Sara sat in the shade of the large tree in the courtyard. She sighed looking around, and then pulled her knees up to her chest, hugging them. She had opted for just sweat pants and a loose t-shirt today. She probably looked like shit, she had made no effort to look good today. She didn't see the point.
She didn't know why she was here. Travis had just left her the other night... The burns on her chest and ankle were killing here... But she couldn't stay at home. She had no intention of going to class though. She had just needed to get out of that house. It was so quiet without Travis...
Travis... She didn't want to think of him. Where the hell was everyone? She wanted someone to talk to, someone to make her laugh, and forget about her problems for a little while. She had accepted the break up... She needed to get over it now. She dropped her head onto her knees. God.. She felt like such a depressing person right now...

As James made his way through the hallway he had one thing on his mind. Sam... he had been nearly obsessed with the girl. But not in a creepy stalker way, but in a total sweetheart way. In fact, he also had food on his mind. He had gotten hungry and was going to head to the food... mmm food. But then he got sidetracked by seeing Sara, at least it looked like Sara, it was a smaller girl curling up in the shade of a tree, and he didn't know exactly what she was doing by herself alone like that, but at least she wasn't beating James up.
For once....
James walked over towards her as she looked sad. Maybe she had some bad food that morning, or maybe she had just had a hard time at home. God forbid somebody had been mean to her, some jerk of a guy hit her... that was probably it, some bastard hit her. That had to be it, there was no other explanation.
"Sara....." James said, kneeling down in front of her, looking at her and tilting his head to the left, almost like a confused dog, trying to figure out what was wrong, "What's up? Why so gloomy. Got a stomach ache or something?"

"Sara....."
At the sound of her name, Sara looked up, meeting the eyes of none other then James. He was kneeling in front of her, head tilted to the side. She momentarily forgot her problems as she stared at him. He looked so... cute... And Sara had a soft spot for cute things. But at the same time, she had the MOST insane urge to throw something at him.
"What's up? Why so gloomy. Got a stomach ache or something?"
O________________O
He was... so cute <333 Sara continued to sit there for a few seconds, a stunned look on her face. She was surprised to see him. How long had it been now? A while since she had last seen him. And at the same time, she was actually happy to see someone. Anyone. And James seemed like one of the better people. Nice, kind... He made her laugh when he was injured... >_>"
She shifted to the side to make some room for him to sit next to her. "No, just had a really rough couple days..." She looked at him, a light coming to her eyes. Maybe he had something to do to keep her busy? A smile lit up her face. She was happy to see him. "How have you been? What are you doing right now? Something interesting right...?"

"No, just had a really rough couple days... How have you been? What are you doing right now? Something interesting right...?" She asked, scooting over to make room for him. He sat to her left so his right side faced her. He looked over at her smiling suddenly, and she seemed rather interested in his day, which wasn't that exciting. In fact it was extremely dull, but that didn't stop him from being sarcastic about it.
"Oh you know it," He said, "First I'm going to go brave the cafeteria food, nothing more exciting then guessing what the secret ingredient to the meatloaf surprise is. Then I'm going to play a game of 'what is stuck in my teeth' followed by 'whose hair is this in my jello'. I figure it'll be like the price is right except there really is no winning these games. Makes them a little more challenging, you know?"
He smiled over at her and said, "So, rough days huh? Tell me about it. Man I stubbed my toe this morning and I just knew my week was going to be horrible from there! So here I am, about to gamble my life by consuming the school provided lunch. I figure if it tastes bad enough I'll show up to work without a hard hat, see if that makes life a little more interesting. Always the chance a steal beam will land right on my empty eye socket, then I'll finally know that I was meant to be a cyclops. How about you? Any big plans?"

She smiled. A real smile. Of course she did. It made her want to die. She was trying to be sad, and here he was, all up in her space making her smile and giggle. Where did he get off doing this? She blushed, turning away from him as she tried to hide her smile. But she was glad he had shown up. She appreciated his talkative nature. It made it all seem a little better, and he was funny to. She tried to remember if she had had any real conversations with him, and sadly, she didn't think she had.
"You know the lunch lady will murder you if she hears you talking like that eh? I heard she's a ninja, better be careful." She laughed again, looking at him. Every school had rumors about the lunch ladies. This one was no different, except that it might actually be true in a school like this.
"And no, no big plans sadly. Everything kinda went out the window for me, so I got nothing now." A sad smile touched her lips and she dropped her head again. This was hard for her. What she was about to do kill her, smashed her ego into little itty bitty pieces and made her feel very... scared. "Mind if I tag along... to the cafe I mean...?" She wondered why every time she had to ask something like that, she always worried they would turn her away. If they did, what was the big deal? Did it really matter? Her mind seemed to scream that it did...

"You know the lunch lady will murder you if she hears you talking like that eh? I heard she's a ninja, better be careful." James thought about this, and while the heavy set lady with the mole on her face looked dangerous, he hardly thought she was a ninja of all things. Perhaps a sumo wrestler....
"I guess I'll have to keep one eye open at all times," James said almost half heartedly as he thought about the sumo wrestling lunch lady. The jokes just came naturally to him now like second nature, almost half assed in the delivery.
"And no, no big plans sadly. Everything kinda went out the window for me, so I got nothing now. Mind if I tag along... to the cafe I mean...?" She said, and he couldn't help but notice how she seemed somewhat sad. He wasn't used to it, so he got a serious look on his face, like he was trying to act tough or cool. And he leaned in narrowing his eyes looking into hers.
"Ok... but if the lunch lady really is a ninja... it's your job to watch my left side, alright?" He said and got up to his feet holding his right hand out to her, "Come on! I'd race you there but I'd probably trip, fall, and hurt myself. Besides, when your in a sad mood I don't get beat up. I hate to see you sad like this, but I can't deny the wonders it's doing for my health!"
He laughed a little bit hoping to cheer her up. Once she stood up he'd lead the way to the cafeteria.

Sara leaned away slightly as he got close to her, looking all serious. She couldn't hold his gaze, and he eyes flickered away from him as she pushed against the tree. She wasn't afraid of him, but she was scared that he was going to turn out to be like... psychic or something, and know just from looking at her what was wrong.
And then he made a joke. A sigh of relief and she giggled nervously. It was funny. She liked that he could joke about the eye patch thing... The jokes were actually funny, and there was none of that fear of offending him. He stood up and she took the hand her offered her, limping slightly on her injured ankle. After a rough night of pain in her chest and ankle, the pain was finally hitting. It wasn't numb anymore from the burn, but extremely painful.
She hissed in a breath as she put her weight on the ankle, hoping he didn't notice, and tried to turn it into a laugh. Even putting weight on the ankle, the skin stretching even the smallest bit, hurt like a bitch. "You just have really bad luck when you're around me, that's all."
Now... The hard part. To walk like it wasn't hurting her. Which was hard, because she limped slightly, meaning she hunched over, meaning the burn on her chest was hurting. It was a lose/lose situation. Once she was on her feet she took a deep breath, hands on her knees then stood straight, taking a few tentative steps forward. Stopping, she looked at him. "Ok... Um..." Big smiles.... Think big happy smiles... "How about, I just wait here for you?.." She laughed nervously. She didn't want to have to tell him it was to much work to walk to the cafeteria, but it was pretty obvious something was up.
