Chongy: Choongsung (Jin Woo) has suggested the following proposal.
(Written by Albert Chan (Zer0: Zack) in an effort to capture the essence of his idea)
The initial idea is for Staff to roleplay random NPCs.
One objective of this motion is to encourage the roleplaying of foil characters for the roleplayers. This allows characters to grow and develop without the omniscient control of the roleplayer himself or herself.
It adds a wildcard to the play and encourages roleplayers to really react to unexpected and spontaneous interactions with their IC character.
Random NPCs can be random gang members, people in a classroom (I'm already seeing a few random NPCs being used by roleplayers already but this proposal encourages a third party to take control of the NPCs)
Discussion is open to the floor and I will ponder on this notion myself as well.
Thanks for your time!

I've seen this suggestion in many different RPB's, and if I'm not mistaken we've talked about it for this one as well. Simply put, it's a no go. Threads would have to wait for staff to come in, NPC's would most likely have to be given stats, and posting would slow down since not all of us are at the beck and call of roleplaying NPC's. Since we have our own characters, quest characters, and staff work, realistically speaking we aren't robots and we wouldn't be able to pull it off.
Thus we leave it to the people in the thread to Roleplay these random NPC's as plot devices for their thread. So while I do like the idea, you would most likely need somebody with a years supply of five hour energy and red bull with no life to pull it off.

Hmm... I'm thinking this shouldn't so much be implemented as a staff thing, but more encouraged as a role-playing feature where one joins another's thread as an NPC rather than his or her own character.
The difference from what we are doing currently is that the NPC is now controlled by a third party rather than the the owners of the characters involved in a thread.

We already have a system akin to this - which is the Gang system. Upon creation of a gang you are able to create NPCs of which you can RP. That is for NPCs who fight, at least. As far as I've understood, NPCs of a gang are shared amongst the gang itself. So basically akin to that idea. So the suggestion goes like this, correct me if I'm wrong: that a roleplayer be allowed to RP not as his character, but as a disposable, may-or-may-not-reoccur NPC? While I can see the interesting things that can be done with that, I think the mods may have to study on this before we decide to do or not do it. I'll bring it up on our next meeting, if it's okay. If it is approved, then that is one more system we will have to devise. ; No worries O: Thanks for the suggestion ^^

Yes.
I don't entirely see a system as necessary... but with further thought... standards on what kind of characters can be created... (stat-wise) may have to be set.
Will discuss. Thanks ^^
