We take state tests every couple of years.
Not even to test the students. Rather to test the teachers. Really, it's like a 3 week test, for the teachers. Just to put the schools in order of how smart their teachers are. And you can't grad unless you pass everything. Because that means your teachers are stupid.

We have a solid week of testing for standardized tests. 9th Grade was supposed to be the year off but they decided to change that.

The authorities in Philadelphia cracked down on a well structured, and ruthless drug ring this week. As many as 11 bags (size unknown) of marijuana were found in a student’s backpack and seized during an inter agency operation at Thomas G. Morton Elementary in Southwest Philly.
The alleged head of the drug ring, 10-year-old Ismael Zambada Smith (name and ethnic group changed) was searched after an anonymous informant tipped off the authorities. The motivation behind the betrayal remains unclear, but it is safe to assume that one of his “business partners”, two fourth grade girls and a third grade boy, were trying to cut a deal in order to avoid prosecution.
According to a school official, Fernando Gallard, the 10-year old kingpin will be deported into another class (in the same school), in order to provide him with structured environment and counseling about substance abuse.
His gang was suspended, and Smith is still refusing to give up his supplier. Rumors about a plan by his former gang to bust Smith out of detention are just that, rumors.

In a startling move, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger held a press conference today regarding the marijuana legalization bill that was postponed until 2010.
Marijuana is not a drug, it’s a leaf. Everyone knows that I smoked pot when I was into bodybuilding. There was nothing better for relaxation than smoking marijuana after a rigorous workout. I smoked weed and still became a successful movie star and the Governor of California. It’s time to legalize. In fact we are legalizing it for everyone of 21 years of age and up.
After the surprising statement, Governor Schwarzenegger said that a new initiative to replace the one that was postponed until 2010 was presented.
Yesterday, we organized a 12 member special committee, the Human Effects Review Board, comprised of top representatives and senators within the state House and Senate. In a 10-2 vote, it was decided to legalize marijuana in the state of California for anyone 21 and older. The bill was pushed through, late last night and was made into a law today.
Governor Schwarzenegger concluded the press conference by sparking a stogie and saying:
