Finally. Good good, what had taken that woman so long? Still slouched in the chair, she shrugged her shoulders at his question.
"I guess. If you want."As she speaks she rummages through her massive canvas messenger bag and drags out a tan leather tie, which she uses to absentmindedly gather her hair in a thick shaggy ponytail."It's not that tough to find your way around after a day or two. But what the hell, if you want me to tag along and keep you out of trouble, I will. You could use a babysitter."

"I guess. If you want."
"I sure do," Terry said with a deceptively sweet smile. Not that he had any dirty thoughts. He watched as the girl tied up her wild hair, which was pretty strange, now that he thought about it. That's some funky hair...
"It's not that tough to find your way around after a day or two. But what the hell, if you want me to tag along and keep you out of trouble, I will. You could use a babysitter." Terry knew all this, of course. He was simply feigning ignorance. In fact, if his assumptions were correct, he'd already figured out where all his classes were, and all he needed to know was where the staircases were. Easy!
"That would be appreciated," Terry said with a nod of his head. With a sigh, Terry followed her out of the office. "Yeah, I have a habit of getting into trouble.."

She cast him a dry glance from her green eyes. He probably thought she was shooting crap about the Qi thing. Tash was a perceptive one like that: very little escaped her attention. Not that she could be sure what he was thinking....she was no mind reader. But from the way he carried himself, like a hunted animal, from the way he'd pounced on that kid for saying the wrong thing about his sister, from the way he stuck up for said sister, she could guess trust wasn't a major part of his life. More's the pity, she thought, but stood anyway. Nothing she said was going to get the kid to trust her so why bother. You didn't need absolute trust to show someone around campus, that was just the polite thing to do.
"Okay kid, well it's pretty basic. 100's are bottom floors, 200's are top floors but I'm sure you figured that out. The only thing that might be a little tough is finding the right halls." The front office lady had finally hopped to and handed him his obligatory packet of school information. She shouldered open the door and headed out in the direction of the man campus. "There was some...unexpected remodeling recently, one of the buildings got torn down and so a bunch of classes have been relocated. But no biggee. What's your first class."
