He expected rejection. After all, why shouldn't he? But, it seems it wasn't because of him. He didn't know who Pine was, because Bix said that she had no friends, at least besides Connor. However, it was Liberty who had Pine, Connor who Liked Bix. Histories most complex triangle ever. Bix started to walk again, and Connor did his best to smile. After all, he had prepared himself for her response. That didn't mean it didn't hurt.
"That's alright. I understand." He tried to salvage the night at least. "Well, it doesn't have to be a date. We could just go as friends." He smiled at her. He still wanted her company. When timing was better, he'd try again. "We can do that, right?" So long as she agreed to that, he figured he could take the initial rejection.
They still headed back to his place, Suichi greeting them again. He seemed to half expect her here, and showed her the same warm welcome as before.
"I assume the rain was enjoyable?"
"Yes, sensei. Sorry about the floor."
"Never you mind. You should both change before you get sick. I'll take care of the floor."
"Sensei? Bix and I are going to go and get some food after we change. So long as you didn't cook anything."
"That is fine. I was planning on the leftovers from last night, so nothing fresh. If you do have Bix over for dinner here, let me know first. That way, I can prepare something."
"Hai. Thank you sensei!"
With that, Connor got himself changed. He grabbed a light jacket, plain -shirt, khakis, socks and sneakers. He left his cane behind, as he did his shades and gloves, which were on the table by the door. As Bix joined him, Suichi called out to them.
"Have fun, and be careful. Oh! Connor, your glasses and gloves."
Connor thought for a second. Then smiled. "That's alright. I don't need them right now." He turned to Bix. "Ready?"
They headed out, and Connor asked Bix where she wanted to go. Just to pick a spot, if she knew one. Otherwise, they'd find something. Suichi watched them go from the window. A smile spread across his own face. "So, that is why he leaves them behind." He closed the shade, and returned to his book.

Friendship && companionship Bix waited patiently. While Connor. Was down the hall. Changing. And talking. To his sensei. Her eyes. Looked around the house. There were a few pictures. There on the wall. Of a younger Connor. With a smile. On his face. And the same blank. Green eyes. That he had always had. She could understand. Though that. Suichi. Felt as though. He was Connor's father. And probably. For all intents. And purposes. He was. She knew that. Connors life. Before Suichi. Had been horrible. As horrible likely. AS her own. But at least. He had a place to go. Someone to take. Him in. And that. Was what made him lucky. She wished that. She had. Her own place to go. When Connor. Was done. Dressed in. A tshirt, khakis. And a coat. She rose. Moving to the door. But leaving. Her bag behind. With all her things. She knew. That they would. Be coming back. Whether she was able. To use. The guest room. Once more. Or not. Was up to them. But regardless. It would be find. She just. Did not want to. Carry around. all her things. For no reason. Suichi of course. Might notice. That she had. Dark circles. Around her eyes. From lack of sleep. And was a bit shakey. From lack of food. But connor. Said he was going. To feed her. So at least one. Problem would be solved. Connor and Bix. Left the house. With Suichi. Asking Connor. Not to forget. His glasses. And his gloves. Yet he deemed himself. Unneeding. Of these assistances. And her hand. Came up. Taking his arm. Clasping it. Gently. She hated. To have heard. The rejection. In his voice. And to have seen it. In his face. When she said. She was not. Ready for any. sort of thing like that. a date. Would lead to. Other things. And besides. She did not. Want to lead him on. When Liberty. Was so into PIne. And yet. Neither of them. Knew what it was. That would be. Happening between. The two of them. Pine and Liberty. He told her. That she should pick. Whatever it was. That she wanted. To go eat. She knew. That he would probably. Be happy. With anything. That she picked. Bix had lately. Begun to really. Enjoy Italian food. And there was. A great place. That was not too far. And she figured. They could go there. And it would not. Be too expensive. It was not a fine. Restaurant. But something. That would be like. A spaghetti house. That would have. Decent food. For decent prices. Her eyes. Looked up at him. "Not far, from this current place we walk. A business, Limp Noodle, called it is. Humorous, it is in name, delicious it is in food. Decent the prices are, there we, can go." Bix had them. Take a right. To begin. Heading in the. Right direction. Because she knew. That he had never. Been there. And she wanted. To make sure. He did not feel. As though it was his. Responsibility. To get her. There. Bix looked up. At Connor. And she took in. His face. He seemed. To be fine. Once more. She hoped. That he was. "Tell me then, something there is, you perhaps, might enjoy to experience after we find sustenance?" Bix inquired. "No place, I have to go. Time, I have in plenty. If wish for something, you do."

Though his face hid the rejection, and happier emotions took over, his heart still held the twang it had received. But, he tried not to think about it, and only enjoyed her company as was the present. She led the way, having suggested a place he hadn't been before. As he was new to the school and the city, this wasn't a bad idea, letting her take the lead.
Now, some boys might take her question in a twisted way. What would most like to experience after taking a girl out to dinner? But, Connor was not exactly that type. He thought, and smiled. "Well, if you're not too tired, you could start teaching me." They had discussed him learning witchcraft a bit ago, but never had the time then to start. Now was as good a time as any.
They arrived, and the place was small and quaint. Best of all, the atmosphere was quiet. Very good for Connor. The smell of the food was great, and Connor felt his stomach growl. They were seated, and given menus. Connor just asked if they had an item or two, and when Bix confirmed they did, he made a selection. Dinner was shared, with little needing to be said. Connor paid for everything at the end, and then they headed back.
Upon arriving, Suichi greeted them both with a smile both on his face, and in his voice. "Ah, you two are back. I hope dinner was enjoyable." He let them in, and closed the door behind them. Suichi had been busy, but Bix and Connor had yet to find that out.
"Bix... I would like to share a few words with you, if that is alright." He looked to Connor. "Connor, if you would, please wait in your room for a bit, and play some music."
Connor was confused. But, the tone of Suichi held deep meaning, and Connor never argued with the man who he respected. "Yes, sensei." He left the two alone, and when the music started, Suichi knew he could begin.
He walked over to the mantle, where the pictures were. A young smiling red haired boy was there, one of his favorites. "Bix, please sit down. Make yourself comfortable. Though, I have a feeling comfort doesn't come easy for you." His voice was tender, and full of wisdom, caring, and understanding. "I came to this country many years ago, and was alienated for being from another country. America was supposed to hold promise, and after time, it did. But, at first, things were very difficult."
He chuckled. "But, this is not why I asked to speak to you. I actually wanted to thank you." He could see the girl was confused. Suichi tapped the photograph. "This is why. I think you should know about the boy you befriended. Now, he did tell me you two talked, and that he told you about his mother and a bit about his past. Oh, don't worry. He didn't tell me anything of yours. He said it wasn't his place to tell me, and you told him in confidence. I didn't pry."
"Anyway, when Connor's mother passed away, he was left in my care as per her will. I met his mother and spoke with her a few times. After all, Connor was my student. It was a last minute change to her will, should anything happen to her. Perhaps she knew her fate beforehand. Such things have happened." He sighed. "It was painful for him. But, he managed. Connor was the recipient of a large inheritance, thanks to his mother and father's work. That is why he took you out. That money is a reminder of that loss, and he wants nothing to do with it. He would spend it all on someone else before he spends more than absolute necessity on himself."
He place the photo on the table. "Anyway, we ended up moving, and he attended a public school. It was riddled with violence. Connor fell into a role of a defender. He wanted to protect those that were thought weak. He did well. He had made a few friends, but nothing lasting. More like brief meetings with people. But, he held a voice. He wanted to stop the gang wars, make the school safe. You saw the scars on his hands. You didn't see the one on his ribs."
He sighed, the memory of the hospital visit form that day a bit unnerving. "Connor was attacked. He was crucified, quite literally, by the leader of one of the most vicious gangs in that school. They wanted to make Connor an example. Turn him into a martyr." He shook his head. "For high school students to be capable of such violence in them was too much. When he healed, we moved out here. I thought he would turn bitter. Close off his heart. Instead, he didn't let it change him. Then he met you."
He smiled. "Bix, since that attack, he has never once taken off those gloves, except to sleep. He also never leaves the house without his sunglasses. That is, not until tonight. Something about you struck him. I even caught him humming and dancing in his room. When we talk about his day, or about things in general, he lights up when you get brought up. He doesn't even realize he does it."
He chuckled. "I am only telling you this to make you aware of something about yourself. Something you might not know. You have a wonderful soul. Though, it is very torn. I know not of your past, but there are things I do see and know. For instance, I can tell you have slept little in the past few days. I also know you have endured hardship that would destroy most. Yet, you endure. You are strong, yet you are also vulnerable. Hard to trust others."
He smiled again. "Know you have done well for that boy, and you have earned my thanks. Connor is much like a wolf. He is fiercely loyal, will do what he can to protect those around him, and let's his instincts guide him. He cherishes you. And he has told me he thinks you will help him on his path. That is a relief as well. he has searched long, and found you. I don't know much about witchcraft, though I don't have anything against it. If it will help him and you find your way, then it is not a bad path to follow."
He motioned for her to follow him. "I know Connor made the offer, but I am not sure he was clear." He led her to the room, the one she slept in. Things were different. There was her bag, open but the contents not disturbed. There was a shelf on the wall, and another larger bookshelf along one wall. There were candle holders, black metal and on the dresser a cloth, and an incense burner.
"You are welcome here, Bix. Whenever, and for however long you need. my only request is that you don't hurt the boy next door. Now, I am not saying you need to marry him. Just don't betray him." He smiled. "I don't see that happening." With that, he left her to her devices, but not before turning one last time. "If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to knock on my door." With those final words, he left her to her room.
Yes... her room.

Knowledge && Acceptance Dinner. Had been great. Very tasty. Very quick. And there was. A bit of conversation. But not too much. though neither. Seemed to suffer. All that much. From a bit of silence. The walk there. And back. Was spent. Quietly. Bix would speak. When there was. Soemthing in his way. And she had pulled him back. As car. Rushed passed. When they. Were in. An animated discussion. About witchcraft. And where. She wanted. To start him. With his relationship. With the Goddess. The car. Had come. Out of no where. And with her hand. Being on his arm. She pulled him back. Quickly. So that he would not. Get clipped by. The car. Returning home. They stepped inside. And Suichi. Had waited. For them. Immediatly. Bix noticed. Her bag. Was not where. She had left it. And panic. Rocked her system. As to where. Everything had gone. He asked. For Connor. To go into his room. And to play. Some music. Connor asked not. What ws going on. Instead. He disappeared. Down the hall. Leaving Bix. Standing there. Before his sensei and father. he asked her then. To have a seat. And she moved. Across the living room. And sat down. On the couch. Where she had sat. Before. When she was waiting. For Connor. When Suichi spoke. Bix listened. Her arms. Folded across her chest. One tight covered leg. Crossing the other. Her body. Rigid. And her eyes. Untrusting. But as he spoke. Her demanor. Did not change. Father figures. Were not her thing. She hated her father. And he hated her. And she hated. The maker that. Had created that man. And the fact. That no one. Could save her from him. That he was her father. And that it mattered not. What he did. Because in the end. He had her mother. And two sons. That would vouch. It was her fault. She had hurt herself. Another way. he told her. About connor. Reitterating. The many things. That she already. Knew about. The boy. And he told her. That he knew. Nothing of her. That Connor. Had told Suichi. It was not his place. To tell her past. Something that. Bix was very glad of. Because she wished. Not for. The world to know. What was going on. In her life. He told her. About the crucifiction. And about. HOw there was a scar. On his ribs. From another blow. That he did not. Tell her about earlier. Bix listened. Her eyes were blank. But her mind. Was already moving. At a quick pace. Her thoughts collecting. And taking in. All the information. She could. When Suichi explained. That Connor never. Removed the gloves and glasses. Ever. Unless. He was sleeping. That was. Until he had. Met Bix. Her eyes flashed. Only for a moment. In shock. That she. This girl. This witch. The one that favored. The color blue. Probably a bit too much. Could have. Such an effect. On a boy. That was so good. So very. Boy next door. All American. She was surprised. That he condoned. Witchcraft. Many shunned it. Not understanding. Exactly what it was. And what. It could be. How it was not. What many believed. And yet. It could be so much more. To someone. That was willing. To believe. In her. Suichi asked her. To rise. And she did so. Following him. Her arms. Wrapped around. Her torso. AS she walked. Down the hall. And to the room. That she had. Stayed in earlier. There were. Fresh sheets. On the bed. A turned down bed. Waiting. And inviting. On the bed. Was her bag. Open as she had. Left it. All her things. Inside. The dresser. Was standing tall. Several metal candleholders. There on it. Waiting for. The candles that. She tended to carry. And then. A metal tray. For her incense. Also.. a black. Velvet cloth. Her eyes darted. Around the room. AS he mentioned. That Connor. Had told her. That she could stay. When she wanted. And yet. She had not. Taken him. to heart. So now. Suichi mentioned. She could stay. When she wanted. The only thing. To do. Was not. To harm the heart. Of the boy next door. "Never dream, to harm a soul, pure as his, would I." As Suichi left. Bix. Stepped into. The guest room. Moving to her bag. She looked through it. And yet. She could not. Bring herself. To put. Anything on the shelf. Or to burn her incense. Or to light her candles. Creating wax puddles. On the candle sticks. That sat there. On the dresser. She pulled. Out of her bag. The paper. Covered book. And she crossed. Back. To his room. Seeing connor there. On his bed. Listening to music. So obediant he was. Raising a hand. She knocked. Gently upon. The door frame. Calling attention. To herself. "Gift, I have for you." Bix stated, as she entered. The room. Crossing over. To him. And sitting. On the bed. Facing him. She handed. Him the book. Wrapped in paper. And written in braile. Once the paper. Was gone. A witchcraft book. "My favorite, it is. The one I use the most. To start with, perfect, I believe."

Suichi knew the girl was not one to trust easy. He didn't expect her to have warm words for him. He didn't let it effect how he treated her. She had done for Connor what no one else could, and for that, he wanted her to know she was welcome to stay. Permanently. Free of rent. But, he was not clear, and as he thought about it, he began to write on a piece of paper the actual meaning of stay here however long and whenever you want. As she went to Connor, he stuck it with a piece of tape on the door.
Bix. This room is yours. You may not think it, but you are welcome. You are accepted here. This is your room. Free room and board. Just remember what I asked of you, and what you told me. That is payment enough.
Suichi
He hoped she'd get it then. But, that was to be seen. For now, he let the children talk. If they required him, he would respond. For now, he retired to his room.
Connor was listening to the same song he danced to with Bix. It was not the first song he had played, and he wasn't expecting her to knock on his door. But, when she broke into his concentration (or his musical daze), he jumped. Hearing her voice, he stumbled, turning the music off so he could give her his full attention. His face was red. He didn't trip in his own home. He knew the layout. But, it was rare to catch him off guard.
"A g-gift? For me? But... I didn't do anything." The only one who ever gave Connor a gift before was Suichi. He never had another give him something for nothing. Yet, here was Bix, presenting him with something not easy to come by. He tore the paper at the place it was attached, and his fingers slid over the small bumps that told him the title.
She explained, and Connor's mouth dropped. He knew how hard it was to special order braille, not to mention how expensive it was if there wasn't already a print of one out. "Bix, you didn't have to... this is..." He smiled. He faced her, his eyes almost looking like they held all of his emotion. If they truly could look into the soul, she would have seen gratitude and happiness.
"Thank you. This... you're the first person who ever got me a gift before. Except for Suichi, anyway. This means a lot to me." He held the book like it was the most precious thing to him, and right now, it was. It was almost as precious to him as she was. "I wish I had something to give you." All the confidence he appeared to have was, in fact, bravado. His confidence had been shattered, and was only there when he had to fight. In a one on one conversation, he was one of the most gentle people around.

Surprise && Touched As her knock. Came into the. Room. He heard it. And yet seemed. Unprepared. For her visit. For he jumped. Quickly up. Off the bed. Stumbling. Over towards. His stereo. So that the music. Could be turned down. It was the first. Time that she had ever. Seen him stumble. He was very good. At getting around. For someone. That was completely. Blind except. In the rain. Her eyes watched. As his face. Turned a bright. And deep red. Knowing that. He was embarrassed. And yet. She did not. Know why. Why was it. That she had. This effect on him. She supposed that. It was something. That happened. When you were. Attracted to. Someone else. And yet. She could not. For the life of her. Figure out. Just why it was. He was attracted. To her. Afterall. She was strange. And she spoke strange. She dressed oddly. Nothing about her. In her mind. Was attractive. No one else. Certainly seemed. To believe so. Shocked. He seemed. At the mention. Of the gift. That she had. Gotten for him. It was only. A book. She saw nothing. All that special. About it. Nor did she believe. That it was anything. To be overly. Excited over. It was something. That he would need. If he was to. Try to take up. Witchcraftery. He claimed. That he had done. Nothing that. Would allow her. Such a gift. Her eyes. Watching him. As he seemed. To believe. That they. Were something. That needed. To be earned. "Need you, do something, to achieve a gift. Rewards, gifts are not always. Many times, kindness, gifts are." When the paper. Was torn. The gift was accepted. In her mind now. He ripped the paper. And placed it. To the side. Bix crossed. to it and placed it. Within the garbage can. So that he. Would not. Have to later. As his fingers. Brushed over. The title and. She listened. To the way that. He was gasping. Knowing that. It was not. A cheap book. But she had. Gotten some money. From Jeremiah. When he saved her. Or something. And so. She figured. She would spend it. On something that. Would be good. Something better. Than herself. For she did not. Deserve such. He faced her. Claming that. She did not. Have to get him. The book. "The best, it is. Study witchcraft you cannot, without the proper materials. Necesary it was, to your learning. Stated you did. Wished you have, to learn what knowledge, hold I do. This book, a tool it is." Thanking her. He seemed to. Over and over again. As though once. Was not enough. Describing. How only Suichi. Had ever gotten him. A gift and no one. Had ever thought. To gift him. Anything until. Today so that meant. That the gift. Touched him. In more ways. Than just a book. She wanted him. To really be able to study. Not just. Listen to what. She had to say. But also know. And read. And be able. To go back over. Things when. He had forgotten. It was a tool. That he would need. As she had stated. He began to mention. How he wished. That he had. Something he. Could give to her. And Bix blushed. This time. Unsure of why. She would need. Anything. "Gifting, both ways, it does not, have to be. My gift to you, a gift it is, from myself to you. Expect nothing, I do, in return." Bix moved. To the bed. And sat. Upon the cloth. Pulling her feet. Up sliding her shoes. Off. She sat. Crossing her legs. And facing him. On the bed. Fearing not. For the dress she wore. He would see nothing. "Start tomorrow, we can. Tonight, rest for us, cold rain it was. Rest we need, to keep from sickness. Music, we can listen to, bed time soon however. Tomorrow, teach you I will begin." Shifting. She lay down. On the bed. With enough room. So that he. could lay down. Beside her. When he turned. The stereo back on. She had not missed. That the song. Was the same. They had danced to. And it seemed. That Suichi was right. That Connor was telling. Her the truth. Afterall, the music. Was the same. They had danced. And somehow. It meant. A great deal. To the man. That was in. This room with her.

She didn't get it. But, then again, neither did he. Not fully, anyway. He knew now fully he liked her. Had admitted it to her, but knew it was deeper than what he had thought before. She didn't want anything in return, didn't seem like she needed anything from him, and it was given freely. He knew he would still do something for her. He still didn't know Suichi had given the room next door over to her. Bix didn't even know, as the paper hung there had not been seen or read by her, and would never be by Connor.
As for now, she settled on his bed, and said she would begin his lessons tomorrow. That excited him. He desired to learn. Knowledge was something that Connor knew could be powerful, and the boy was like a sponge with it. A dedicated student he would be, and Suichi could attest to that. For now, she told him they should rest, and music would be nice to relax to. As he got up to push play, his awareness of his surroundings much more certain than before, he could "see" where she had gotten herself comfortable.
His bed. Off to one side.
Connor had never shared his bed before. He knew this was a want of most boys his age, but for reasons far from innocent. Here, Connor didn't know what to do. He wanted to lie next to her, but he knew she was still not into physical contact. That, and he was not exactly a confident ladies man. He was about as smooth as sandpaper. He was also giving, and was more inclined to take the floor and give up his bed for someone else's sake of comfort.
The music was the same as they danced to the first night they had been here. It was soothing, relaxing, and held deep meaning for him, at least now thanks to her. He walked to the side of the bed, but hesitated from laying next to her, or even joining her. After a few moments, he did sit, but not cuddled up to her. No, there was space, between them. The bed wasn't huge, but two people could fit comfortably. Connor was nervous again, not knowing exactly how he should be right now.
"Yeah... it's been a long day. I am looking forward to tomorrow. Thank you again for everything."

Awkward && Unsure The music. Began again. And Bix's eyes. Closed. So that she might. Be able to. Enjoy it more. Knowing how much. That music. Could relax a soul. Especially one. Torn apart. In turmoil. Like her own. Bix had no place. To live. And she had. No place. To call home. And she had no one. To be there. For her. Connor had. Of course. Offered himself. And yet. She did not. Wish that. At least. Not yet. Bix wallowed. In her own. Lonliness. But not. Because. AS some might think. She enjoyed it. But because. She was afraid. Of opening herself. To things. That would harm her. It was difficult. For Bix. To let up. Her control. On herself. For she knew. She was the. Only thing she could. In fact control. Everything else. Was controled. By other things. Her emotions. And her body. Were hers alone to control. And Bix. Was not willing. To allow herself. To be vulnerable. Once more. To more inner pain. Than she already. Carried. Inside. Bix was a well. Of pain. Of rejection. Of judgement. And many other feelings. But overall. Pain was what. Filled her completely. Made her shut down. And become Bix. Liberty had once. Been a beautiful. Happy girl. However. Everything changed. And Bix had been born. To protect the fragile. Liberty from more. Harm. Creating walls. Around the pain. The well grows ever deeper. With every passing day. Even she. Can not fathom. How to. Get past it. How to push through the pain. How do you heal. From something. So terrible. And so amazingly cruel. How do you come back. From pain. That seems. To seep from your every pore. Connor seemed. Unsure. Of what. He should do. He stood there. At the edge. Of the bed. As though. He was unsure. If he wanted. Or wished to. Lay down. Bix was almost. About to get up. Fearful. That once more. She had done something. Wrong or. Touched. Something sacred. When he finally. Sat down. Compromising from. Her laying position. Her blue eyes. Looked up at him. As he sat there. Green eyes. Staring forward. As the song. Played. In the room. The waves boucning. Off everything. She wondered. If these sound waves. Could be like. Rain drops. Perhaps he could see. Now as well. But that. Would come. At a different time. She felt. That conversation. Was not important. At this moment. In time. "Comfortable, you should make yourself. If need be, move I will. For your room, and your bed it is." Bix waited. And if. Hopefully. When. He shifted. To lay down. She turned. On her side. Facing him. Her eyes closed. Listening. To the music. And enjoying. The soft sounds. As they reached. Her pale ears. And she enjoyed. The fact that. It was relaxing her. And allowing her heart. To slow. Her mind to ease. And Bix to relax. Which was not. An easy thing. To get the young. Witch to do. Because. They were so close. And nearly touching. Bix's forehead. Was close. To his shoulder. And so. When her eyes. Remained shut. And her breathing. Grew deep. The kind of breathing. Sleeping girls had. Her forehead. Softly touched his shoulder. Her hand. Had found it's way. Onto his arm. And there she slept. Curled up beside him. Barely touching. And yet. Touching him more. Than she ever had before. Except that night. When they danced.

Bix offered to move, but Connor had come down and laid beside her. The music did indeed make vibrations as all sound did. However, it was not as clear as the rain. Nothing was. Something about how drops of water from above landed softly on the objects and people below gave the clearest image to him. The sound here gave an image, but there was far less detail to go by.
Connor made himself comfortable, and he laid down on his side, facing her. She turned to him. He could feel her breath, smell it's sweet fragrance. He could hear how her heartbeat was slowing, and how her muscles relaxed. She was so close to him, and eventually came to rest her forehead on his shoulder. Her hand made it's way to his arm. It was like she wanted to know he was there, but had not said so. Almost as if she wanted contact with him.
He didn't move for some time. He just listened to the rhythmic sound of her breathing as she slept. He smiled, and blushed, even though she wouldn't see it. When he spoke, it was barely a whisper. He hoped, somehow it would reach her through her subconscious. "Bix... I'll always be her for you. I'll protect you. I promise." He gently brought his arm up, his hand finding her cheek, and stroked it softly. His fingers found her hair, and he ran them through it. It was a soothing motion, and he listened again to her breathing, which still seemed relaxed.
Connor's breathing slowed, and he eventually fell asleep as well. Suichi had peeked in on them, and as he walked away from the door, he chuckled. It was a cute sight, and his aged eyes were pleased to see his student at peace. Bix seemed it as well, though he couldn't be sure if it was simply because they were sleeping. Inner turmoil does occasionally leave you during slumber.
The note was still attached on her door. He had a strong feeling she didn't have many places to go. Why else would she carry a bag with her belongings? It wasn't just like a school bag after all. He hoped she would accept the offer. It might help to ease her pain, and he knew having her around would help Connor. After all, she already had, even if it wasn't on purpose.

Dawn && Dreams The stroke. Through her hair. Was what. Made her breathing. Falter for. Just a moment. comfort. Had not. Been part. Of her life. For a very. Long time. And so the touch. Paused her breathing. And yet. when it began. Once more. She was even more. Relaxed than before. And she slept there. Unaware. That he too. Was falling asleep. And that he was. Not going to move. Instead. He was going to. Stay there. Letting her. Touch him. Through the night. That they would sleep. AS the music played. And at some point. The CDs would. Run out of songs. And the room. Would grow quiet. The glow. Of the stereo screen. Was all. That offered light. To the pair. When morning came. The rain had gone. And the clouds with it. The sunlight. Moved through. The windows. Waking Bix gently. As she felt it. Upon her eye lids. Her eyes opened. And there Connor lay. Sleeping peacefully. Her head. Touching him. And her hand. Touching him. He slept there. Bangs in his face. His body. Rising and falling. With every breath. Bix's eyes. Were always somewhat. Unguarded. In the morning. When she first woke. Just because. She had not yet. Thrown up. All her walls. Gently. She moved back. From the boy. Beside her. And rose. Moving across the room. She headed. Into the hall. And back where. Her things had been stored. Pausing. At the door. Because of a note. She took it. From the wood. And read it. With her blue eyes. Over and over. Her eyes poured. Over the document. In her hand. Tears coming. Unbidden. To her blue eyes. As she stood there. Reading it. Tear drops. Fell. From her cheeks. And pitter pattered. On the table. .. 2.. 4.. 5.. before she. Was able. To stop them. Her eyes. Went blank again. But. It was easy to know. At least to her. That this note. Had touched her. New light. Seemed to shine. In this home. That seemed. Now was her own. She stepped. Into her own room. It was.. boring. But she. Would never say. A thing. For it was a gift. She never expected. And one. She would not. Deserve. Moving. To her bag. She gently. Pulled out. Some of. Her clothing. And she put them. In the drawers. There was. A lot more. At the station. She switched out. From time to time. When she had to. But still. It would be best. To bring it here. She went to her bag. And took out. The books. She never left. anywhere. And placed them. On the empty bookshelf. Which still. Looked empty. But perhaps. It would be better. When she got her bags. From the station. Pulling out. Her most prized possession. A stuffed cat. Of a purple color. With it's lips. Made of crosses. And well made. By her own hand. Inside. Was a crystal. That gave it. A soul. At least. What the books said. Was a soul. And it was. Her first friend. And the one. Held the longest. Bix hugged. Vinchento to her chest. Kissing the top. Of his chest. She placed him. In the center of her bed. And then. Moved to. The windows. They were.. facing the sun. Which was. Very bad for her. Wincing heavily, she drew away. From them. She was going to have to. Get some covers. Neither of them. Knew of her condition. So she moved quickly. Back to the shaded. POrtion of her room. And sat. In the chair. Looking at. The barren room. waiting for something. To happen. And yet. She felt so un home. It was not. That she was a stranger. but that it was new. And she felt. A stranger still. Even if. She didn't want to. She wished to fit in. And perhaps. In a few days. She would. Bix picked up. One of her well worn. Well loved. Books. And w hile the house slept. She began. To read.

Though he felt her leave, he didn't move. He didn't show he was awake, either. He could feel it was morning. The many hours passed and he had laid there, with her, asleep. It was a first for him, and even though they hadn't held one another, there was contact throughout the night. That was more than he would have expected with her. Her hand had been soft and smooth, a nice feeling to his skin. He hoped one day he might get to hold her, that she would let him, and know she was safe in his arms. He would keep her from harm. As for now, he just enjoyed having another special moment with her.
He could hear her shuffling around in the room next door. Was she... unpacking? It sounded like dresser drawers were being open. But, another sound and smell as well got his attention. There was a sizzle, and the sound of pans being moved around.
Breakfast.
Connor would have gotten up, but something kept him in bed. Her side, where she slept. It held her scent, that of her natural one, and the ginger. It was faint, but there. And her side was still warm. Connor was a little silly at times, and this might be one of them. He inhaled deeply, and smiled thee in his bed.
Suichi was busy in the kitchen. He had checked on the teens about a half hour ago, and they were still asleep. he had not disturbed them, and instead went to cook for them. He didn't know aside from Connor taking her out when the last decent meal had been in front of the girl. He had made some eggs, toast, and pancakes. It was a simple breakfast, nothing lavish. But there was plenty to go around. Bacon even sizzled on the griddle.
He heard the room that was now Bix's being tended to. He smiled. As breakfast was basically done, and needed little tending to, Suichi dried his hands, and went to check on her. He peeked in, and saw her sitting in the darkest part of the room. He gave her a small bow. "Konichiwa, Bix-san." He squinted himself. It was awful bright in here. His years had given him wizdom, and he was very observant. He saw the note gone, and had even noticed the small droplets of water on the table. He smiled.
"Good to see you are up. Breakfast is ready when you are." He glanced around the room again. "Feel free to decorate the room how you wish. If you need anything to do so, or any help, let me know." He smiled and bowed. "I know it might have seemed sudden, but I am glad you have accepted. There is a spare key in the top drawer of the nightstand. It will unlock the front and back doors. You have no curfew, and need no worry about disturbing anyone here."
With that, he turned to head out of the room. He paused at the door frame. "Welcome home, Bix-san." With that, he went to check on Connor, who had been listening the whole time. Even if he hadn't wished to do so on purpose, he would have picked up the whole conversation. When Suichi entered his room, he found Connor with an almost deliriously happy expression, facing the older man. The smile couldn't have been slapped off his face.
He was still hesitant, though. Maybe he had understood wrong. He started to ask. "Sensei, is Bix... is she really..."
Suichi nodded. "Yes, Connor-san. It seems so."
Connor couldn't contain his excitement. He tried, but there was joy bursting within him. "YES!!!!" He realized it might have been a bit loud, and much too late, that Bix could probably hear everything as well. His face changed, and turned crimson. "Um, I mean, that is great... I... I hope she likes it here."
Suichi chuckled. He turned to leave. "Connor-san... when you finish doing a dace of joy, breakfast will be on the table for you both."
He left, and Connor sat on his bed, too embarrassed to leave. "Great... if she didn't think I was weird before, that had to do it." He shook his head. "I am such a dork." He said those words as he buried his face under his pillow.

Acceptance && Excitement Footsteps. In the hallway. And she could smell. Breakfast cooking. Moments before. She had not. Had a full meal. In a while. Until Connor took her out. Last night. Instead. She ate. A bit here. And there. From vending machines. At the train station. Or a fast food. Restaurant. It was the best. For her at. The moemnt. Regardless of what. She thought. she had. Nothing else. That she could do. No home. To go to. any longer. Her eyes. read over. The book. The sunlight. Would reach. This spot later. It seemed her room. Would have very. Limited use. Until. She could get. Dark curtains. For her sensitivity. Was something. She could not. compromise. "Konichiwa, Bix-san." Bix looked up. From the book. In her lap. Closing it gently. Her attention. On the man. In the doorway. Her eyes. Were blank. Once more. As she watched him. He began to speak. Saying that. She could do. anything to her room. To make it. Her own. And if she needed. anything. He would. Be glad to help. Bix had always. Been a very intricate woman. Loving her room. To be filled and. Cluttered with. Many things. But she knew. She could ask. For no money. However, she had. A job. and therefore. She would likely. Be able. To buy things. Little by little. To fill her room. And decorate it. "Curatins, if I may ask for. I fear, an ailment I have, to the sunlights direct rays." Bix never. Admitted her weakness. To anyone. most believed. That her skin. Was so pale. Because she was. Gothic. It was not. Though she fit. Into that style well. Bix instead. Actually had something. Called. Photodertmatosis. Her skin. Would burn. In a flash. Get bad rashes. And blisters. Because of the sun. There was not much. That could be done. She wore. tons of sunscreen. She used umbrellas often. She used more moisturizer. Than anyone in the world. And she took vitamins. For the vitamin D she was missing. Still though. She hated. To admit. That she had. This ailment. Suichi. Explained. That there was a key. In the drawer. Of her nightstand. And her eyes looked. To the small drawer. That he spoke of. Huh. She had never. Thought to look in there. But it was surely. Interesting to know. She nodded. In afirmation of. Having heard him. And understood. The comment. He looked at her. And she at him. Her eyes. Were curious. While she had. Somehow. Formed a strange. Connection. With his adopted son. She still. Saw no need. To open his home to her. But she supposed. She should not. Pretend his gift. Was nothing. Because it meant. A great deal. To the girl. "Welcome home, Bix-san." "I thank you." With that. Suichi left. Bix closed. The door. To what was now. Her room. And she changed. Her clothing. Wearing her other set. A black skirt. With black tights. A blue button down shirt. With a silver tie. A black vest. Over these. She brushed out. Her hair. And put sunscreen. On her hands. Face. And neck. The only. Exposed skin on her. Before she jumped. The intent. Exclaimation of YES!!!! Came from the room. Next to her. Bix's hand. Went over her heart. As she listened. To Suichi and Connor. She wondered. If he had realized. Before. She had no place to go. If Connor understood. What Suichi had. Or if. Suichi would explain it. To him later. She had no idea. But that was not. All that important. She supposed. Opening her door. She stepped out. As Suichi. headed back. to the kitchen. Bix paused. In the door of. Connor's room. "Breakfast, eat you must, or I will." It was a tease. For she would. Indeed. Devour what she could. And if he. Were not there to share. She would just go. Right on eating. She hoped. He would not. wait too long. Not waiting. Another moment. She moved. Into the kitchen. Sitting. At the table. Where the feast. Lay spread out. Before her. She smiled. As she waited. For affirmation. And then. Helped herself. She was already. Devouring. Her food. Hungrily eating. It had been a while. And who knew. How long it would be. Again. Living here. Full time had not yet. Fully sunk in. But she planned. To help out. Starting this morning. There was grocery money. On the table. By Suichi's bed. In an envelope. That said. 'Assistance' Though that. Was not what it was. "Delicious your food is, wonderful cook, you are." Bix commented Suichi. Between bites of her food. And sips. Of her juice.

Connor's eyes opened in surprise. Bix was playful with him? He knew she had to have heard him. Yet, she didn't seem to care. No, she was heading to the kitchen to eat her share of food, and his if he didn't hurry. He heard her leave, and he closed his own door. He got changed. Blue jeans and a t-shirt. Connor didn't have a fancy wardrobe. He owned simple clothes. He headed to the kitchen, where Bix was, and took a seat next to her, just in time to hear her compliment.
"Thank you very much. I believe the food tastes better when you can enjoy cooking. This was a simple meal to prepare, but whenever you do anything, if love is put into the effort, things seem to go much better." He smiled, taking his own seat. He placed a plate in front of Connor, and one in front of himself as well. "I will pick up some dark curtains after breakfast. I have some errands to run, and I can pick them up on the way. If you ever need anything else, like a particular type of of food or other item you want or need, let me know. Make me a list. I'll be happy to pick up whatever you need."
He looked at Connor, who seemed to be in a daze. There was a smile on his face. He still couldn't believe she was actually staying. He had one person he called friend, and she was a beautiful person to him. Here she was, at the table, eating. It was like... almost like a family. Except Bix was a friend and growing into a love interest, not a sister.
"Connor, are you with us? You haven't taken a bite yet. You're not sick, are you?" Of course Suichi knew what was on Connor's mind, but he was playing with him. Connor seeemd to snap out of it, though, and began eating.
"No, sensei. I am fine. Just... have a lot on my mind is all." He was still smiling as he ate, and even though blind still couldn't quite bring himself to face Bix's direction. He tried, but only blushed when he did so. After a few moments, Connor gained the courage enough to speak to her.
"Bix... I'm... really happy that your staying here. I hope... you like it. If there's anything I can do for you, tell me, ok?" With that, he became silent again.
Suichi finished his meal quicker than the other two, though Bix did well herself. She may not have said much, but she seemed happy to finally get some real food in her system. He sat down again, getting his shoes on. "I understand they have increased the number of days you are to attend school. Every day now, that's what you told me, right Connor?"
Connor nodded. Suichi waved his hand as if he didn't care what the school said. "I think a day off every now an then is much better. You cannot work a muscle too hard without a break. It'll strain. The mind included." He finished with his shoes. "You should both take today and enjoy it. It'll help with adjusting. If the school complains, I'll write a note for the two of you." He smiled.
"I will be back later. If you leave, just make sure you lock up." With that, he stood and bowed. Then he was gone, leaving the teens at the table. Connor was still nervous, and he finally managed to turn to Bix.
"If you want, you can use my room. Since you don't have curtains." Connor had think, dark curtains himself. HThat wasn't the thing that made him nervous, though. "Um, Bix? You didn't... hear me before, did you? When Suichi came to my room?" If she did, he would blush, then explain.
"I just.. got excited. It means I get to spend more time with you. That is, as long as I'm not bothering you. Just happy to know you'll.. be around. I got worried. A little, anyway. That the night you came over might have been the last time I really would have spent time with you." He grinned, feeling silly. "I'm glad I found you last night."
He had no idea what she had been through, and why she was there. She hadn't told him, at least not yet. He had no idea that the gift of a room meant so much to her, that she was torn and conflicted inside. Nor that simple kind gestures might help to slowly heal her. If he did, he would make sure to do everything in his power to help her in any way. It was just his nature.

Unusual Kindness Suichi mentioned. That if there was anything. Else that she might. Require. To write it down. And he would. Do his best. To get it for her. Afterall. She was staying here now. But that today. While he was out. He would look for. Some dark curtains. So that she could. Put them up. In her room. To block the sunlight. They would only. Ever be opened. During the night. For now. They would remain closed when. She got them. So that. She could enjoy her room. Without having. To hide in the shadows. Bix nodded. But said nothing. She was devouring every bite. Of her breakfast. Like the starved girl. That she was. When her plate was empty. Seconds after Suichi's. She listened. AS the old man. Got Connor's ttention. She looked over. At her friend. And he seemed. To be day dreaming. Though about what. She could not. Figure out. She did not. Know him well enough. To know that this. Was abnormal for him. Connor finally spoke. Saying that he was glad. She was staying here. And if she needed anything. She could just ask. And he would do anything. That he could. Do help her out. She was almost tired. Of hearing that. She did not understand. Why they all felt. That she deserved. Some sort of help. Why she was worthy. Of this kind of kindness. It was not as if. She felt herself. Less than human or something. Merely that, she knew. That she was not. Deserving of this. She had done nothing. And helped no one. That would make it so. That she was worthy. Still though. She could only nod. Though he couldn't see. And put her fork down. On her plate. Suichi said. That they needed . A break from school. Going seven days a week. Which to Bix's mind. Was utter crap. But still. She did not. Have a choice. Participation. And attendance. Were part of the grades. So she had been going. But Suichi mentioned. They could. Take the day . Off of school. And just relax. Something that would. Not be bad at all. Bix had no reason. To go to school. At least. No reason to fear not going. And Suichi stated. That he would write them both notes. If it became an issue. Getting his shoes on. He stated that. He would be back later. And that when/if. They left. Just to lock up. Leaving the two teens alone. Bix rose. Getting Suichi's plate, her plate, and the empty platters. She moved. to the sink. And began. To wash the dishes. He spoke to her. Asking her. If she had heard him. Earlier. In his room. "Indeed." That was all. The answer. That he needed. She dried the dishes. And when Connor. Was done with his. She took, washed, and dried. HIs as well. So that Suichi. Would not come home. To a mess. When he began to explain. That he was happy. And why he was happy. She was here. She stood there. In the kitchen. Watching him. It seemed. He feared. That the one night. She spent with him. Was to be the last. But it had not. And she had not intended it. To be the last. He saw of her. Merely that. She did not think. Nor wish for. An emotional connection. Like the kind. He sought after. "Fear not, it seems your master would have, that I am around more often. I cannot understand why, and yet, I accept for reasons of my own. I appreciate you allowing me here. And your friendship, much grateful I am, for it. A trip, I need, some point to retrieve my items. From a hideaway spot. Necessary it was to rent, afterall, carry not I can all such things around upon my shoulder." Bix looked down. At her pale hands. And looked back up. To Connor sitting there. At the table. He was so sweet. And yet he was so gentle. So fragile. She felt as though. She might have. To extend her protection. To him as well.

Connor nodded, and thanked her for doing the dishes. As amazing as his "sight" seemed to be, blindness still had it's snag. Washing dishes, or thinking he could, had gained him a few cuts here and there on the knives that seemed to wait and lurk, biting him just as he reached for them. Suichi had always taken that task on himself, Connor left to dry them Bix, however, was doing both.
His nod was at the mention of retrieving her things. "I can imagine that having to cart your whole life around with you would get heavy." It was metaphorical. Everyone carried things with them, even if they weren't objects. Feelings, memories, pain, fear, love, friendship... all had their ups and downs, and all could burden one if they piled too high.
"I can take the walk with you, if you want. Unless it's something you need to do on your own." His nervousness seemed to be gone, for the moment. He would have gone with her, assisted if need be. But, he knew very well that some things needed to be done alone. Besides, he could always train. He was weak, and not because of his emotions. At least, he didn't see them as weaknesses. No, his physical strength and speed were not nearly as good as they could be. Should be. He needed to train again, something he'd been slacking on since he had been at his last school.
"If you're not going to go for a while, maybe we could start on a lesson?" He still wished to learn about her ways. Partly for his own sake, to make his own path clear. Partly he hoped to unlock a bit, and understand her better. But, she did offer, and he wanted to take her up on it. Maybe her way held an answer somewhere to something, anything, that would get to the inner self... where Suichi said true power lie. He hoped those words were true.
