Adrian listened to Mr. Hyde speak, although, to be honest, it sounded a bit more like preaching. He spoke of the age-old issue of high-school prejudice within cliques, and he couldn't help but smirk. You see, Adrian fit neatly into that "Jock" clique himself. The captain of the football team, dating the head cheerleader, and generally quick to push around anyone else. However, just because he fell into that stereotype pretty hard didn't particularly mean everyone else did.
And so he rose his hand again to disagree.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Hyde, but I'm not so sure I agree. At least, not with the high-school bit; I can't argue prejudice happens all over in the world. I mean, back in private school, it was bad, but here, I haven't noticed it so much. It seems like the schools you read about in books or movies are big on the clique verse clique prejudice, but I feel like so many of the students here are less inclined to that. For instance, if you'll allow me, sir...."
Adrian hesitated a moment, awaiting for the go-ahead from Hyde to continue his demonstration. If given, Adrian would stand up, turning to the rest of the class. "How many of you would register yourself squarely as part of one of Mr. Hyde's little 'cliques'? You don't have to jump out and exclaim it, just raise your hand."
Adrian would await the hands to be risen or not, and afterwards, would ask another question.
"Okay, now, how many of you can claim that you know a martial art, or at least would agree that you know how to fight to a significant degree?"
Once again, he awaited hands to raise, of which he knew there would be many. He could count at least three, not counting him, that he knew for a fact would agree to this.
After the show of hands, he would continue his argument.
((Please go ahead and answer with a raise of the hand or not, for both questions, rest of the class. After a decent majority of you have done so, I'll post again with the rest of my rant.))

Li leaned back in his chair, and looked over when he saw Alexis look up at him and smile. “Sure what do you have in mind?” Li pretended to ponder his answer as he saw the sly smile on Alexis face as she gave him a teasing wink. “Just kidding, I usually have more than one thing on my mind... It’s rare so you better take advantage of it and we can like... go for a walk or something?” "Sure, maybe we can go walk in the city or something, just spend some time together alone with each other," Li said as he turned in his seat, sitting sideways and leaned forward, speaking softly by her ear, before pulling back and giving her a smirk, "Or whatever you feel like doing, I'm not really fussed when it comes to it." Li then turned back in his desk, facing forward, as he picked up his book and began to read the first chapter.
Unlike Alexis who wasn't a big fan of reading, Li liked to read, but after about five minutes, he placed his book back down and turned around, facing Alexis once more. "Screw reading the book, I'll read it later. I rather talk with you anyways." But before he could strike up a conversation with Alexis, he heard Mr. Hyde speak, answering Adrian's question about the Two Minutes Hate, adding in a part about high school cliques. Thinking about it, Li didn't think he belonged to any particular group or clique. He was a punk, but that was it. It seemed Adrian disagreed with Mr. Hyde, for he raised his hand and then voiced his opinion. He then asked permission from Mr. Hyde, and then stood up, turning to face the class and asked them if any of them registered squarely in one of the stereotypes Mr. Hyde listed. Li however, didn't raise his hand, because he seemed to be in different cliques, not just a single one. He then asked how many of them claimed to know a martial art, or knew how to fight to a certain degree. Li raised his hand, because he knew how to fight, he had been in more fights than he could possibly count.
"But cliques aren't always certain type of people," Li pointed out, as he looked at Adrian, "I'd say a clique would be a group of about 4-5 people or more, that share similar, if not same, interests with each other. And let's face it, would you want to hang out with someone who likes something that you don't like?"

Matrim had gotten his book and he was reading. He had read and got into it so much that he wasn't paying attention to the people talking, he would read till the absolute last second of class. For some reason, that's just how it went down today. He got caught up in the story and it wasn't until Li said something that urked a certain artificial intelligence did Matrim feel the need to speak out. For some reason he started to get a headache from the debate.
"That's not a clique Li," Matrim said with a hand going to his temple, "That can be a gang, a group of friends. A clique is a group that fits a certain description, a walking cliche. The running back and the quarter back may have completely different interests, but they are both considered jocks. And in regards to your point, Mr. Hyde, you'd be surprised the prejudice I've seen in my life time. I wouldn't call something so insignificant as high school cliques 'prejudice'. I for example don't judge a person.... until I've fought them or seen them do something that pisses me off. That may just be me personally."
He turned to Adrian though because he really didn't want to interrupt him, he just had to get his two cents in. Of course, he wouldn't answer Adrian with a raise of the hand he would simply say, "If I had to guess I'd say about seventy percent of the class as, but please, do go on."
Don't know why we're talking about this.... Couldn't everybody just watch the after school special and skip the public debate?

Alexis was glad Li didn't want to read and how he was about to start a conversation with her, but nuuu the teacher had to talk about cliques and what not. It would have been fine, though it would have appeared it sparked a little debate amongst the class. Alexis rolled her eyes as Li tried to define a clique then she sighed when Matrim corrected him.
Did it honestly fucking matter what a clique was? Debates were God aweful and friggen annoying. Though when the blonde fellow asked for them to put up their hands. She knew not to put up her hand for the first one, because she didn't belong to any cligue, after all, any body from any clique had the tendancy to hate her. When she was in school she used to be popular for a bit... though that was for being a bitch.. are "the bitches" a clique?
Then the second question popped up, and still she didn't lift her arm. She knew how to fence, but where the hell did a fighting effing style come in? Quite frankly, she would rather read the book than listen to this headache. She didn't raise her hand, because she wanted an end to this stupid query, that and she wanted to lie about knowing some form of fighting style.
"Good for you Matrim, you know what a clique is..." her eyes darted up to the standing boy and cocked her eyebrow "And good for you, for giving me a headache." she opened up her book to emphasize the point that she just wasn't going to pay attention anymore, but while she looked down at her page, she continued to speak. "Would you both like cookies?"

Trizen sat quietly while everyone read their books and did their thing. Though for some reason or other he started hearing voices. No, it wasn't because he was going crazy, it was mainly just mumbles and syllables of tones he was hearing from the other students. He was focused on the book so any and every sort of thing that was outside of that seemed to be pretty irrelevant -- minus the words "Almost done".
But then more words followed up and Trizen saw people putting their hands up.
'What the?'
The HD quality movie of 1984 stopped playing in his mind as he looked up and saw people talking. What about? He had no idea. Not to mention he didn't really have the need to care, though he was always interested in the ongoings around him. But someone would answer that question for him.
"Good for you Matrim, you know what a clique is..."
Trizen smirked as she cocked a brow and said more. He even chuckled a little on the mention something so cute as cookies. The boy wondered if she was ever a handful on getting to know her, but that would require getting to know her. Perhaps it was a pre-emptive defense mechanism, but he wasn't going to go there. Trizen learned very early at this school to never fully follow through with wrong judgement at this school. People weren't always what they appeared. Most weren't.
'I wonder if they'll be friends,' he smirked at the thought since he remembered the day met Matrim in a friendly mood. Well, he was drunk, but still friendly. The boy didn't know Matrim to be anything otherwise -- excluding his demeanor change at the rioting a few whiles back, but granted, everyone had a different face when in a bout. 'Should be an interesting semester.'

Sam pulled a book from the back of the room, making a mental note to look for her own copy when she got home that day. She sat down and quietly skimmed the pages, refreshing her memory on the material for that day. She was a little surprised that Mr. Hyde actually expected them to sit down and read... but maybe he had a way of preventing trouble that she didn't know about.
She was distracted, though, by the topic of the Two-Minute Hate that the blond kid brought up. He was he football captain or something, wasn't he?
Sam listened quietly to the conversation, but didn't raise her hand for either of the boy's questions. Sam didn't consider herself part of a clique, and even with her three years of Aikido training, she didn't think she "knew how to fight to a significant degree." Not yet, anyway.
She didn't have anything to add to the discussion yet, and so she kept her mouth shut, but privately she agreed with Adrian. The boundaries between cliques were much less blurred these days. But as Matrim spoke, downplaying the importance of high school cliques, Sam found she did have something to say.
"So, what you're saying is that a group of people who reject someone else because they dress or look different; or because they have different ideas, without ever spending time to really get to know the person first... it isn't prejudice because it takes place in high school? Forgive me for disagreeing, but I would call that prejudice at any age."

It seems like the schools you read about in books or movies are big on the clique verse clique prejudice, but I feel like so many of the students here are less inclined to that. For instance, if you'll allow me, sir...." Kyle nodded his head. "Be my guest Adrian." He replied, giving Adrian permission, as he smiled inwardly. Now wasn't this interesting. Instead of the class running amok because he allowed them to do whatever they wanted, they were going to have a debate. He saw Adrian stand up and then ask the class how many of them thought they fit in with one of the cliques Kyle had mentioned. None of them raised their hands, as Kyle thought. Adrian then asked how many of them thought the knew how to fight, to a certain degree. Only Li raised his hand, who then gave his opinion, which in turn was rebutted against by Matrim.
"And in regards to your point, Mr. Hyde, you'd be surprised the prejudice I've seen in my life time. I wouldn't call something so insignificant as high school cliques 'prejudice'. I for example don't judge a person.... until I've fought them or seen them do something that pisses me off. That may just be me personally." "While that may be true Matrim, keep in mind, prejudice is still prejudice, whether it be as something as small or insignificant as high school cliques. Just because it takes place in a high school, does not make it any less worse." He then heard Alexis congratulate Matrim sarcastically for knowing what a clique was, and then telling Adrian for giving her a headache before looking back down at her book. Anthony then heard Sam speak, saying almost the same thing he had just said, that prejudice is prejudice, no matter where it took place. Kyle's inward smile was now a huge smirk, as he casually looked at his watch. "Alright, as much as I love to continue this discussion, class is over. Next class, we'll be starting on 1984, you aren't required to read the first two chapters for next class, though it would help you a bit. You are all dismissed. I'll see you all next class."

She was paying a hell of a lot of attention on her book, though what evre she was reading wasn't making it in her head. Though it was better than listening to a few students have a lame discussion about cliques.
When the words "Class is over" rang in Alexis' ears, she immediately shut her book and tucked it away in her binder. She wasn't going to read the book, yay Spark Notes.
She stood from her desk and held out her hand for Li to take with a smile on her face. "Come come, I wanna get the hell out of here." if he were to take her hand, she would head out the door and towards the direction of her car, though she didn't know where he would have parked his bike. "I have a headache... A walk tould be nice..."

Sara sighed and closed the book. Class was over, finally. Thank God. She couldn't concentrate today if her life depended on it. It was a good class though. The teacher was good. Nice guy. She smiled. It would be fun to see him around more, play some mind games with him <3 And his dog was cute. Nice.
She grabbed her crutches and pulled herself to her feet. Making her way to the front of the class, she sent the teacher a smile and wink, and then left the room. She wondered what she should do now... Maybe she would go get some food or something...?

The young boy looked around while everything was happening. People were still debating.. or something. Trizen wasn't quite paying attention, but even still he figured it would have been of some use to know what was going on. Then the smirk came. He knew that wasn't happening.
'Hm? Really?' Trizen heard the teacher say that class was over. He was glad, because now he could head to his next class: Orchestra. The young boy was excited because he decided to give up the piano chair to a talented freshman so that he could have one of the cello chairs. The teacher said they were short of cellists since one of them got into a fight and broke their forearm. That gave the opportunity for Trizen to practise more of an instrument he vaguely knew. To his surprise, he wasn't too bad. Not the best, mind you, but good enough. He knew he needed practise.
Oops, Trizen was daydreaming now. He put his books away in his shoulder bag and swung that over his shoulder as he stood. He then began to hum one of Bach's Cello Suites as he psyched himself for the next class. He really was more excited about that than anything. He loved music.
"Have a good day, Mr. Hyde," he said with a nod and made his steps out the classroom door.

Well it was the end of class, and so Matrim put up with Alexis' comment simply because he didn't need to start shit with more people. Best to let sleeping dogs lie, so he just pretended as if she wasn't even there. That was much easier to pull off. Besides, he didn't need the headache, and knowing she had one was retribution enough. Still he wondered just how annoyed he would get with her before he snapped. In the future he'd make a note to try his best to ignore her, and if that failed he could just burn her into realizing not to constantly say smart remarks toward him.
"Right well I'm out of here," He said getting rather annoyed with the class. He grabbed his bag, books, and got the hell out of there. Leaving the classroom and heading straight for the cafeteria. He wanted something to drink, and rather then go into a bottle like he wanted he'd get himself some tea or quite possibly some juice. He had to eat healthy, and being annoyed wasn't helping his cravings for his vice's.

"That's not a clique Li. That can be a gang, a group of friends. A clique is a group that fits a certain description, a walking cliche. The running back and the quarter back may have completely different interests, but they are both considered jocks." Li however, merely kept silent, instead more interested in his fingernails than the debate. He had said his piece, there was no point in saying anything else. He then heard Alexis congratulate Matrim sarcastically for knowing what a clique was, and then telling the blond guy, Adrian he believed his name was, based on the roll call, for giving her a headache before looking back down at her book. Li then heard the girl who had walked in, then walked out, then back in, Sam he believed, say almost the same thing Mr. Hyde had said to Matrim, that prejudice is prejudice, no matter where it took place.
"Alright, as much as I love to continue this discussion, class is over. Next class, we'll be starting on 1984, you aren't required to read the first two chapters for next class, though it would help you a bit. You are all dismissed. I'll see you all next class."
Li's head snapped up immediately from analyzing his fingernails, they were free? YES. He closed his binder and book, and placed them in his bag along with his pencil bag, before standing up and saw Alexis hold her hand out to him, a smile on her face. "Come come, I wanna get the hell out of here." "You and me both my dear..." Li muttered softly under his breath, as he took Alexis' hand and was led out the door, as he saw they were heading towards her car, he had parked his bike about two parking spaces down from her. "I have a headache... A walk would be nice..." "Would you settle for something else, something better than a walk?" He replied coyly, giving her a sly grin. Was he suggesting something? I'll leave that up to your imagination. At least class was finally over.

Class was over. Finally. It sucked a little that it ended in the middle of what was looking up to be a nice debate, but Sam wasn't too upset by it. She really just wanted to get through the day. She packed her things and stood up, stretching.
She couldn't help but steal a furtive glance at Nick before heading toward the front of the room, but quickly turned her attention to Louie, giving the dog a quick scratch behind the ears. The little beagle was just too irresistible. She headed out the door, pulling out her iPod as she did, and putting the earbuds into her ears.

Nick smirked. He was already ahead then, as he had tuned out half the prejudice debate to finish the first two chapters of the book. Sara had completely ignored him as she was too concerned with getting out of the class. Nick gathered his pack and slung it over his shoulder as he stood up. He shouted to the front of the class as everyone started to leave.
"See ya, Mr. H!"
He exited the room, hoping maybe he could catch up to Sara and see what was up with her and her strange antics.

Adrian would listen to the people speak up, slightly annoyed that they didn't just play along for the slightest of moments and do what he'd asked. One girl in particular spoke up towards both Matrim and he in a rather sarcastic manner, and asked if they wanted cookies. Without even skipping a beat, Adrian replied, regarding her with his cool blue eyes as he did so.
"Yes, actually, I would. I expect you to make good on your offer at least before the end of school today."
He smirked and brushed her off without a second word. Adrian had gone to private schools for most of his younger life, he knew how to deal with bitches.
He was just about to make his point, but Mr. Hyde called the end of class. Adrian's eyes shot up to the clock, seeing that it was, in fact, time to leave. He shrugged, realizing his little spiel would have to wait. "All I was gonna say is that, I've seen cliques, and this school doesn't seem to adhere to the usual rules most do, for some reason. The fact that prejudice and the like still exists, however, makes for an interesting enough debate, but I suppose we can save that for another day."
Adrian grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder, tossing the copy of 1984 inside it before he did so. As the other children exited the room, Adrian turned back to Mr. Hyde and gave a little nonchalant wave as a way of saying 'bye'.
As he walked out, though, he intentionally brushed right past Alexis, just as Li was reaching out to take her hand, getting up in their way before they could make full contact with their hands. As he did, he turned back to Alexis and smirked.
"Don't forget those cookies, sweetheart."
