Wild Card (Plot)

[David Blaze]

Gabriel was right on one thing- that David was indeed snatching what he could. As to pushing the agenda now, he was not doing so. He was acting as his time frames suggested, and this was all part of the plan. David never did anything without thinking it through, and he never put all his chips in one big bet. Having Gabriel sided with him was a plus to his goal, one that could decide the time it would take to complete what he wanted. David was no amatuer, and he was ready and commited to seeing this through before his graduation. He casually shrugged, as if they werent talking about the lives of people that hung in the balance.

"Simple really. First, i'll sit here and hear out your plan and give my own input- whether you decide to use it or not is your choice. Afterward, you'll give me your word that when and if i need it, your help will be mine. If my plan does not work which i believe wholly that it will, then we can try things your way without my interference. Hell, i'll not only not interfere or try to stop you, i'll help you to reach your goals."

He watched gabriels figure, his stance, and waited for a reply.

Hopfully this would go favorably, though if it didnt...well.

There was always plan B.

Gabriel chuckled , "Simple enough..."

He shook his head lightly unscrambling the data that had been shaken about over the past few days.

"You've heard on my plans to do with the hierarchy correct? How democracy will reign?" Gabriel gave a short nod repeating his often used phrases in each of his speeches. "All I need is a way to knock out the pillars and deal with the gangs and the teachers causing this havoc. All in one punch preferably..."

"With all that in order, if I am to take the Captain position I will hand it down to an electoral vote" Gabriel stopped waiting the ever criticizing Blaze to work on his ideals.

David nodded, a small smile coming to his face.

Gabriel had the exact same goal as he did, though from thier past experience he knew that this young man would go about it in a far different way. Probably a far more violent way too. He casually flicked his hand as if to punctuate.

"How? You plan to do this, and plan to do that. I just wonder- how will you reach those goals? Is it just a generalized statement of pre-determined actions that you have yet to figure out the small quirks of, or do you already have everything set out? And if you do, im just curious- how will you do it?" His grin faded. "I ask only because i too wish for the same things- i just want to know by what means you plan to go about them." He put a small, white lie in there. David never planned on becoming Captain again.

Hell, if he had his way there would never be another captain once he was through. He watched the young Seran, glad to see that he had at least one part of his ends striaght. Now it was time to see who would take the damage from these battles and victories...

[Gabriel Seran]

"questions questions questions. David Blaze have you faltered so much since time passed?" Gabriel cooed pleasantly from his resting place in the bed still flexing the metal gauntlet feeling how it differed how much it provided him.

"What of the bold strategies of kings and great eras? Why are you so indecisive?" Gabriel grinned cunningly, "I plan on using what I have to remove the Pillars the only way they will ever pass down the mantel. As for the gangs, They will serve there purpose as well. Turn them all against one another."

Gabriel stood from his bed now feeling his feet once more, "Have you ever heard about the theory of Balance Mr. Blaze?" Gabriel would wait a moment, "You see when one necessary evil is existing in the same time there is an equal good fighting it, you see balance. It works like that, with one dictoral control I aim to combat it with an army of the people... and you're here today simply as one of the people? I think not... Do you see yourself as the leader now? Captain certainly not but you wish to lead, or have by some means done about it to make yourself at it's head?"

David quirked an eyebrow.

"Forgive me as this may seem offensive, but you, Gabriel Seran, know next to nothing about me. I have been Captain three times in my life, and have fought in battles you could hardly begin to fathom. I don't need a lecture from you on the topic. And as for my being indecisive-" He smirked. "I was never deciding anything, but asking you of your decisions." He leaned back in his seat once again, Clearing his throat. "Look, i understand what you are trying to do and can appreciate it, but think on this." He bit his lip, looking down before looking back at his mental adversary. "The pillar system is flawed to an extreme- the Captain and his three subordinates were never meant to rule themselves."

"They were meant to be the arm of the Headmaster."

"They are not, at this point in time, the best way to go about protecting a school. I believe, however, that the people who currently hold the titles want what is best for the students, otherwise why would they decide to hold them?" He shook his head. "I am getting off topic, however. I did not want to get into a dispute about the pillars. I merely wanted to see for myself what exactly it is that you want to do and to ask for your support should the time come."

He stood, grabbing his jacket.

"Now that you have given it, i'll take my leave."

He turned to go, stopping before he took two steps.

"Gabriel."

He turned back around after saying Serans first name, looking him square in the eye.

"You know that your plan could hurt a lot of innocent people, don't you?"

Gabriel looked him dead in the eye cold and unchanging, "I'll do what is necessary..."

Gabriel was cold, lives meant nothing in the short run, little consequence to the larger picture. If things came to it, he would not hesitate to sacrifice each and every soldier he had behind him for change. For the greater good, it was an easy excuse to make, but great things come from sacrifice.

David closed his eyes, turning his back and walking slowly from the room.

That was all he needed to hear.

When all was said and done, David knew without a shadow of a doubt that, because of that thought process and statement, he and Gabriel would likely become bitter enemies.

His regret for that knowledge ran deep.
