Building bridges(Emily/Ryuu)

[Gabriel Seran]

It had been nearly a week since the episodes of Reven's wrath ran amok on his allies and Gabriel had to make amends for his problems the monster set out onto the world. Always the trouble but if he was responsible for the problems couldn't Gabriel have stopped him? That would be the question on everyone's mind. He didn't quite know himself. There had been times in the past when he tried for it but it would seem as though a part of Gabriel enjoyed the destruction and chaos he wrought.

Gabriel sat hunched over a small bench on the outskirts of the field, one which you'd be seated at assuming a game was being played. Though there was one scheduled for perhaps an hour or so, something told Gabriel he would perhaps run into one of them here. He'd have to make good on his apologies, even if he didn't fully understand the methods behind his madness.

Madness. Was he ill? or was the cure far worse than the Disease.

Ryuu walked across the school grounds, his custom made black bokuto held over his right shoulder, as he walked beside Emily, who was holding the exact same bokuto he was. The two of them had been practicing some Kenjutsu in the gym, and Ryuu was pleased to see she had gotten better. He was wearing a plain black t-shirt, loose black track pants, his worn down black Converse shoes, and his gray overcoat. The two of them passed by the field, near the bench where Gabriel was currently sitting, hunched over. Ryuu smiled as he made a comment in the conversation they were having, as they began to cross the field. He shoved his free hand into his pocket, as he bent down slightly to hear what Emily had said, before stopping in mid-pose, as his gaze locked onto the figure on the bench across from them.

The smile that had been on his face fell quickly like a single drop of rain, Ryuu slowly straightened up, as a cool but wary look appeared on his face. Continuing to shoulder his bokuto, Ryuu continued to stare warily at Gabriel, his trust in Gabriel had decreased greatly ever since the hit on not just his life, but Emily's as well at the hands of Gabriel's own alter ego. Ryuu could no longer trust Gabriel at this point, as much as it pained him. "Gabriel." Ryuu said simply, as he looked at the man he once considered to be a close friend and ally, though a small part of him still did, with a serious look on his face. No emotion showing, just a calm and cool expression, as he stood in front of Emily. The situation between the trio was tense, if it wasn't obvious enough. But how much more tense it would get, would remain unknown and to be seen.

Emily didn't speak, unlike Ryuu. Gabriel would know Emily enough to figure out that she wasn't exactly very unforgiving, but this was a point where her trust in him was now dwindling. Emily couldn't figure out how or why he did it, and it was more likely he had no control over himself.

Was that an excuse? Emily never let Kari take over to wreak damage on anyone. It was a weakness, on Gabriel's part. She just stood there, behind Ryuu. She refused to come closer -- a sign of distrust.

Gabriel's eyes rolled over opening behind his lids. At first the voice and sight of the two brought a relieving feeling in his chest as if a weight had been lifted from his gut. His eyes traced over them concerned and with genuine sorrow. The weight suddenly came down with an intense force causing him to sigh in exertion of the mental pain. He couldn't stand it any more. His head lowered in disgust of himself and the words he'd been planning out had disappeared from his experienced mind.

"Hey...I_I...Hmmm," He slowed to choose his words hesitant to raise, "Ryuu, Emily, I need help..." His eyes looked at them now in exertion and despair.

"You're the only two I can trust, and still I hurt you...I don't know how I can hide it anymore, Please." Gabriel's eyes twitched as they fought back tears.

Hiding the bodies beneath the rug had always kept him safe before, running too. Never to be discovered. Reven sat behind the lids seeing everything, this time raged with concern.

'This time you've damned me Gabriel,'

'This time I'm done with you Reven,'

Ryuu maintained his calm and cool expression as Gabriel's eyes traced over the two of them, concern and sorrow in his eyes, before he sighed and lowered his head, as he began to speak to the both of them, telling them he needed help, as he looked at them, exertion and despair in his eyes. "You're the only two I can trust, and still I hurt you...I don't know how I can hide it anymore, Please." Ryuu continued to keep silent, he had trusted Gabriel, and he had ended up stabbed by him. Not only that, he attacked Emily as well. His trust in Gabriel was at its lowest point, that's for sure. Ryuu continued to stand in front of Emily, slightly hiding her from view, which wasn't too hard, seeing as Ryuu was much taller than her.

"How can we help you, if we can't trust you?" Ryuu replied calmly, still shouldering his bokuto, slightly on guard, ready to react in case anything happened. Gabriel had attacked Emily once, he wasn't going to let it happen again, not while he could still breath. "We trusted you Gabe, and you broke that trust by letting your alter ego out and attack not just one, but both of us. How can we help you, if you can't even help yourself?" Ryuu's tone of voice was neither accusing nor angry, all it was, was calm, with a hint of disappointment and hurt mingled within. "Before we can help you, you have to help yourself Gabriel. Because I'll be straight up honest with you, I don't trust you all that much anymore."

Ryuu had said already what Emily would've said if he didn't get to it first. Emily was always the silent one, always the one behind the scenes; the supporter. Leadership was never her thing, but it seemed as if maybe there will be a time that she will have to step up and fight on the front lines.

Emily didn't mind at all. Militia was her family, and she wouldn't let go of it. At least not yet. She quickly untied the scarf on her neck, letting the rather reddish scar free to be seen though still partially hidden by her shirt. "Was it you who did this to me?" She asked, her voice warm in spite of her distrust. Emily couldn't bring herself to hate Gabriel entirely. Not that she was perfect, but rather understood him. She had fought her monsters before, and it was Gabriel's turn. Unfortunately, Gabriel seems to be on the losing end of the fight. "Give me the name of the persona of yours that tried to kill Kari and Myself."

It was somewhat an order, though Emily tried her best not to make it sound like it.

Gabriel fought back an onslaught of tears. Fear gripping him for the first time in years. He thought he'd dominated such showings of emotions, they were for the weak. He needed to save himself but how could he save himself when he was locked up alone in a dar room, the only thing safe about them were the dark corners in which he sought refuge. Reven cackled from the darkness, he never rested and never died.

"Give me the name of the persona of yours that tried to kill Kari and Myself."

Gabriel felt guilt, not because it was him who did the harm, yet in a way it was Reven was a part of him. Reven was him. The darker side at least.

"Reven..." Gabriel coughed up between a small bout of sobs. His control shuddered as he tried holding the voice back. It was hard, Gabriel was at the breaking point if he lost control here he'd be lost to it forever. He just needed to hold out a little longer. They had to help him, or Gabriel would always be second seat to the demon.

"Reven..." Ryuu muttered quietly, a look of deep contemplation on his face. So Kari was Emily's alter ego then, based on what Emily just said, since she had mentioned to Ryuu she had an alter ego, back when he had been in the hospital recovering from his stab wound, and she had been watching over him. He could see Gabriel's body shudder between his small bouts of sobbing. Ryuu looked at Gabriel, a bit of concern in his eyes, before turning to Emily, his eyes briefly focusing on the rather reddish scar on her neck, though most of it was hidden by her shirt. ["What do we do? I can't bring myself to completely hate Gabriel, despite what he did to the both of us. And if the two of us can't even save him from himself, then I don't know who can..."] It must be extremely frightening for Gabriel, to show such a display of fear and emotion in front of the only two people he ever trusted, only to end up hurting them, and breaking that trust.

["I think we should help him..."] Ryuu said quietly, locking eyes with Emily, his gray eyes staring into her green eyes, ["Gabriel is at his breaking point, if we turn our backs on him now, the Gabriel we knew, will be lost forever, and Reven will be here to stay."] Ryuu turned to face Gabriel, before taking a step forward, placing himself between Emily and Gabriel, effectively protecting and shielding her from him, should Reven appear unexpectedly. "Gabriel," Ryuu said calmly, looking down at him, "I'll help you, but you have to help yourself before I can. You have to fight against your inner demon, you have to let go of what was tormenting you, your past, your fear of showing emotions, whatever it is that created Reven in the first place." Ryuu held his left hand out to Gabriel, his right hand still gripping his bokuto lightly, but readily, should anything happen. "You have to move on, before anyone, including the two of us, can help you."

Emily sighed. What Ryuu said was true, but she just sighed. What could she do to help? A fight within he body was his own, Gabriel's own. Not even Emily or anyone else could help him overcome it by himself. "[So I see.]" She said, taking something from her pocket. It was a small vial that had a few pills on it. If Gabriel went and held Ryuu's hand, Emily would smile, stepping forward to bring the small vial into Gabriel's hand.

"This is the medicine I took when I was fighting Kari." She said, "Take it, please. It will weaken Reven's influence in you, but then again -- the question of him leaving you is your choice." She then smiled, giving Gabriel a small embrace. Emily was willing to support him in that, though there was still a part of her that was still a bit scared.

Emily wasn't holding her bokutou, as she had let it go the moment she reached for her medicine. She wondered how this encounter would turn out.

[Gabriel Seran]

Anti-psychotics? He would feel insulted, though he knew it was best to keep it all controlled. Anger was just another route to releasing the inner demon. He had to know he could trust them. Gabriel knew well enough that Ryuu's defensive stance was only to protect Emily and was all in the best intentions but it only made him feel more distant from humanity. It was unnecessary.

Emily's small embrace however brought him back, "Thank you," Gabriel chocked out uneasily. He was on his knees still when he had controlled his light sobbing. Gabriel came to his full height again towering over the pair now. They would help him, though it wouldn't last long, somewhere along the lines he'd slip and Reven would be there waiting for him. The monster inside was just too strong.

Forget the past...

[Ryuu]

"You need not thank us," Ryuu said simply, folding his arms after he tucked his bokuto into his belt, as he stood beside Emily, who had given Gabriel a small embrace, "We can help you along the way, but it has to be you that opens the door. The medicine that Emily gave you is one of many steps you need to take, before you can reach your destination. A journey begins with but a single step." Ryuu then saw Gabriel stand up, having been on his knees during the time he had been sobbing lightly, as he towered over the two of them slightly. "We will help you Gabriel, and we will help you fight against Reven, against your inner demon. You're not alone in your fight anymore, you have us now."

"We may not be able to fully get rid of Reven, but we can at least relinquish much of the control he has over you Gabriel. You don't have to hide in the darkness anymore, the two of us can help guide the light into the darkest depths. But you have to be the one to fully eradicate Reven, if you so desire. What do you say, Gabriel?" Ryuu asked, nodding his head slightly, his arms still folded across his chest. Ryuu gazed up at Gabriel, having said his piece, there wasn't much left for him to say at this point. It would ultimately be up to Gabriel, to decide what it was, he wanted to do. He and Emily could only help and do so much for Gabriel currently.

Emily smiled. "You don't need to take that medicine all the time. Only when you feel that control is slipping away." She said, before Ryuu began to speak. Ryuu seemed to know exactly what to say, which was good. Emily wanted to give Gabriel all the support he needs to overcome this.

The truth was simple, Reven and Kari had to go. There wasn't a lot else to say in this post, is there? "I have to fight Kari as well. I've yet to rid of her," she said, "I admit to have been thinking if you have been clinging to him as I did to Kari. I don't know, I don't usually remember anything Kari does."

[Gabriel Seran]

"Good, together then?" Gabriel smiled feeling a weight lift from his chest.

He could never repay them for their kindness, even after Gabriel lost control over himself. He'd done something foolish and let his emotions tear him apart. Reven would never reap the same destruction he'd caused before, never let him assault his friends.

'I'll be here...waiting....'
