I know it's healthy to have three meals a day (actually, I've read that you should have six small meals a day), but I didn't feel like eating lunch. There was a reasonable explanation, of course. It wasn't like my stomach randomly decided it wasn't going to be hungry after the routine of being hungry every day at noon for several years. No, it was directly my fault; I had been munching on fruit and pistachios (that is, ovaries and nuts, for the pervy girl in me) during my past few periods. Sure, I could read, do research, or finish up homework as I often did in my spare time around the school, but I think the energy from the food made be a bit antsy. Instead, I decided to go running.
I jog a lot, actually, so I was decently trained to have endurance and speed for a few laps around the race track on the P.E. field. I wasn't racing anyone in particular, though, at least not yet. For now, I just set the timer on my watch. My time to beat? Seven and a half minutes for a mile. Oh, hush. I'm not an Olympian, but I'm in shape. Plus, I had the perfect sports bra to keep my annoying, fat girls (a.k.a. my titties) from bouncing around like ravers on ecstasy to techno music, along with a light tank top and running shorts. I was totally set.

Max heard the bell to go to lunch. The problem was he wasn’t hungry. He had a huge breakfast this morning and just still wasn’t hungry. He didn’t know what he was going to do today though. He just didn’t really feel like anything except getting his head straight. He started to walk around the school. He saw girls with guys. He saw girls look at him and blush while walking away hoping he didn’t see them. He had on a white undershirt with a dark green button up shirt that was open. He got to where the track was and saw a girl that was running. He had never seen her before and decided to take a seat. See what she was up to. The thing was he hadn’t seen her around before. He sat among the bleachers and got comfortable. He didn’t know how long she was going to be.

Ah, so I had an audience now, huh? That is, an audience consisting of a single guy. Poor guy. The show was almost over now, and with the handy-dandy sports bra I mentioned before, there were no Baywatch-style bouncing boobies as I ran. Heck, I didn't even trip and fall over on my face. THAT would have been a good show.
Anyhow, I ended up finishing my mile in seven minutes and forty-three seconds. Shit! I was so close! Meh, not really. I was just trying to make myself feel better. I'm actually pretty off from the record. But eh, it wasn't entirely about the competition. It was about staying healthy, and I was sure as hell a healthy gal.
Since I didn't want to disappoint my spectator, I grabbed my canvas bag near the end of the track and climbed up on the bleachers. "What's a super sexy girl oggle target like you doin' up here all by yourself?" I joked as I plopped down next to him, pulling out a canteen of water to drink out of--yup, gotta stay hydrated. "You should be making out with that line of girls that's probably waitin' for you that hanging out on a P.E. track!"

“I like to be left alone every once in a while. You know, get some fresh air. As for the girls none of them are really my type. There is this one girl though. Seems to like to keep in shape, and she seems to be good looking.”
Max would look over to the girl. He was in the total flirting mood. This was going to be a good day for Max if she didn’t have a boyfriend, but if she did then would she really of been here alone? Probably not but people were really weird now a days. He would move his position in the way he sat to be facing here. He would bring a leg and rest it upon the bench while the other stayed off.

Hahah. Was he taking me seriously or just going along with it? I mean, I was partially kidding, but he seemed to be attractive according to modern American standards, so I wouldn't be uberly surprised if there were girls constantly staring and giggling.
And if he was talking about me (I'll admit, I really didn't know. Do I sound like a total airhead? Shit), he would be up for a challenge. I didn't just play hard to get, I was hard to get. Plus, I hadn't entirely sorted things out with Andrew yet. Sure, he was aware that I hated his guts, but I hadn't officially broken things off. Officially meaning legally...
In any case, I could still have fun with this guy (verbally. I'm not referring to any genital toying here), see what else might pop out of his mouth. "Oh, is that so?" I asked with a lift of an eyebrow, not letting on that I wasn't entirely sure about the conversation thus far. "Well, why don't you get a little closer so you can tell if what SEEMS to be in shape and SEEMS to be good looking actually IS?"

Max scooted closer to the girl. He was right when he said that she was good looking. She was far better than some of the other girls there.
“This better for you?”
He would give her a smile that would come across on most guys faces when the started to flirt. He would let her make the next move in deciding what she wanted to do. If she decided to move closer it would be a good day. He would then let his body mold to how she wanted. If she did not come closer than he would continue to flirt.

Yay! I am slightly less lost than I was before. Er, no. I think I am entirely caught up. He obviously found me attractive (I swear, I'm not trying to sound like a snotty bitch here; I'm only being honest, and I can come across as both bitchy and snotty in other ways that have absolutely nothing to do with my appearance), so that made him a fun target. I'm not going to say that I'm entirely difficult to 'pick up,' that is, it's not impossible to get a date with me under normal circumstances, but the manner in which somebody like this fine gentleman would go about doing so is very different than how one would assume to approach most girls.
He wasn't terrible so far. It could certainly be much worse, like if he used one of those tacky pick-up lines. "Do you have a mirror on your belt? 'Cause I can see myself in your pants!" or even a seemingly innocent yet still cheesy one, "Did it hurt? You know, when you fell from heaven?"
However, he was still the type I could mess with. Social experiment! Let's see how long it takes before he: a)Scores some points with me, or b)Gives up and walks away. If it was in the name of science, I had to do it, right?
"Oh, definitely!" I gushed, turning my shoulders toward him and smiling slow and soft, like an awkward middle school dance when the guy wants to get his hands on the girl's butt (my similes are often strange. Don't mind them too much). "Now I get to feel the warmth of your irresistible, sexy body in the air, and I can stare at your undeniable hotness." Poetry at its finest, yes?

She was either being totally sarcastic or she really like me already. If she was being sarcastic that was meaning she would be hard to get, which isn’t always a bad thing. Max looked back at the girl. He looked at how she was acting. She must of liked him right? Even though it sounded like a complete joke. He would take it kindly.
“Lets not talk about me though. It is you I seem to be interested in. So do I get a name or am I going to have to work for that?”
Ok, it was supposed to be kind of funny yet serious at the same time. He needed to call her something. He would then reach out for her hand. If she let him then he would cradle it while he waited for an answer.

He tried to hold my hand. Well, not in the traditional sense, with laced fingers and signifying some sort of relationship, but there was physical interaction between digits and palms. Alright, I'd let him do that, as long as he didn't try to stick it down his pants. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was smarter than that. No harm so far then.
Yet this guy was still saying 'seems,' as in, 'it's you I seem to be interested in.' Was he trying to preserve an air of mystery? Or was that just his style?
"I won't make you work for just a name," I reassured him. "I'm Demetra. Pleasure to meet you." I tilted my head toward his shoulder. "You have a sexy name to match that sexy face of yours?"

“The pleasure is mine.”
He would then lean down and slightly give her a kiss on the hand. It was the polite thing to do where he was from. If she pulled away he would not force her hand but simply continue talking.
“And as for my name you can call me max, Demetra.”
It was her move on what she did. He had put her in the hot seat. Not intentionally but so he didn’t seem like he was doing all the work. Even though this was not work, this was fun.
(Sorry for being so short)

[OOC: Length isn't a problem. It can be two sentences, as long as I have something to respond to. I should apologize for mine being longer than necessary, as my character tends to ramble a bit. =X]
Awww... he kissed my hand! What a cute little gesture. Let me think-- that originated in times when noblewomen would put on layers of makeup, as they wouldn't bathe often enough to remove their old makeup from the prior days, so rather than kiss their mouth or cheek, a man would kiss their hand. Oh wait, I think they just kissed the neck. Well, I certainly wasn't about to ask this guy to kiss my neck. Haha. But hey, I rarely wore makeup, and today was no exception.
"Max, hm?" It was a Latin name, meaning 'greatest.' So apparently, whoever named him thought he was the greatest. "Is that short for Maximilian or Maxwell, or is it just Max?" I leaned in toward his ear, changing my voice to a light whisper, "But you know, I'll call you whatever you like..."

“It is just Max and my name is open… to whatever you find to be the best of names, my dear Demetra.”
Time to quote a little of Juliet’s monlogue.
“What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. If that is so to you then once again you can call me whatever you find most dear.”
It sounded cool at the moment. Well at least it did to him. He would have to see how she would take it. If she hated romeo and juliet he would have just killed his chances and it would have been hard to recover from it. The only thing he had on his side was luck, hopefully.

Oh. My. Gawd.
So I'm not a true stereotypical valley girl, but that was the first three words in my head. He quoted Shakespeare! And not only that, it was the romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet. I wasn't a big Shakespeare follower, but hell, I had taken notes in English classes and read the literature like everyone else. While the lines were not initially part of the same type of setting that we were in, he actually used them in a way that made sense to what we were talking about. NOW I was impressed. A person who has an intellectual brain in their head is far more important to me than one who's got a pretty face.
"What an accurate quote," I commented, pulling back to my original position. "I hope you don't commit suicide over me, though, dear. We've only just met."

“Suicide is the one thing I would never do. It is morally wrong and a selfish thing to do. When people do that they hurt everyone who knew them, especially great friends.”
It was true. Max knew about stuff. He was the rare student that actually paid attention when the topic was interesting. Although that was mere common sense right? It wasn’t like that was a major question on whether they hurt other people. Of course they did. Enough of that though he would hope she listened and once again agreed. He could tell from the quote she had been shocked. Score one for Max, although points really don’t matter do they. Oh well.

Hmmm. He was opinionated. That was interesting. I liked when people people had something intellectual to say, even if they didn't agree with me. Hey, what can I tell you? I enjoy a good debate.
"Morally wrong?" I questioned, tilting my head to the side in curiousity. "So, you think that people are obligated to stay alive in a life they don't enjoy in order to please their dear friends. If a person really wishes to die, though, they can't put much value on their friends, therefore the friends aren't all that great. And would it be acceptable for a lonely person, who doesn't have muich family or friends, to kill him or herself?" I shook my head. "I don't condone suicide, of course. It's just something to think about."
I stood up off the bleachers, gathering my belongings. "Anyway, I should probably shower and change. No need to stay in these smelly clothes." With that, I handed Max a slip of paper with my cell phone number written on it. "Call me if you want to talk some more."
Now, time to get this sweat off my body! I headed toward the girl's locker room, waving goodbye to my newly made acquaintance.
[Exit Demetra.]
