I should probably just put this in spam cuz I dunno who is actually gonna read or see this here, buuuut.
It's obvious this place has seen better days, for sure. As often happens with a board, everybody gets busy all at once and shit starts to dwindle.
Let's use this thread, those few of us left standing, to give some ideas and opinions on what to do to get things moving again!
Personally, my contribution is a small one: Marianne, Greg, somebody, cut all the classes where they are now and award a nominal amount of XP for them. We can cut the ties, basically, and start fresh with new classes, then, and those who actually check the site can take them.
Secondly: Why not have a small tournament, for no reason other than fun fun fun? There's like 8 of us that still log on regularly, if they see it they might join up.
I dunno, just some shit to throw around. If anyone else has any plans, lets hear it!

XD Yes. I plan an end to Sin's quest soon. Thing is; yes, this place has indeed seen better days, and I wish I had the internet to fix it. It drives me NUTS that I am unable to devote time onto 42 to do anything. As far as ideas go, I am all out at the moment - however, give me until monday and I'll probably flesh out an idea or two ;D -taps foot- Thanks for putting this up, Ryan.

Sounds like a plan, though sadly, much of my time has been devoted to Kai's board *SHOT*
My interest in XIN boards has dwindled to almost nothing, I hate to say.
However, I will help if you wish. Still haven't given up on getting 500 posts XD

My ideas?
Well, if greg isnt going to continue adminning here then i think we should appoint someone to run the place. If he is still planning on staying, THEN GET BACK HERE BIZZNATCH!
secondly, new Captain and pillars. They dont log in, and when they do its unconsequencial- no offense to them, but they dont really do anything. Not to say my own activity is better, but meh, everyones gotta be a hypocrite sometime.
Thirdly, tournaments need to be re-evaluated and have some serious perks for winning. Like possibly one item that boost stats dramatically that must be put up for claim every tournament. Tournament champion wins it and gets it, and so on.
I have more, but i'll slap them up later while i try and get my think on.

But if you do that with the tournaments all your doings is making the stronger strong and turning the people away who think that they'll never get anywhere.
a good idea is to completely start over the board. allow no transfers so all students start on an equal level. that way when you get new players they see that nobody is to strong and everyone is on the same page or so to say

Restarts are a good idea in theory, but they tend to piss people off more than anything.
Especially in stat boards where people tend to get really whiny and protective of their stats.
However, I wanna add on to Corey's idea of super powerful item for the tournament winner: What if said item couldn't be used in tournaments; aaaaand whoever won the next tourney actually takes said item from previous winner? So you've gotta continue to earn the right to hold it every month or whatever. Yeah, that's right, month. Tournaments shouldn't take much more than a month, maybe two, to complete, is my opinion.

The majority of the problem, so it seems, it coming from a lack of communication amongst the mods. It's problematic because without that flow of speak, members will be doing exactly what we are: Floating.
If there is a chain of command, I'm hoping the secondaries will be able to unite -- even if it's temporary -- to form something that'll push for cause and some kind of order.
In the meanwhile, I don't really see why some kind of side-story can't be happening. Some of you sound like you have some ideas.

So you've gotta continue to earn the right to hold it every month or whatever. Yeah, that's right, month. Tournaments shouldn't take much more than a month, maybe two, to complete, is my opinion. EXACTLY what i was thinking. The item is placed at the end of the tournament, and the last person who won doesnt automatically sit in the finals- he has to go through the gauntlet every time. Sure, he has the title of defending champion, but he doesnt get any sort of statistical advantage over anyone else other then what he started with. As for a total board reboot- what should we do in the future then? I mean, eventually, if we do a total reboot, the people who restart are going to get super strong again. Then other people may be discouraged because they are super weak. I don't think a reboot is the answer- there is always the possibility of going statless. That could be a good way to put everyone on even ground. You can manage stats like strength, dex, and con based on the build of the character. A 100 pound female is going to be wicked fast compared to a 300 pound male, but that 300 pounder is probably going to have some hefty damage behind his blows, not to mention a good, stable Con to back him up. Just a suggestion- i dont really support it, but neither am i against it.

I'm all for a turn to Statless.
It wouldn't fly for the same reason a reboot wouldn't, though: Most people would hate to 'lose' the stats they 'worked' for.
We'd probably have to get rid of Qi, without stats to regulate it, it could get wildly out of hand.
All in all, if we wanted to go statless, we'd might as well just make a new board, or just all join Kai's.

Yup. And yes, things need to be majorly changed - I hope to do it soon, and my ideas involve something akin to making a new board and drifting the story off to something else besides XIN.
I have tons of ideas, but you see... I just got my internet back, and I see 42 like this. Honestly pisses me off, haha. -__-;;
For now, I have some thinking to do.

And the forecast for today, folks, is a lot of rain. Make sure you grab those umbrellas - brainstorms are not fun.
