Apparently Nick's flirting was making her blush profusely. So she was Japanese... that was a new one for Nick, who had never met a Japanese girl before. That's what was amazing about America; you could have a room of a hundred people, and they could all be from different backgrounds. It was slightly like that in England, but not to as large of an extent.
"Are you from Australia?"
Nick laughed harder than he had before. He assumed she had taken an educated guess on where his accent came from.
"No, love. I'm from England. I'm British." he smiled lightly at her.

Emi knew that she had guessed the wrong country judging by his hearty laugh. Her face continued to stay red as she mentally cursed herself for acting like a fool. Why couldn't she just do something that wouldn't get her laughed at? Couldn't her face even turn back to normal?
"Oh sorry."
She wasn't disappointed to find out that he wasn't from Australia. In fact, she was curious about Great Britain and what he was doing at a school thousands of miles from his home country. She also loved his accent, and in her opinion, Great Britain was an exotic place that she knew nothing about.
"That's cool. I've always wanted to go there," she said shyly.
Suddenly, she realized that he had also called her love. She heard many British on television say the same thing, but she never had the chance to learn what made people say that. Being called such a word made her feel strange. Actually, strange in a good way.

Nick lay back down, elbows outward as he propped his head on his palms, looking at the ceiling. He sighed in a proud way.
"England's an amazing place. Many people in a tight amount of space, but everyone's so lovely that it doesn't matter."
He turned his head to look at her.
"Its basically America, but smaller, more friendly, and has a history that dates back centuries."
He didn't really want to talk about himself anymore if she would be willing to talk about herself instead.
"So why did you come to America?"

Emi could have sworn that Nick was talking about Japanese when he told her how nice is native country is. Like England, Japan is forced to house a large population within a small country, and she couldn't help but think that the two countries were more similar than she had imagined. She missed her home just by thinking about it.
"I know what you mean. My country is the same," she said dreamily.
She paused as she thought over his question. Why did she come to America again? It was such a hard question to answer. She just came over because he father sent for her.
"It's a long story, but my father has a job here."

Nick perked up.
"Me too! That's why I'm in California. My father needed a new job and this is the only place other than England that had his kind of work."
Nick sighed.
"And I moved with him. There wasn't really anything left for us back there without income."
His stomach was feeling better now, but he didn't care to leave Emi alone in the nurses office.
"I think I'm all better now, but would you still like my company?"
He smiled at her, looking at him with his dark blue eyes.

Nick was also someone living in a foreign country. She smiled to herself inside when she realized that the two of them had more in common than she had previously thought. The only difference was that he probably didn't face a language barrier like she did. However, is there something different between American and British culture? She wanted to ask him if living in the United States was tough, but also didn't want him to think of her as nosy at the same time.
"What kind of job does your father do?" She was curious and quickly added,"If you don't mind telling."
Emi looked down and touched the bandages on her knees. She felt a little better but still wasn't in the condition to walk around.
"Well, you don't have to? If you want to go to class, then you can just go," she said shyly, looking down. A part of her wanted badly him to stay, but she didn't want him to waste his time just to watch over her.

Nick wasn't planning on going to class anyways, so he just chuckled.
"My father is in the music industry. He does music engineering for a lot of up and coming bands and such. Most of the work he does is at the recording studio in the city, so he's not home often."
He smiled lightly at her, his eyes shining from the sunlight coming in from the window far off to Nick's left.
"I won't leave if you don't want me to..."
Not that he wanted to leave, but her wanting him to stay would tell him a little about what she thought of him.

"Oh wow."
Honestly, she had no idea what music engineering is. In fact, she didn't know that the music industry needed engineering. Well, whatever his dad did, it sure sounded pretty cool to her. Since America has a big music industry compared to Great Britain, she could understand why his father would want to come here for more opportunities.
Light coming through a nearby window caused his eyes to shine even more. Her heart literally melted when she looked into his deep blue orbs. She had never seen such a pretty shade of blue. Somehow, those eyes made her want to prevent him from going.
"I would like to have you around for just a little more time," she said. "I mean, I want you to stay."
Emi lowered her head to hide the blush reforming on her cheeks. She was well-aware that she was currently in a relationship, but there was something so likable about Nick.

"Yeah, its pretty cool. But its the reason we had to move. Well, I like it here in America, even if I get homesick sometimes."
Nick noticed she was looking at him in that strange way a lot of girls looked at him with.
"I would like to have you around for just a little more time. I mean, I want you to stay."[/i]
Nick chuckled.
"Alright, alright. I won't leave."
He smiled at her and noticed her trying to hide her blushing. The smile changed to a smirk as he got up and went to sit down next to Emi. He looked over to her and re-smiled to see what she would do.

She was such a foolish girl that was easily influenced by such an attractive boy. If only she had been more careful in PE. If she had avoided injury, she would have been in class and there would be no awkward situation with her and Nick.
His eyes drew her in too much, so she had to concentrate on another part of his face. She finally decided on his lips since there seemed to be nothing wrong with them. However, she was able to get a good look at his mischievous side. The way one side of his lip turned up made her heart literally flutter. It awakened the part of her that liked bad boys.
He came over and sat right next to her. As he did so, the temperature in the room increased, and she had more worries to deal with. What if she started sweating? Would her deodorant survive the heat? Wait, she forgot to put on deodorant after PE. What if he thought that she smelled bad?
Slowly, she turned his head to meet his gaze. Looking into his bright blue eyes felt bad but so good.
"..."
She had nothing to say. Her tongue was literally too heavy for her to move around.

Uh oh... Nick may have pushed it a little far, as Emi was now frozen stiff at him coming to sit next to her. His flirty look turned into an inquisitive one.
"Are you alright, Emi? Is something wrong?"
No matter how much of a flirt Nick was, he still could tell when something was amiss. He just didn't know whether he was pushing it to far in the sense that she was afraid, or something to that extent, or if he just had hypnotized her into such a state of stiffness. He was definitely hoping it was the latter, even thought there was the possibility of it being a mixture of reasons.

What was so wrong with being around with Nick? The aura he gave off made her feel so good inside, and she finally understood the weird feeling in her heart that have been the subject of countless Japanese poetry. There was nothing wrong with experiencing this feeling unless there was another man in her life, which there was. However, she did not thing of Ryuu as her mind was in disarray.
"No, I'm okay," she finally replied, her voice slurred, as she had yet to gain full usage of her. tongue. Half of what she said was a lie. Beneath the sweaty hands, the high temperature, and the red face, she enjoyed his company very much. The only problem was that she was unused to the feelings she was experiencing.
"What is going on here?"
She would never find out how she was unable to hear the sound of the door opening and the nurse coming in. The middle-aged woman held a Styrofoam cup, still filled with steaming coffee. On the outside rim was the dark red imprint of her lipstick. She had exited the school for a thirty-minute coffee break and came back to find two teens, attracted to each other by some magnetic force. She didn't know what to make of the scene, and didn't want to imagine what would have happened if the two students had been overcome by their raging hormones.
Emi immediately slid to the edge of the bed and turned her head away from the two. Nick was left to deal with the nurse, who looked more shocked than angry.

The nurse had come back into the office. It was great that Emi was alright, but now it might have seemed a tad awkward that they were alone in here and sitting next to each other. Emi slid away from him and left Nick to take care of the nurse.
"Umm... well you see, I came in here to get rid of a stomach ache and then she came in and you weren't here so I patched her up, I'm alright now, so I'll just go..."
As he said this, he got up and went past the nurse, to the door. Once he got there, all the while the nurse giving him a dirty look, he waved to Emi and zoomed out the door yelling behind him.
"I'll see you later, Emi....!"
