In the middle of a heavily scented room filled with hundreds of dresses and everything a girl could want groaned a Japanese teenager. Despite being female, she still felt like an alien trapped in a human town.
She cursed her upbringing in a house full of men. Basic things that a girl could now such as putting on makeup, matching clothes, and fixing her hair were unknown to her. A time such as this caused a sickening feeling in her stomach.
If only her mother was there to raise her.
In an attempt to make herself more feminine, she took a trip to the mall. The first store she saw was filled with shoes and dresses, and looked like the kind of place a girl would want to live in. She entered and was immediately pounced by one of the saleswomen. The Japanese girl was shown several dresses and was finally pushed into one of the dressing rooms.
The one she was currently trying on was light yellow and reached to her knees. However, she was having problems with the zipper in the back. She spent a minute straining her arms but gave up and sighed.
Her eyes caught movement through a small opened in the curtain.
"Um, could you help me out a little?"
She saw a girl with purple streaks in her hair, who she assumed worked at the store.
"If you'll just zip this up."
Emi turned, revealing the zipper on the back on her dress.

[[OOC: Sorry for the wait little lady D: My posting powas are kinda on the rocks @__@;;; ]] The Mall, always a place that a socially awkward girl dreads to go.. What makes the socially awkward have to step forward into the world of the unknown.. the trendy... the confusion! Yes, what goes through one's mind when they realize that they must submerge themselves into a world where everyone must be tiny, where they all must look a certain way! Where they must dress only in the trendy colours of the season! Where there aren't always the fashions you want! Where things can be seen one day and be cool and be deemed unfit for public another? Why do people torment themselves? Why do they always go back? Surely, if they tried hard enough, they'd have been able to avoid the mess! Avoid being seen in public wandering a mall alone! To save one's self from the torture that is looking through clothes, always searching for the right things! To escape the chances of public humiliation! Why go to the mall.. when you can shop online? Well, I guess the thing is, you need to see and feel things! To know that they'd look good! to know they'd fit one's form! So, there's always a reason... I just have to dread the visits! Why did I make that journey? Why did I leave the house? Because of a guy.. That's right! I, Nova Bryant did it all because of a guy! Back then, I guess I was crazy to go through such lengths for some high school boy! To look good for a guy! Remember, all people can be a little weak and do things differently.. when they like someone! Even me!
Heaving a heavy sigh, the tanned girl made her way around a store. It was definitely a place that she did not belong, she knew it well! Though, that wasn't going to stop Nova, not at all! She was a girl with a quest! A mission! Something along those lines. But anyways. Green eyes darted from display to display, looking at the white figures that wore the clothes. It was like being on another planet! The girl was far used to the smell of old books, older clothes, and the faint smell of incense. Yes, used clothing stores were once her source of clothing; everything was second hand. Well, there was never enough money for her to buy things new, not with her family's taste. It didn't matter to her, she looked different from everyone else, that's all that mattered.
The smell of perfume was suffocating, surely not something Nova was used too; since he had never used perfume. Looking from out fit to out fit, rummaging through the folded clothes, and searching through the racks of clothes. The girl would cringe a little every time someone scraped the hangers across the metal poles, she hated that noise. Trying to shake it off the feeling.. the memory of the noise, Nova continued to search for some clothes! Yes, clothes that would make her look better and not like, she bought everything from a second hand store. She wanted to hide the truth, in fear of Nick not liking her. She was approached by some sales representative, it was kind of awkward. Partially because Nova babbled on, maybe because the sales lady had no idea how to pick the right colours for her hair and skin tone. But after twenty minutes, they were able to pick out something.. Something.
Walking down to the change rooms, Nova began to feel a little self conscious. The girl could feel the eyes on her, she knew all to well she didn't belong. Sighing a little the American girl continued her walk towards the change rooms. Before long disappearing from their sight, only to find herself in a hallway. Yes, she needed to find a free change room. Walking up and down the chamber of curtained rooms, Nova scanned for a free one. Sadly, she didn't find one, all filled with some girl that fit in trying on a dress that would make them look fabulous. Just her luck.
"Um, could you help me out a little?"
The girl looked around, searching for both the owner of the voice and a staff member. Sadly, she found neither. Listening for the girl to speak again, Nova remained silent and still waiting for the mystery girl. Maybe I should get some help! I mean, I don't work here... So should I be helping someone? Or.. like.. Her thoughts were cut off, she saw the girl. She was cute, really cute! Nova couldn't believe it. Regardless, the girl just turned to look at her, still with some clothes draped over her left arm. She smiled at her, only to acknowledge that she heard the girl.
"If you'll just zip this up."
"Sure thing." Nova spoke softly, still smiling a little as she took a step towards the girl. Using her left hand to hold the bottom of the zipper strip, and pulling it up with her right.
*zzzzzzzziiiipppppp*
" There you go!" The girl took a step back, chuckling nervously as she looked at the girl. Ever wondering if she should continue on her search.. stay there, or just walk away. Since she had never been faced with such a scenario, Nova really had no way of responding to such a thing. Apart from doing up the zipper, she was completely clueless. What do I do now? How should I know? I don't know T____T.. The awkward American girl was beginning to curse herself for being not understanding such things, she just wanted to get something to wow Nick with. But things never seem to work out as planned, at least not for her. It was just supposed to be: in the store! get the dress, bolt, and no social interaction..Who knows, maybe she won't talk to you! Maybe! Could be.. Yah! She paused for a moment.
"Is there anything else I can help you with?" Nova questioned, still wearing a smile. Ever wondering if it was weird she had to pause for a moment, or if it was odd that she was still there.

"Thanks."
Although her hair was short, she still held it up as Nova zipped up the dress she was trying on. She only allowed the strands to fall back to her neck when she felt something tighten around her chest. After standing in place for another second, she turned around and smiled at her lifesaver.
"Oh... You don't work here. Sorry." She giggled nervously and her cheeks turned slightly pink. Mistaking someone else for a saleswoman was embarrassing, and she imagined that Nova felt a little humiliated or even insulted.
"Well, there's nothing you can do. Sorry about the little mistake."
She turned back to the mirror and frowned.
"Yellow really isn't my color. It makes me look like a child."
Emi went through the other dresses she found and picked out one in the same design as the one she was currently wearing. The only difference was that this one was black.
"Black looks much more sexier, but I don't know if I could pull it off. I look too young."
She turned around and held up the dress to Nova.
"It would look way better on you. There aren't any dances or anything coming up, but there's nothing else to do today but shop."
Emi giggled again, her embarrassment disappearing as she started to warm to the girl. She hoped that she wasn't acting too weird by starting a conversation with a complete stranger.
"My name is Emi."

"No problem." Two words, spoken in a friendly tone, not wanting to scare the little lady off and all.
"Oh... You don't work here. Sorry."
Nova wasn't really sure how to feel, after all she was mistaken for someone who works in some trendy store. It made her feel a little horrible about her clothing choices, but kind of alright. It sort of made her day, after all she didn't pick hideous clothes to wear! She must be doing something right. A smile invaded the tanned girl's face, "It's quite alright." Followed by a friendly chuckle.
"Well, there's nothing you can do. Sorry about the little mistake."
Watching the girl as she looked in the mirror, she nodded in agreement with her. It was a little odd talking to her, after all they had never been formally introduced. But, maybe it would be okay! After all, it was just another opportunity to meet a friend! Nova was going to try her best not to be too awkward. Noting the fact that the girl frowned and disliked the dress, she felt a little bad. "It does make you look like a child, I wouldn't suggest getting that one! People prey on the cute." Nova laughed a little, it was her attempt at making a joke and complimenting the girls appearance. I am so awkward @__@ You are... Jerk...
It was kind of fun talking about clothes with someone! After all, recalling all her previous conversations, they were kind of on the obscure side, or just a little bland! This time her smile didn't seem to nervous, she was actually relaxing a little around whatever her name wash. Note to self...Ask her name! She had been talking about how young she looked and the sexiness of black, also how she probably wouldn't be able to pull it off. She had a point on both notes, that was for sure. For some reason, white or pink seemed to work well with her. It came as a surprise, when the girl turned to hold the dress up to her.
"It would look way better on you. There aren't any dances or anything coming up, but there's nothing else to do today but shop."
Nervous laughter from the awkward American girl, she was having a hard time believing that it suited her. After all, she was under the assumption everything in the store was a little too trendy for her. "I'm not sure about that!" A chuckle. "I take it you like to dance?" Yes, she knew all to well what a stupid question it was, but it was something to talk about! Right? It was the best she could do, Nova wished to make a new friend, but it was just hard to work up the confidence to try for it... or more so, not to mess it up.
"My name is Emi."
"It's a pleasure to meet you Emi! My name is Nova."

Emi laughed at Nova's little joke. Truthfully, she didn't no how to answer a line like that without sounding cocky or criticizing her appearance. She did feel warm inside at being called cute, but at the same time, she felt a little troubled about what she could say in return. In the end, she decided to just give no answer.
"No, it does look good on you."
She held the dress up the the purple-haired girl and smiled. Why was it that foreigners looked older? She was jealous that Nova looked more mature compared to her. With just a little makeup and a great dress, Nova could easily become the most stunning girl in the room.
"Actually, I've never danced. I used to live in Japan, so we didn't have school dances or prom." She sighed before continuing,"I'm just looking around the mall for something more girly to wear. My clothes all look like something a boy would wear."
Truthfully, her clothes had in fact been wore by boys at one time, namely her older brothers. Sometimes she was too lazy to go shopping, so she just picked out a few small shirts and wore some old pairs of jeans she dug up. However, ever since she developed feelings for Nick, she wanted to do more for her appearance to make him like her more. That called for a drastic wardrobe change.
"Nice to meet you, too," she said, laughing. "I don't think there will be any dances soon, so there is no point in checking out this place. Still, it is fun to try on dresses."
She turned her head around and looked at her behind in the mirror. Well, the good thing about the dress was that it hid her butt. Or lack of. Maybe it wasn't that bad, after all.
