Gabriel gave a short grin, "understandably so, thats why it would be much like a republic."
Gabriel shook the notion about several times in his head prior as he moved the cut to his lips before drinking and setting it lightly aside. His hand brushed through his hair softly.
"Have figure heads who in the end decide their fate, and with that lead a controlled effort in the best interest of the school."
A calm placing of his hand on the table.
"And while the hierarchy decides the whole fate the school still has power to deny the armies movements based on popular demand... this way there is progress and less violence that runs amok."

Sam shook her head, lips pressed together in thought as she tried to process what he was saying.
"I don't know," she said finally. "It... It just seems so superfluous to try and instate an entirely new system when the one we have works just fine." Of course, no officialdom was perfect, but the one they had worked, and kept as much order as could be expected. After all, they had a hard job, keeping track of a school the size of Moral Crest - and there was only four of them.
If anything, Sam thought they should be congratulated, not removed.

Gabriel shook his head lightly trying to avoid an anger induced conversation, he rather preferred to hit an emotional note at this point something that would bring tears and a loss of control to it all. He rolled up his sleeve and pulled off the glove on his right hand revealing the not so human metal appendage he'd received.
"A system that works in order to make the students fear them? Fear, not respect?" Gabriel said in a low voice not angry but filled with a tired passion, "I got this because I stood for freedom, and the pillars ordered a hit to kill me, I merely got out with this."
Gabriel flexed the arm remembering how much pain had shot through him when the butchers knife fell on it.

"The students fear them because they don't take the time to consider the possibility that there might be another way." If a system of fear is all they know, how can they be expected to trust? And sure, Sam didn't doubt that there might be some Pillars that might abuse their position. but that didn't mean that every person who took the position would do the same.
Sam gasped involuntarily as Gabriel removed his glove. She couldn't help but stare at his mechanism of a hand. "The Pillars... did that?" She didn't know if he was talking about current Pillars, and she was afraid to ask.
She looked up at him. "But why? What were you trying to do?" She guessed that there was more to the story. She couldn't imagine a Pillar pulling anything like that without at least a semi-good reason.

"Yes... They did it because I stood up for those who couldn't defend themselves, and they saw that as a challenge against their rule." Gabriel said in a solid voice.
His eyes batted for but a moment his chest flared now with some pride he'd recovered. Emerald hues opened to take on Samantha closely with a look of concern and possible hope.
"There are times when power corrupts us all, I'm not saying that a new system wont work, but we have to try for something that can give those without any moral some grasp of what it is to feel connected. At least some chance of being part of something without being put down for their beliefs." His intense stare faded into a plea for help, or at the very least a brighter glow about him as if he believed every word he'd said.
"Don't you want to feel that way Samantha, doesn't everyone want their own chance?"
