that he wasn't wearing his normal gear. Which was a bit odd to the blonde, but didn't seem that WEIRD. People could choose not to wear things. What you wore depended on your mood.

Kate leaned over and brushed her lips on Mathew's cheek before sitting down in the booth across him.

"Hello handsome, what's this all about?"

Mathew didn't so much as flinch, let alone jump when he felt her lips on his cheek. Unexpected, but then she almost always was when it came to things like that. In a way it made her predictable. He waited for her to take a seat across from him, not responding to her handsome comment. Now that she was here things were a bit harder then he thought they would be.

"Do what you want, when you want, how you want." He said, more to himself then anything. His voice was quiet, loud enough for Kate to hear without straining, but the people in the next booth over wouldn't be able to hear him talk.

"The creed of The Reapers. It's amazing, don't you think? Such a simple concept. So simple and easy to grasp, but at the same time powerful. Do you know what you can do when you follow that?" He asked, not waiting for her to answer he would answer the question himself. "Anything. You can do anything with that mentality. I'm not leaving the Reapers. And I will still keep in contact with the council back in Long Beach. But I think I want to take a bit of a backseat in the running of this branch. Don't worry if something happens I will step up, and I will take any shit the council throws at you for this. It's my call.... But I am going to give you your shot. Not to act like you run it. But to run the show. Other then me, feel free to order the San Fran Branch around."

He said with a small smile. He had told her she wasn't going to be an apprentice. And while she wasn't running the gang, she was going to run a branch. Not as glorious as running Collossai in all but name, but it might be more practical.

"I told you that I didn't expect you to be an apprentice Kate." He said with a wink.

She slid into the seat across from him, still smiling. However, her face suddenly froze as she heard what he had to say. Wait... what? Wait just a damned minute?!?! She was confused... very, very confused. This was a bit much. Her shoulders slumped as she processed this. Don't act like you run it, but run it. Heh. That was going to be hard indeed.

"... Well... I had wanted to talk to you about Reaper business and some ideas I had..." Her voice trailed off, but there was this light in those emerald eyes. A certain kind of spark not many people saw. After all, Kate ran businesses in her sleep. She had run some gang stuff back in New York, and Mathew had known that.

"Alright Mattie. I'm gunna need somethings from you, as soon as you can get them to me. A list of the members in the area. The people I get to play with. I would also love to be informed of things the higher ups want done in some advanced time so I can get things done in a fashionable sense. And... I'm going to make the Reapers stronger Mattie. I need to know if you'd be up to fighting some of us."

Perfect, either way I know I did the right thing choosing her.

Mathew grinned at Kate when he heard her requests. A list of the members in the area, easy enough. He would take out a pen from his pocket and a napkin from the table writing down a list of names. The name of every Reaper in the area. Her second request was a bit more problematic, but still doable.

"Yeah I will forward all the messages I get to you." He said with a grin, his eyes lighting up in amusement at her last request. About fighting some of the Reapers. Oh he was more then game for that, he was actually hoping for it. After all, while he was trying to change, he still wanted to rule the world. And if he was going to be in a good light, well he would need to oppose those in a dark one.

"Great minds do think alike. Put me on the top of the hit list. Honestly it serves my purposes to distance myself a bit too. So lets make it good shall we?" He said raising a challenging eyebrow to the young blond.

Kate slid the paper closer to her, emerald eyes taking in every single name on the paper. There were a few people she knew, a few surprises, but otherwise she had met or knew them. The girl grinned at Mathew, those eyes sparking.

"There's someone who's trying to take out the pillars by the way. Offered to give me power beyond my current limits and all that jazz."

She tossed her head back and laughed. She would be running the Reaper show, same bat channel, same bat time. And the silly guy had offered her more power? Pft. As if. No way in hell.

"Gabriel Seran?" He asked. At least that was the name of the kid that had set fire to the lawn. He seemed to have his heart set on getting the current Pillars out, though his reasoning was weak, and the logic behind why they are unfit was flawed. Figures though, finally there is a group of Pillars that do their job, and now people are challenging them. Where were the challenges when the Pillars were lax? Letting violence run rampant, maybe that was the problem. All the troublemakers had their panties in a bunch. Mathew just rolled his eyes at that thought, they gave troublemakers like him a bad name.

Amateurs...

"Though I am curious as to what kind of power he thought he could offer you." He said with a frown, not a concerned one. More of a disappointed one. It really was depressing seeing what the people after him were up too. They just didn't seem to know how to play the game.

"God, I am telling you Kate. It's the end of an era. Remember the RoB and Collossai gang war? Remember how people did their homework on their enemy? It makes me sad, these new guys, these new gangs and anti pillars. Were we ever this bad?" He asked shaking his head as he sighed.

Kate chuckled, remembering the good ole days. If they could be called that at least. The blonde just smirked, a small bit.

"The only time I was ever that bad Mathew, was with you. I learned my lesson that one time. I am a hearty believer in learning from your mistakes."

But these new kids running around? No they weren't the kind who were going to last very long in the least bit. Kate didn't plan on them being around for long at least.

"I'm really planning on doing some damage, teaching the kids their fundamental lessons and all."

On the plus side I'd get to order Jester around. That made me very happy. I'd get to order Adrian around as well, which was a different sort of happy.

"When you send the hit after me, I would suggest sending Adrian too. I think he knows my fighting style the best. Linda would be a good choice, as would Jester. Though I will be carrying ear plugs from now on. You can't be to careful." Mathew would say with a grin.

It was also nice to know that he was the reason Kate was so careful now. But then again, he had blind sided her before. She was cocky, and he was a new kid on the block. She thought she had nothing to fear, it was a lesson hard learned, but at least she learned it. He couldn't say the same for most people.

"Honestly I hope you do smack some sense in to them. It is embarrassing to be on the opposite side of such amateur attempts at bringing down the system. It's under Dragon protection now, it is going to take a lot more then some half assed attempt to bring us down, especially if the Reapers are going to be getting active." He said with another small chuckle.

"You know it will be odd to be enemies again after we leave here. Well.... sort of enemies. I know you will keep this between us, as far as anyone else is concerned. We're enemies now."

"Why should I carry earplugs?"

She didn't know about Jester's Qi. At least not yet, but it would be a good piece of information indeed. In fact, probably vital to Kate bossing the boy around. Once again, the blonde was going to love it. She looked over the list again, and sighed just slightly.

"Well, I'm just going to say this out loud Mathew. If we really want to handle this giant flow of students... we're going to need more members. Instead of being so selective, I think we should find people who can be molded correctly into our selective little group and bring them up to speed. Call it Kate Boot Camp if you will, but I've found one or two people that are... well interesting enough for me to want to scoop them up before someone else does."

Yes, a few indeed. She had been fighting plenty of students around the area. Very few had beaten her, and she had defeated a lot more. But there were a few she had her eye on.
