Time To Talk (Kate)

[Adrian]

((This thread takes place just a few hours after this one.

Adrian had spent the last few hours tending to his girlfriend. After what had come close to being a very traumatic separation of the two, Adrian had consented, returning to find her more distraught than he thought she would have been, he had held her until she cried herself unconscious, whereupon, quickly, he took her to her bed.

Since then, he had cleaned her cuts lightly and, carefully, removed the tattered remains of her outerwear, and tucked her into the bed, so she could be comfortable when she awoke. Adrian's face contorted into a soft frown, however: she would likely be waking up soon, and when she did, they would very likely have to have the conversation she seemed to want to have before he flipped his shit on her.

Kate's eyes began to flutter, and Adrian took a seat in a nearby chair, letting out a sigh. So she wanted to talk? It was time to talk.

[Kate]

It was like waking up from a bad dream. Where you look up at the ceiling and realize you've been sleeping all along. The kind of "Oh hey, guess I don't have to stress about that after all". Poor Kate thought it all had been some kind of dream, even though it hadn't been. She blinked several times before looking over to her side, where Adrian was sitting. Sitting and watching her sleep. One eyebrow lifted and a small smirk appeared on her full lips. The blonde had been about to call him a pervert (all in good fun) when she noticed that her body hurt. Like she had been put through a wood chipper or something.

Kate was sore. She had to go through a check list of sorts to figure out why, but it all came back to her. The bar fight, coming home, the fight with Adrian... everything he had said... All the emotions were flooding back in, if a little dulled by the fact it was over and done with.

She didn't say a word to him, just stared at her boyfriend. Because they were still dating (hopefully) and he was still her boyfriend (hopefully). She had nothing to say suddenly, and just stared at him like a deer caught in head lights.

[Adrian]

Kate came to, but didn't speak at first. Adrian paused, not sure what to say at first, either. There was a moment of long, awkward silence between them.

Adrian thought about what to say, and found he didn't really know where to start. After all, Kate was the one who had brought forth the ultimatum, he didn't really know where to go with it. And so, Adrian, for lack of anything better to say, decided to start off as simple as possible.

"Hey, uh... you feeling better?" Ohhh, nice, Adrian. Real smooth. Way to kick off the convo. Good thing you hadn't stormed off on her just a few minutes ago, or else that might be a decent conversation starter. Oh wait.

"Sorry for, uh, stripping you to your undies and putting you in bed, but I wanted to make sure you were comfy." Adrian frowned, unsure of what else to say at the moment. Awwkwaaard.

[Kate]

Well, way to apologize for something you pretty much did anyway. They were dating. They had slept together. What made him think that it would make her uncomfortable for? Well, besides the fact they had been pretty much screaming at each other a bit ago. Yeah, that might have made it a little awkward. Kate bit into her bottom lip, and stayed laying right where she was.

"I'm sorry Adrian."

She regretted it all. Regretted even bringing it up. It shouldn't have been such a big problem in the first place. Those emerald eyes looked away from him, not able to stare at Adrian for very long any more. It was hurting again, and frankly Kate didn't like that in the least bit. Why? Because then her eyes would start watering, and her throat would start burning and it would feel like she couldn't breath right. She hated that with a passion.

"I'm really sorry...."

[Adrian]

Kate finally spoke, managing to stick to the conversation at hand instead of scrawling around it like a pussy, like Adrian had done. When she spoke, he lowered his eyes, unable to meet her gaze, which was good, because it seemed she was in the same boat as she looked away as well. She was sorry? For what? For wanting more out of the relationship?

"No, no Kate. I am. You've got every right to want something out of me, I don't have the right to get so upset over it. If you want to talk about this, we should talk about it. Right here, and right now, now that we've both calmed down a lot."

He looked back up at her, waiting for her to meet his gaze again. Once she did, he would ask again, sincerely and honestly, keeping his calm much better than he had before.

"What exactly is going on, Kate?"

Vague, maybe, but he figured she knew exactly what he was talking about. The boy wasn't dumb, he'd noticed the change in her attire and demeanor as of late.

[Kate]

She hadn't wanted more out of the relationship. She had wanted what they had started with. That was what Kate desired, moments like the ones they had had when they first met. Lovey dovey was cute and good... but not what she wanted. She wanted spark, snap, that... connection.

"The first time we met... it was something I think I'll remember til I start forgetting my name. I had never met anyone like you. I had never met a man who had matched me so well, who played my game not by my rules but rather by the games' rules. Fair ground, and it was exciting... even later when you were my slave... That was rather enjoyable because it was you."

She was trying to explain it as well as she could, with her thought process that had led up to that moment. The girl looked at him, and then away again. This was hard, her heart was still heavy with everything he had said. Hard words to wash from your mind.

"It just seemed that after you came back... that everything was sweet, and loving and... I'm sorry darling, bland. Perfect and cozy like stepford wives or something. Like we lost what had attracted us to each other in the first place..."

Well, at least it was out now.

[Adrian]

Adrian listened with a discerning ear. She spoke first about the time they met, an event that both held in high regard, for sure. He smiled a little nostalgically as she recalled the events when they had only recently met, remembering the ways he used to be. Was he so different now? Perhaps, yes, but not that much, right?

He thought about what she had to say next, with just a little bit of disdain, despite himself. When she finished, he paused a moment before responding.

"Yeah, okay, Kate, sure I see where you're coming from, but, still, what the fuck?" Certainly, it was an obscenity, but he didn't raise his voice or say it TOO accusingly. "I mean, when you put it out in the open like that, you don't give me too many options, huh? Put up or shut up, right?"

Adrian smirked, leaning back.

"Pssh," he went on, raising an eyebrow at her, propping his elbow up on her desk, "Cuz if THAT'S all it takes to keep you around, babe, then I guess that's just a 'sacrifice'," he said, quoting the last word with just a hint of mockery, "that I'm gonna have to make, eh?"

Adrian shook his head, laughing a little, somewhat at Kate and somewhat at the situation itself. He supposed he had been a little over-kosher with the girl, but, c'mon, he'd just been kidnapped. He thought he wouldn't get a chance to see her again at all. Can you blame the guy?

[Kate]

Well, yeah. He had been a little overwhelmed a bit. So maybe she hadn't been that understanding. Which of course where her current form of thinking, meant she was going to mentally beat herself up a bit more.

So she was pretty silent, didn't know what to say or what exactly to do. So she sat up, noting that a lot of her muscles were rather sore. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and flung the blanket away from her person. Steady steps to her closet to pull out something to wear. Simple pair of jeans and a light, baggy t-shirt. Yes, even Kate had those. They were good for moments like these.

But she was silent, the blonde didn't know what to say. At least for a few moments, then she figure something out.

"I was really wound up from the bar. I'm sorry, I should have waited before talking to you."

[Adrian]

"You could also try, oh, I'unno, not going to the bar to get your kicks, pun intended," Adrian said with another smirk. He watched Kate arise from the bed, clad in just a bra and panties.

"Hey, no need to get dressed on my account, sweetheart," Adrian said with a shrug. "I mean, if you're feeling like we're not on equal ground..."

Adrian threw off his tanktop, exposing his muscular chest, and as Kate got up to grab some clothes, he hopped from the chair onto the bed, his hands behind his back, looking up at her from his new perch.

"Look, Kate," Adrian would start up again, going back from sly and joking to serious in an instant, "It's fine. It's good. I was just a little shook, still. It's not everyday you find yourself kidnapped and disowned by your own dad, right?" He smiled, and thought about it a second.

"Well, on second thought, with some of the crazies we go to school with, I wouldn't be so shocked to hear it..."

[Kate]

The blonde did get dressed, and not because she felt they were on unequal footing. The pale woman turned and looked at him. Damn, he was still probably one of the best eye candies there were around here. She had hooked a nice looking fish. She smiled, just a touch at his last comment. They did go to school with a bunch of crazies.

"I've been getting into fights a lot more often. Been running out of new faces to fight, new challenges because I've been beating the shit out of most of them..." when the challengers weren't feeling her up and causing her to doubt her relationship. That was another problem. She was starting to get a lot of attention from other guys. How to bring it up? She looked at him, and decided to be blunt. That was best right? Just to get it out?

"I've had a lot of guys pushing their advances hard, so I decided that the school campus wasn't the best place for me to be. Beating the shit out of some drunks was a good way of not getting felt up by someone who wasn't you."

[Adrian]

Adrian sat up in the bed, more at first to hear her tell her tale than for any other reason. As she spoke, she explained why she was fighting so much. Well, maybe not exactly why she was, but that she was. She said how she had been winning most of her fights, and needed to find new challengers.

"Well hey, y'know, I'm pretty sure that these days I could kick your-"

Adrian was cut off by what Kate said next, about other boys 'pushing their advances'. He'd never heard it worded like that, but his instinctive male tendencies told him all he needed to know: Other dudes were moving in on his turf. His eyes narrowed slightly as he regarded her, and changed his tone entirely, speaking in a rather cool, icy manner.

"Yeah? Names and detailed descriptions. Gimme a week, and I'll show 'em that it can be difficult to feel up other guys' girlfriends if you don't have hands."

The words themselves could've been a joke in any other tone, by any other person, but from the looks of the formerly wealthy teenager, it sounded like nothing short of a threat.

No, not a threat, a promise.

[Kate]

"Do you not think I can't handle myself? Look under, beat the hell up for descriptions." Well most of them. Some of them? She had been hard put to turn them away while he had been gone to be honest. Damn Russians. "I just wanted to let you know what was going on. To explain a bit more? I dunno..."

She walked over to him, leaning over him and his suddenly cold nature. The blonde leaned over, and pressed a sweet kiss on his forehead softly. The pale girl stayed there for a moment, a little afraid to press any more contact between the two of them after what had happened. Things looked like they were on the mend and getting better. Or at least she thought, but she didn't want to press anything just yet.

"You could just spend time with me all the time darling. Don't give them a chance to think about it maybe?"

That was a joke, said in a slightly silly voice. She was trying to tease him, but easing into that as well. It was like starting all over again with baby steps or something.

[Adrian]

"Oh, certainly you'd get tired of me after too long, though, wouldn't you babe?" Adrian's ice shattered, metaphorically speaking, especially as she mentioned being able to take care of herself. The boy was just a very protective boyfriend, and to hear that other guys were flirting with his girl? Yeah, that's not gonna make him happy.

Kate being there, on the other hand, did exactly the opposite. Even if they had just been fighting and shit. She placed a kiss on his forehead, and after he tilted his head up a bit to give on to her on her chin.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," he said, going back to the thing about the boys. "That's one thing I love about you, you're one of the few people who almost comes close to being as much of a badass as I am." He smirked, yawning a little. Watching her sleep had made HIM tired. "Almost."

He laughed, trying his best to bridge that gap that still seemed to be between them as of yet. "But you're gettin' there."

[Kate]

She chuckled, becoming more relaxed as she did so. This could get back to normal right? Normal would be good, even if it was the normal that she had gotten mad at having. She pressed another kiss to his forehead.

"I dunno love. I kind of remember beating your ass the first time we met, remember? Or should I refresh your memory?"

She was going to refresh his memory on a couple different numbers, if a bit slowly. One hand smoothed his hair and she smiled down at him softly. Kate wanted this to work, oh how she wanted this to work. She needed Adrian, needed him.

"I can refresh your memory on a couple of points if you'd like."

At that she'd press her lips to his softly, emerald eyes fluttering shut for the few seconds that she kissed him. She pulled back, and smirked just a touch to wonder what was going through his mind at this moment.

[Adrian]

Adrian smirked at her remark, shaking his head subtly as she spoke what she did. "I dunno, Kate," he would speak back, quietly, just above a whisper, "I seem to remember letting you win."

She kissed him, and his lips fluttered over hers as she did, taking in the softness of it with a smile. His eyes closed for a moment, and she pulled away, asking if he needed a reminder of that, or anything else. In reply, Adrian leaned his head forward, taking her lips in his with a kiss of his own, more passionate and forceful than Kate's had been only a moment prior. After they kissed for a moment, he pulled his head back, his hand remaining at the side of her face.

"You're right, Kate, I'm gonna have to be reminded. My memory must just be all fuzzy."

He grinned, and before she could reply he'd pull her into yet another kiss, just as warm as before.
