Warning, this thread contains two characters of epic proportions. In the blue corner, standing at 6' 5" and 160 pounds...Solaris Awren! The lazer-wielding, nuke-detonating maniac! And in the red corner! Standing at the damn short height of 5' 3", with a weight rather not mentioned due to gender...Emily Longlastname! The stat-whoring, white haired...something or rather! Now for the main event...
LUNCH TIME!
*DING*

"The hell?"
Solly looked up from his seat into the ceiling...was there a bell sound just now? Hm. Thinking it was probably nothing, he looked back at his full plate, which he was staring at...contemplating. Food. Yeah, that's right. Food. What of it? To be honest, it had been a long time since he'd last eaten anything. Bar a few snacks since he'd gotten here...it had been 12 years. Yup, his last meal in the hospital before he had been flash-frozen like a fish stick. Not the good kind either. Rather, he looked at his meal like he didn't know how to eat, and although he did, the boy was more content in rolling the vegetables around the plate.
Nothing looked good really.
Hm, except maybe chocolate and tea? He'd tried tea one time, but of course, having a rather faked body, it was hardly of any taste, if at all. The caffeine had no effect. This was stupid. He had to eat...but then again, it seemed like a waste of time.
He munched a little on his broccoli and took off his hat. Meh. Tasted like rubbish. School rubbish. No wonder the students at 650 gave him the stare after lunch. He was now fully appricative of their anger. Maybe he could get his sisters cooking...which was rumored to be oh so delicious.
Or maybe someone decent to talk to for once?
Teachers thought they knew everything...
Psh.
Idiots.

There was a time when Emily was capable of sneaking out of school to buy the more expensive and more palatable meals that the world had to offer besides the famed cafeteria food. Unfortunately, things were rough these days. Emily lived alone, worked alone, did everything alone. Yup - there wasn't exactly much of any resources. Emily was the sort of person to refuse help from people when she still can handle her own problems, so it was quite unsettling.
Her weight dropped a bit the past month, and Emily was steadily beginning losing her appetite. Yes, she was getting a bit depressed about everything. Maybe it was the bipolar thing, or just the fact that she had missed a month of school because of that thing with that Sin person.
Broccoli was something Emily liked. She knew she liked it, but unfortunately she didn't even bother eating it. For the past 4 minutes Emily had been playing with the food on her plate, moving them around trying to get appetized to no avail.
And she didn't even bother noticing the guy who was eating on the seat right in front of her, who was rather new. Normally, Emily would be one to initiate a conversation - but she was quite in the dumps right now.
Sometimes, being bipolar was a chore to deal with.

Okay. Now the AI part was kicking in. The girl. Yes, that one, the short one in front of him. She was MIMICKING. Okay, not exactly, as she appeared to be in more dire straits than he, but still, it was bothering him. No longer did he have the power to be everywhere at once and figure out WHY people did the things they did, and that in itself was bothering. One of his orange eyes came up, glanced, looked down, and did a double take. Hmm. Should he talk? Or should he keep his stupid mouth shut. Life was full of these interesting small decisions, and taking the time to think--
"You don't look so good."
--about...never mind.
Characters can't read this part anyways. What's the point?
"I know I'm no example, but you should really eat, the foods pretty good today."
Solly, you are a terrible liar, especially when you haven't tasted food in almost 12 years. Or more, give or take a couple months depending on the mood. She was rather a cute one though, some promise...yeah. Okay. Crazy cynic...and depressed emo chick. Not a good combination, although it did make for an interesting lunch now.
"If I'm bothering you, I can leave."

Emily didn't know why the heck she bought this meal in the first place. It was actually a horrible attempt to try and eat; but of course, her stomach didn't want anything to eat right now. Not because she was full, but more or less because of her state of mind. It was true that Emily didn't look well - she was pale, and slightly malnourished.
You'd think her parents would give her enough nutrition, when well - they're already dead to begin with. Why bother?
"You don't look so good." Emily looked up at the voice. It was a person she had never seen before. Emily just smiled softly. "I'm fine."
"I know I'm no example, but you should really eat, the foods pretty good today."
"Not when they've blanched the broccoli for around two minutes too long." She said, pushing the tray forward. Yup - she had no appetite at all. "It's okay, I can live without eating for a bit longer. I had breakfast..."
A complete lie. She had nothing this morning, primarily because she missed so much work she couldn't pay her bills right. Plus the hospital bills.
Just great.
"If I'm bothering you, I can leave."
Emily shook her head gently, "It's fine." she said, "I haven't seen you here before. Are you a transfer?"

I take back anything about Solly being a terrible liar. This girl was far worse of one, for God's sake, the lie has to be believable to even be considered as such. Solly had a legitimate reason for not wanting to eat...the fact that he hadn't done so in so long meant that he had to take his time, or come out with a very nasty stomachache. Broccoli was okay...sushi was better. So much for getting that at this rotten school though.
"Sure doesn't look like you've had breakfast."
My, wasn't funny hat the observant one? That and sarcastic. The problem with Solly was that he didn't have trouble telling people their faults...or his own for that matter. He didn't mean to be rude, but hell, if that was the only way of getting his point across, so be it.
At least he didn't have to do so this time.
Transfer? Ohhh...that was a funny story.
"Uh. Sort of...They took me out of school for a little bit. Family issues."
His accent was showing a little. But a little bit? Try 12 years. Yeah...transfer indeed.

Emily wasn't a good liar, apparently. Not that she bothered much with her lying skills. For one - she was a very honest person most of the time, and found it unnecessary to lie about things that mattered. Emily didn't normally consider herself to be of any importance, so why bother right?
"Sure doesn't look like you've had breakfast." Emily laughed nervously. Yup, he caught on quick. Quite unfortunate, this would mean she would have to cover up her own state of poverty at the moment.
"Ah... Haha!" She shrugged, "Could be, but I have reasons."
"Uh. Sort of...They took me out of school for a little bit. Family issues."
Emily smiled. Yeah, she left 259 for family - probably it's a common thing in public schools here in America. "Aye, I had to leave my previous school for family as well." She laughed nervously as she began to play with the droplets of water by her glass of iced ... well, water. "What school were you from?"
Common question between transfers. Some transfers tended to stay amongst their kind, as with natives. It was rare when a native hung around with a transfer very often.

Ryuu sat in the back corner of the cafeteria, his hoodie on, as he rested his legs on top of the table. His cell in his hand, he sent a text message to Taku, who was currently in class. He stretched his free hand out to grab the sandwich on the table, before taking a bite from it, as he received a reply from Taku, and chuckled quietly at Taku's reply. It was lunch time, but poor Taku, along with the rest of his class, had been kept back in class for a few minutes. Since Taku was stuck in History class, and he had no one to talk to, Ryuu placed his sandwich back on the table before opening his address book, and scrolled down, until he reached Emily's name. He then clicked on it, and opened up a new text message, as his fingers began tapping on the keyboard, as he wrote out a simple message to Emily. He hadn't seen Emily for a few days, and nearly went insane from worrying so much about her. His message said:
Hey,
Where are you??? I'm in cafeteria, in the back corner located near the lockers. If you're not busy, I'll come find you, just tell me where you are, alright?
- Ryuu
Picking his sandwich up once more, Ryuu took another bite from it, as he began to write back a reply to Taku's last message, while waiting for a reply from Emily, if she even answered her phone that is. Since he didn't know where she was, or if she even had her phone on, he'd wait for her to reply, if she did, instead of him running around the entire school in an attempt to find her. Ryuu leaned back in his chair, his legs still resting on top of the table, as he sent his reply to Taku, who replied back a few minutes later, saying he was finally out of class, but would be going out to eat. Ryuu smiled slightly, it was all because of Taku and Mary, that he and Emily were together. In a way, he was grateful to Taku for what he did...

NEW CHALLENGER! ________________
"No doubt you do."
Well of course she had reasons! He didn't know of anyone silly enough to just up and stop eating. Most often it was in the protest of something, or in the rare occasion, some sort of neurological disorder. However, unable to determine which, he set the thought aside and continued his attempts to eat. For some other odd reason, Emily was asking all the wrong questions to him. Not wrong in the normal sense...wrong in that she was asking all the ones that Solly was hesitant to answer.
"Hm, yes. It's common. I came from PHS253, in Washington."
Yeah, that was one of three schools he'd been involved with actually. Although that one was the only one he'd been involved with as a student. Well. 42 counted. Sort of. It was a rather confusing situation to be entirely honest, and the timeline was somewhat distorted due to his confusion. Oh well, there was only so much he could do.
"And St. Paragons...although I can't remember why I remember that. Huh."

"Hm, yes. It's common. I came from PHS253, in Washington... and St. Paragons...although I can't remember why I remember that. Huh." Emily nodded. Wow, she never heard of those schools, and she swore she misheard "PHS253" as "PHS259". Well, her being part of that school for about a year and a half, one could understand why that school was more or less striking a chord - even though it was just her mishearing things. "Wow, I've never heard of those schools." She nodded, "As for me I'm from Long Beach; Public High School 259 - it was all over the news for some time because of some military thingamajig." Oh god, she just had to say that. Emily bit her lip for a moment there, slightly hesitant to remember that part of her life. Just before opening her mouth to ask something again, her phone began to ring from her pockets - to the tune of an anime BGM. Interesting - an otaku? "A moment..." She said, sliding her phone open and reading the message. It was from Ryuu. A blush ran across her face, complete with a rather soft expression that feigned to something akin to a girl receiving a text from a guy she liked - which was what was what happened that very moment. She replied quickly, small beeps as she typed out: "I'm in the cafeteria, close to the water fountains. You can join me for lunch if you'd like (^_^;)>"
... She then sighed as she pressed send and put her phone back, where it used to be. "Um, sorry about that. " She smiled, "It must be interesting to be going different places, experiencing different sorts of people..." She trailed off before she smiled at him, "You must been through a lot."Emily was also slightly relieved that the conversation was straying from her not eating.

Ryuu looked up in mild interest as he heard his ring tone go off, and pulled his Sony Ericsson G750 from his pocket, before pressing a button with his thumb, silencing his ring tone, as he saw he had a message from Emily, and opened it, his eyes moving back and forth as he read her message. At least he wouldn't have to go chasing after her, and she was in the cafeteria too, which was even better. Stowing his phone back in his pocket, Ryuu finished off his sandwich, before crumpling up the plastic wrap into a little ball, and taking aim, fired it like a basketball into the nearest trash can, as it landed right smack in the can. Ryuu then stood up, his hood still on, pushing his front hair down, hiding his eyes even more, as he dusted his hands off, and began to pick his way through the crowded cafeteria, heading towards the water fountains. Using his height to his advantage, Ryuu looked around, searching for Emily, until he spotted her talking to someone. Smiling slightly, Ryuu made his way over, moving as quietly as he could, which wasn't hard, considering how loud the cafeteria was. As soon as he reached Emily, standing directly behind her, he lunged forward and wrapped his arms around her. "Hey... Miss me?" He asked, his hoodie still on, as he leaned his head past her shoulder, looking at her, as he smiled softly at her. Though he noticed something as he hugged her, she felt, slightly thin. Was she eating? Ryuu knew Emily liked to save her money from work, though he wasn't sure if this was the case. Either way, he was quite worried about her. As he continued to hug her, his eyes briefly flickered to the guy she was talking to, though as soon as he saw who she was talking to, his eyes flashed briefly in surprise, before returning to calm underneath his hair. He recognized him, it was... Solaris Awren... Ryuu had heard his father Kane mention Solaris before, the telltale orange eyes giving him away, though Ryuu's own telltale gray eyes, the sign he was a Hikari, was hidden by his hood. "Are you okay?" He asked her quietly, so that only she could hear, "Have you been eating lately? Don't tell me you've been saving your money from work and sacrificing not buying food..."

There was a slight twitch in Solly's sitting position. Which was really weird, considering nothing had provoked it whatsoever. A bodily response to an incoming threat? Probably not, it was just a silly reaction to the food...easily explainable considering the taste of the crap. He'd always heard teachers complaining about their salary...but considering what it might have taken to make this food, it was best that he did not ask. Then, unknowingly to Solly, a person came up to him, and had he known who it was, might have shot on the spot.
Or maybe not.
His mood was iffy at the moment.
"Yes, I've heard of 259..." But she hadn't heard of either school he'd gone to, thank the heavens for that. It meant he didn't have to explain himself to the either of them. Shoving the thought aside, Solly look up to take a better look at who had made themselves known. Sadly, a hood covered the boys face, although his voice was distantly familiar.
Damn this brain.
"You could say that...about yourself as well."

"Yes, I've heard of 259..." Emily nodded. Not surprising actually. It wasn't often that students were kidnapped and basically tortured for months on end before they had to be rescued by, not the government, but the students and faculty themselves. It was a big thing, but now it was, again, kept on the "hush-hush" of things.
For an idealist like Emily, things like this and why adults did them was something she had trouble understanding. Not because she was stupid, but rather because of her own beliefs and hopes. Naive, but that was basically what Emily was in a nutshell.
Emily almost jumped in her seat when she felt arms wrapping around her, and a familiar voice rang in her eardrums - it was Ryuu. She didn't realize, not at this point, that she would get caught in the crossfire between her boyfriend and her new acquaintance. Come to think of it, did she introduce herself yet?
"Hey... Miss me?" He said. Emily smiled and looked up, smiling.
"You know I do."
"Are you okay?" she heard him say, albeit a little hushed. Emily slightly wondered why, when it was completely alright to speak to her normally. Not like she knew what was going on between them. "Have you been eating lately? Don't tell me you've been saving your money from work and sacrificing not buying food..."
Emily laughed nervously, "Um... You could say that, I'm sorry." She said, "But I don't have an appetite at all, I swear!"
"You could say that...about yourself as well."
Emily nodded. "I... guess I've been through a bit. Oh, yeah. I forgot my manners." Oh no. "My name is Emily, and this is my boyfriend: Ryuu."
Oh no. Well, at least she didn't say his last name, which would've sparked something.
"... Um, and you are?"

Ryuu's eyes flashed in mild surprise as he saw Emily almost jump when he wrapped his arms around her, he had hoped to avoid surprising her. He smiled back as he saw her look up and smile at him. He gave her a gentle squeeze, letting her know that he missed her too. "Again?" He sighed, as he kept his arms wrapped around her, "You don't have to apologize to me, and even if you don't have an appetite, skipping out on meals isn't good for you..." Ryuu's eyes flickered up to Solaris as he spoke, before looking back down at Emily, who introduced herself and Ryuu, as her boyfriend. Ryuu smiled slightly, he wasn't used to being introduced as someone's boyfriend before. It was good thing he didn't go by the name he picked when he was back in Japan and attending that school any more, though his last name was a dead give away as to who he was.
Ryuu's eyes hardened when Emily asked Solaris who he was, she had absolutely no idea how much resentment Solaris held towards Ryuu's father, Kane Hikari, and that resentment was directed even at Ryuu, who didn't have anything to do with what his father had done to Solaris. Ryuu didn't know why Solaris was here, nor did he wish to know. But if he did anything to Emily, just to get back at his father through Ryuu, Ryuu wasn't going to take it lying down, he would fight back if he had to. Though Ryuu wasn't about to pick a fight with Solaris, not when he hadn't done anything... yet. Thankful that he had his hood on, hiding his eyes, who knows what would've happened if he didn't have it on. Solaris would've probably lay a smack down or shoot Ryuu on the spot, since his face was very recognizable, he wasn't the son of the head of Hikari Industries for nothing. Solaris Awren...
