I feigned a gasp. "Sam, young lady we are at a restaurant. How can you say things like that?" I kept the performance going as I pulled out a pen from my coat and scribbled something down on a napkin. "Such things are meant to be reserved for non-social situations. Never forget your manners young lady." I scolded as I pushed the napkin to her face down.
I doubt our lunch will last very long.
I would give her a wide, sly grin as she looked at the napkin, amused with not only myself, but the situation in general. Life was looking up.
Could this be the day I've waited for-
When all my hard work doesn't go ignored.
Maybe she was right, they will realize I can change this world-
Ope- Wait, were we just doing a duet...?
We WERE... asshole... I love that song.

Sam tried hard to hide her smile. She tilted her head, frowning playfully at him. "But doesn't the word 'social' come from the Latin word for friend? Which - and correct me if I'm wrong - we agreed that we are, yes? So... would you rather I not said it?" She picked up the napkin, and her grin widened. She reached out for his pen, and assuming he handed it to her, would write a reply of her own on the napkin.
Should we make it to go?
She played his game, pushing it toward him, face down as he had done, and watched him for a reaction. If he looked up at her, she'd be grinning widely, a playful spark dancing around her eyes. She was thoroughly enjoying herself. She'd completely forgotten how nervous she was just a little bit ago, wondering about all the awful ways this conversation could have gone. But now? She was having a ball. She didn't need an extravagant time to have this much fun. Just a simple running joke like this one was good enough for her.

With a grin, I looked from the napkin to her, smirking. I didn't give her a written reply, but instead, I gave her a little shake of the head 'no.' I paired it with a wide smile, letting her know it wasn't a bad idea, but I was fucking hungry... I was very interested in the thought of some choice Italian food.
"Now now, be patient." I winked. "Good things come to those who wait. Very good things." I said, leaning forward a bit.
I wondered how long a back and forth like this would continue- I wondered how long she would push the verbal envelope, the way I had pushed the physical envelope the other night.
Such fun was in store.

She smirked at him. Yeah... food would probably be a good idea first. She was hungry, and even though she didn't crave her comfort food anymore - at least for now - that panini was sounding really good.
"Very good things, hmm?" She said, leaning her chin on her hand. "I guess I'll just have to be patient, then..." She gave a purposefully overdramatic sigh.
She could be patient. Truth was, she was still a little nervous. As much as she enjoyed the evening they'd spent at the Court, it was, up to this point, the farthest she'd ever gone with a guy. It scared and excited her, but she was still anxious about the whole thing. She still had her boundaries, and if he wanted to go farther than she was comfortable with... She just didn't want to be the one to make things awkward.
