Nick chuckled at her being frightened by a spider. They weren't that bad and Nova overreacted, which made Nick laugh. He took hold of her hand so they could walk back the way they came.
"You're right, we don't want to be out too late."
His thumb started to rub against her hand as they started to walk once more. The skeptical and paranoid look on Nova's face wasn't helping him think that it was just a spider either. Perhaps there was something else bothering her. He would ask and if she wanted to tell him she would, otherwise he would just drop it for the time being.
"Are you sure everything is okay?"

She felt Nick take her hand, usually her face would turn red. This time, there was something on her mind, she was afraid. Terrified of so many things! Nick finding out about her fears, her parents driving up to them, going home to her empty apartment, being alone while being paranoid. Nova wanted Nick to stay with her, but she couldn't bear to ask of such a thing from him. The last thing she wanted was to drag him into it all, to let him see the real her, to have him hate her for it all. The most the girl could do was smile a little, trying to make herself seem a little better then before.
"You're right, we don't want to be out too late."
"Yes... we can't worry our respective guardians." Nova spoke softly her voice sounding a little more happy. She had managed to convince herself a little more, that it was just a look a like. "My aunt will freak if I'm out too late." She laughed a little, trying to keep herself from looking sad about lying. The truth was her auntie was used to her being out really late, but surely Nick didn't know that.
Then she realized what Nick was doing, rubbing his thumb against her hand. That alone made the girl feel way better, she was feeling less and less horrible about the car sighting. But worse about the lying, it was eating away at her. Nova wished to tell him the truth, but she couldn't bear it, she didn't want him to hate her for lying. It was just something she had to do to keep Nick. You know! White lies for the sake of love!
"Are you sure everything is okay?"
He cared about her, but she couldn't tell him. She needed to lie, that was for sure.
"Well of course! I'm fine Nick, no need to worry." With that Nova chuckled a little, she was getting better; she even fooled herself a little. They walked for a few more moments before she saw it again, the car was down another street, it was so obvious, driving slow. The person had to obviously be..Lost! Yes, she was fooling herself, but she needed to seem happy for Nick's sake. Yes, Nova thought that a lot, the girl assumed she was doing good by keeping the young man out of things; leaving him on the outside. She was wrong about it though. With that her grasp on Nick's hand tightened, it was the only thing keeping her calm. Nick's presence, his hand in hers, the fact he was still there with her after she blundered many times that night.

Nova seemed to have cheered up a little bit, but was still acting paranoid. She tightened her grip on his hand and he looked over to her and smiled. Apparently everything was alright, and he was guessing she didn't want to tell him what was wrong for his sake. She didn't want him to worry about her, but by not telling him what was really wrong, she was doing exactly what she didn't want to do in the first place. He was worried.
They approached her Aunt's apartment a few minutes later and they climbed the stairs to the door.
"Alright. Well I should get going now, don't want to be home too late."
He would say goodbye and give her a little kiss on the cheek before leaving to do home for the rest of the night.

The rest of the walk was silent, Nova was just enjoying being with Nick. Though, she had to wonder what was going on in his head, it was just something she'd want to know.. sometime or another. She saw the car a few more times on the journey home, which just kind of confirmed her fears. In their own way, they were stalking her. Waiting for Nick to leave before striking! It was late, therefore it was their time to start crap, since they dared not in the day light. In fear of being caught an all! Since if they were to be caught, it would mean doom for them, for sure.
Before she knew it, they were at her apartment. She had been too consumed in paranoia to notice it. The girl felt horrible, she should have used the time to talk to him.. Get to know him more, make him smile some how. But instead she was acting weird and staying silent. Nova prayed to whatever there was up there, wishing that he'd once again visit her or be near her! something along those lines.
"Alright. Well I should get going now, don't want to be home too late."
"Yeah, you are right! Safe journey home!" Nova smiled a little, her face turned red once the young man kissed her cheek. Feeling bad can make people do weird things, as well as being in love! So, they both kind of combined. Before Nick left, the girl quickly kissed him on the lips, trying to show that she liked him and was trying her best! "Good night Nick!" The girl spoke softly, her face was bright red as she watched him walk off. It was only a small bump on a soon to be rocky path. Nova then opened the door and locked it, looking in at a dark and empty apartment, preparing herself mentally for what was to come.[/center]
